Books!!

So I told everyone I would make a list of the books I read over the summer!! (I tagged who I could, the rest of you will get an inbox message to the post) I am finishing two books today, and the next book I'm starting is over 1500 pages so I won't be finishing it before school, so I am posting the list now!

Each book has a little description beside it :) (Under a read more because I read 37 books this summer and it's long)

The Darkest Minds - Alexandra Bracken. This book was really REALLY good. It took me a while to get into because it was exams, but it was good. THE END THOUGH WOW

Pandemonium - Lauren Oliver. This was the second book in the series. Book 1 wasn't great, book 2 was better, but I didn't bother continuing into the series because I knew where it was headed and didn't care for it.

Shadow and Bone - Leigh Bardugo. LOVED THIS BOOK. This entire series was amazing.

If I Stay - Gayle Forman. - The book was amazing, I loved it and sobs, the movie was the best book to movie adaptation.

Where She Went - Gayle Forman. - If I Stay book 2, really necessary tbh and I loved it and it was beautiful and sad and adorable.

Lies - Michael Grant. - The Gone series is definitely one of my favourite series. Definitely worth reading and I am so sad I didn't get farther in the series this summer. 

Hush Hush - Becca Fitzpatrick. - This is a really cheesy typical series about angels, but I love it anyways. Patch is actually so perfect.

The One - Kiera Cass. - While this book was SEVERELY flawed, it was the perfect ending to the Selection series.

Crescendo - Becca Fitzpatrick. - Hush Hush book 2, not bad, but considering I don't remember anything... not amazing. Still like the series though.

Fallen - Lauren Kate. - I read this book because it was super cheap and there's a movie coming out. Another weird cheesy typical angel series but I mean it wasn't terrible.

City of Heavenly Fire - Cassandra Clare. - Good. A lot going on. Not really a fan of the ending but a good final book for the series.

The Power of Six - Pittacus Lore. - I think the I Am Number Four series is HIGHLY underrrated. These books are great.

The Eyre Affair - Jasper Fforde. - This series is really unique and so so so confusing but amazing and I wish I lived in this world. 

The Faut in Our Stars - John Green. - Reread I liked it just as much the second time. I wanted to read it before the movie.. I did, it was amazing.

A Million Little Pieces - James Frey. - Reread This has been my favourite book my entire life but I hadn't read it in 5 years. It reminded me why I loved it so much.

Shadow Kiss - Richelle Mead. - I love VA so much though FOR REAL.

My Friend Leonard - James Frey. - Reread A million little pieces sequel. I love the writing but the story was no where near as good. 

Orange Is The New Black - Piper Kerman. - Okay so I loved and adored this book. I started it last year when season 1 was on but because of school I didn't finish it till now. This is so important and honestly the tv show just pisses me off tbh.

Siege and Storm - Leigh Bardugo - shadow and bone sequel. Just as amazing.

Marked - P.C Cast - Reread I wanted to attempt to reread the series. I loved the first few books a lot tbh.

Lola and the Boy Next Door - Stephanie Perkins. - HER BOOKS ARE SO CUTE JUST READ THEM ALL

Hollow City - Ransom Riggs. - An AMAZING sequel to Miss Peregrine's. I absolutely adored it to bits and pieces. Spooky and creepy and beautiful.

Outlander - Diana Gabaldon. - I LOVE THIS BOOK. THIS IS A TOP 5 FAVOURITE BOOk. JAMIE FRASER IS A TOP 3 FAVOURITE CHARACTER.

Party - Tom Leveen. Reread Okay so I read this book a long time ago and when I found it I had to buy it and reread it and still so amazing.

Silence - Becca Fitzpatrick - So the series is not bad okay it's really not but this was a horrible direction to take ANY series tbh.

Ruin and Rising - Leigh Bardugo - THE ONLY TRILOGY ENDING I LIKED?!?!?!

Perfect Chemistry - Simone Elkeles. - So okay I read the blurb and was like okay gangs, GROSS, but holy shit I read this ENTIRE book in one sitting like I didn't even get out of bed to eat.

Rules of Attraction - Simone Elkeles. - So PC was so good I started this one right after and rEAD THE ENTIRE BOOK THE SAME DAY AS THE FIRST?!!?

Chain Reaction - Simone Elkeles - Really disappointed with the third books ending. She left something big open and I didn't like that.

Throne of Glass - Sarah J Maas. - So. Good. SO GOOD. Celaena Sardothien is my favourite I love her I want to marriage with her

This Dark Endeavour - Kenneth Oppel. - I bought this book 3 years ago and never read it and I decided to and it's a Frankenstein prequel and holy crapperdoodles it was good.

