Dick: "Go comfort her."
Jason: "How do I do that?"
Dick: "Start with hugs."

“I fucking object!”
The church rustled nervously and turned to stare at the man standing in the opened doorway. He stood framed there like something from a superhero comic, legs braced and a pistol in each hand trained on the crowd. Several women screamed when they identified the firearms, but the real shock came when the bride turned to him, a brilliant smile on her face and sprinted to leap into his arms. “Trevor!”
He caught her with one arm and gave her an absent kiss on the cheek before setting her behind him and glaring at the assembled family. “Now, I’m leaving and I’m taking her with me.” He paused and his eyes tracked into the crowd on the bride’s side of the church. His jaw tightened and Trevor stomped down the aisle, reached into one of the pews and dragged another girl out by her arm. “And her. I’m taking her too.” A big man who had been standing beside the other girl lunged after her, only coming up short when Trevor planted one of his pistols between the man’s eyes. “Fuck no, I’m not taking you.” When the man had backed down with his hands raised, Trevor looked down smugly at his new acquisition. “Let’s go, toots.”
She kicked him. It would have been an excellent shot to the crotch if Trevor had been about three inches shorter or she had been three inches taller. As it was, it landed somewhere around his knee which buckled and dumped him in a heap on the floor with an angry yelp. “You’ve lost the rest of your marbles if you think I’m going with you, Trevor,” she snarled and stomped at him with her high heel. Trevor yelped again and rolled, managed to avoid her strike and scrambled to his feet. He had lost one of his pistols but kept the other sweeping the crowd. He never pointed it at the outraged woman in the purple maxi skirt.
“Aw, c’mon, baby,” he pleaded as he backed toward the exit where the bride was still waiting for him, her eyes alight. “It’ll be fun, I swear. I’ll let you drive.”
“You’ll let me!?” she cried and came at him in a rush that had him floundering over himself to get out of the church. “You think YOU will let ME drive? You are higher than a kite if you think you even get the option on that! Of course I’m driving.” By the time Trevor had finished flailing his way down the church steps, the bride was giggling with her hands over her mouth and the other woman had pinned him to the sidewalk with her heel. “Keys, Philips. Now.”
Trevor held up a car remote dangling from a pair of fuzzy dice. “You just had to ask, beautiful.”
The woman snatched the keys from him and tracked her eyes quickly to the responding beep of the remote. “I can’t believe you fucking abducted my sister on her wedding.”
“He didn’t abduct me!” the bride protested while her sister rolled her eyes and strode into the parking lot. “You know as well as I do what I was getting into.” She helped Trevor back up to his feet and kissed him quickly. “Thank you.”
“Anytime,” he said smugly. “Seriously, Tunie? You’re going to be pissed at me because of this?” He trotted after the bride’s sister with the bride trailing behind him. “I thought this was all sorted out.”
“Don’t call me that.” She jerked open the door to a flashy convertible sports car and paused glare at Trevor. “Also, real subtle, Tre.”
“I’m as subtle as a blow to the head,” Trevor replied with a shrug. “It’s what you like about me.”
Slowly, Petunia--Nia to her friends, Tunie to addicts she happened to be fond of--shook her head and let a smile curl up one side of her mouth. “Right tool for the job, I suppose. C’mon, get in. Ivy, I want you in the back and under the seat as much as you can. I don’t want you flopping around back there and for god’s sake, keep the veil under control.”
“I’m a tool,” Trevor said happily as he plopped into the shotgun seat and craned his neck over his shoulder toward the church. “I think that’s one of the nicer things you’ve ever said to me.”
Nia snorted at him, revved the engine as her sister crawled into the backseat, then spun the wheel and squalled the car’s tires as they exited the church lot. Ivy screamed in joy, waved her arms over her head, then stuffed herself under the seat again with a gleeful giggle.

Original: "Yes, but last week a Dragon almost set my hair on fire, so it's your turn to negotiate".
"Okay, so what makes you think I'm going to go with you to talk to this queen?" I raised an eyebrow at my best friend attempting to understand his logic. He turned around a mischievous look slowly appearing on his face
"Oh come on Devin, this job is going to be easy. She's harmless compared to the others." grabbing his daggers and placing them in each of their holsters. He waltzed over to me with my sword in his hands waiting for me to take it. I glared at him. I want nothing more than to stay home and read up on the latest spells. I shook my head and turned away from him.
"I'm not going, Adam. I'd much rather stay here and practice my magic."
"Aw, are you scared?"
"No."
"Will you at least come with me in case I need back up?"
"Fine," I mumbled grabbing my sword from his hands.
"There's the Devin I know!"
"Yes, but last week a dragon almost set my hair on fire so it's your turn to negotiate." I sighed and shook my head as Adam hopped into the air full of excitement. If we weren't such good friends I would have killed him by now.

Original: “All I'm saying, is that if you blow up the house you'll be fired.”
“It's a simple task really.” he sat at his desk staring at the computer with intrigue. The assassin rose from the chair he was sitting in and laughed at the detective's comment.
“Easy for you to say. All you do is sit behind a desk.” he laughed again almost making the detective lose his cool.
“At least I don't have to wash the blood off my hands” the detective smiled and leaned back in his chair. He thought he won this battle until the assassin spoke up making him lean forward again.
“All I'm saying is that if you blow up the house you'll be fired.” the assassin sneered watching the detectives elbow almost hit the detonate button
