#throwbackthursday drawing of #diamondhead from #themancallednova inspired by the most recent post from @jared.cody.wolf ‘s delightful @voyage.thru.marvel. I copied that issue 3 cover over and over once upon a time. The Man Called Nova was the first comic book I ever collected. A used bookstore on Mount Pleasant had multiple issues that got me started. The cosmic angle plus the original yet familiar character, sort of Spider-Man with Green Lantern’s origin, the chance to live from the beginning the Peter Parkerish trials of Richard Ryder and the creation of a rogue’s gallery. Especially charming was how much of the rogue’s gallery got together later as a team including Diamondhead (who some may remember from the Cyclops origin story in the back of the old X-Men.
