I went to a cat cafe for the first time. I live there now.

And, yes, I irritate them all with my constant affection.

This week just keeps getting better and better

First, yesterday, my fiance gets a job in my city, so no more living 13 hours apart.

Then, today, @madegeeky plays the Longest Journey.

When you get home and discover the dress you bought has pockets

One of the most flattering things you can tell a social anxiety-riddled introvert is that someone likes them.

 I received a note from a peer of mine after meeting his wife at a social gathering:

By the way, [wifey] said to me on Saturday that she liked you and “we can be friends with [thelearningcat] and [fiancat]”, which is saying a lot because she never likes anyone! :)

And, honestly, this is made my week.

For those feeling utterly overwhelmed and stress,

don’t underestimate the power of letting yourself relax. 

You might have ten deadlines, but the vast majority of the time, you will do better, faster work if you take an hour to watch tv while eating something you enjoy before diving back into it. 

You might not feel at your best still, but you’ll feel better and more focused if you remind yourself that you’re strong, intelligent, and mental health should always be a priority.

Teachers can really make or break a class

I say this with the footnote that research has shown that there's only so much a teacher can do. Parents, administrators, politicians all limit a teachers ability.

But college professors...

Well, they have a special place in my criticism. Because you've gained an education yourself. You've had at least a couple good teachers. You're an anomaly if you didnt. So you know what a good teacher looks like. So why are you still terrible? Apathy? Then don't be a professor. Go work in the private industry or something else. Education is important to so many people and your research will probably not touch half as many lives as the students will in your classes.

Long story short, I sat through probably the most boring, monotone, probably-Professor-Binns-before-he-died lecturer, who was clearly advanced in his career as he had been teaching this class for over six years and all previous students reported not having learned anything.

Seriously, I had sat through two previous classes today, and neither were amazing. They were tolerable with either the lackadaisical attitude of someone too advanced in their career to still be teaching and someone too new in their career to have gotten their stride. Neither were bad, but they weren't quite awe-inspiring to me, someone whose education was marked with professors who chose teaching over research.

I just do not understand how you get that far in your career and still produce a lecture that dry.
