I work for a large private company. They love to brag how their work week is just 38.75 hours to “honor the original promise of employees leaving to catch the last trolly home”.
So aside from missing out on 1.25 hours of payable work (somewhere between $25 and $32.35 a week), that puts company hours a year around 2,015 (less than the general 2080).
My company provides a single pool of 40 hours as “Life Leave” per YEAR. To use for sick time, emergencies, etc. There is no way to earn more.
Four years after a GLOBAL PANDEMIC that generally includes a TWO WEEK CYCLE to clear illness, if not more, and my company allows for 1.98% of the year for potential sick leave.