Fever - Maya Banks. - Erotica. I liked it. It's all the same but it was cute.

Bared To You - Sylvia Day. - So this series got popular around the same time 50 shades did and I decided to read it and wow I love it so much Gideon is my bae <3

Reflected In You - Sylvia Day. - Book 2, so good.

Entwined With You - Sylvia Day - Book 3, the best one tbh. SO glad to be getting two more.

The Archived - Victoria Schwab. - I am not COMPLETELY done this book but it is really REALLY good.

Crown of Midnight - Sarah J Maas - The second Throne of Glass book and wow is it ever good I am not completely done it either but I love it and my OTP GOT TOGETHER even though I think they'll break up now but NOPE IM IN DENIAL.

Prince of Wolves by Quinn Loftis

Prince of Wolves is a book about a teenage girl who discovers she is the soul mate of a werewolf, she's cool with it (but who wouldn't be, he's like so totally smokin) and comes to terms with the fact he is reading her mind in the matter of an hour (But I mean he's hot, so what's the big deal). Now, I know what you're thinking. It's cliche, overdone, and frankly a play off the ever so popular Twilight series. Minus the whole 'Edward can't read Bella's mind' thing. But being the book connoisseur that I am, and because it was free (and I hate to say, I did enjoy Twilight just a teeny bit) I decided that I would give this a shot.

Now, to get down to it, Prince of Wolves was surprising. Whether it be in a good or bad way, I still do not know. The main character Jacque (seriously, Jacque? It'd be cool if I could read a ya paranormal romance novel in which I actually knew how to pronounce the protagonist's name. Just a thought) Is quite the opposite of her seemingly counterpart Bella Swan. She's outgoing, sassy and sarcastic. I quite enjoyed the banter her and her two friends took part in. Now with that being said, Jacque is an extremely one-dimensional character. She has no depth to her whatsoever. Yes, she is sassy, yes she is super sarcastic, but other than that there is isn't much to her. When the Romanian Werewolf guy, Fane (Seriously, Fane? I don't even think I need to comment on that one) spoke to her IN HER MIND she's all, 'I need to call my BFF's like, totally, right like now'. I'm sorry, but if some exchange student starts speaking to me IN MY HEAD calling me some weird pet names like <i>his moon</i> I'm not going to call up Tiffany and Brittany right away. I'm going to google what the hell is wrong with me. Then I'm going to kick his ass for comparing me to something that is huge, pale and bumpy.

As for the secondary characters, I found that they weren't even able to be put into a one-dimensional category. (Is there a 1/4 dimensional category? Can we make this a thing?) Their witty banter was hilarious, but extremely unrealistic. Neither of the characters had any prominent qualities, and if the author accidentally switched their names halfway through I would have never noticed. Also, where are their parent's? Did they forget they have daughters who seem to be at their friends house 24/7? Her mother was also a very submissive character, who seemed to just be the placeholder for a parent (aka. the average mom) Fane is actually a bit more of a developed character compared to the rest of the bunch, but yet still very much one-sided. I probably just like him because he's hot and owns a motorcycle (seriously, how cliche can we be now)

Now, the plot wasn't too bad. If it was written differently and if the characters had more depth, this would have been a winner. It was interesting enough to keep me attentive even though the writing was screaming at me to run away. Jacque and Fane's relationship does develop a tiny bit, but it goes from "who the hell are you" to "I love you" in a manner of 2 paragraphs. After that, there is literally no relationship development between them. The author also throws in a lot of Romanian which throws me off, especially when she only says what the Romanian means only once then keeps repeating the phrases with no indication what the flying fahoodle those phrases mean again. The author clearly needs more practice in writing in 3rd person because there were a few times when the sentences just didn't flow. There wasn't anything that specifically stood out to me but many sentences just rubbed me the wrong way and just felt outright awkward. For example,

"Wow, I mean wow, is all Jacque could think"

"Jacque sat up and looked around her room, and thought, this was a place I feel safe and comfortable"

"I'll let them sleep while I get a shower she thought."

So, in conclusion. I actually did sort of enjoy Prince of Wolves. I did buy the next book and plan to tackle it first thing tomorrow. But, I tend to like to finish entire book series even if I didn't necessarily enjoy them, so you may not feel the same way. If the second book was full price instead of 1.99 I wouldn't have taken the plunge. Basically, I'd recommend giving this a try if it is free (and it was for me) and see if you like it. But if you find yourself halfway through contemplating throwing it away, but don't know if it will get better? Throw it. It's pretty much the same the entire way through.

I don't know sweetie, I'm sorry! It took me a couple of days, I think 3 to 4! But, that was before she wrote the epilogue, but I don't know. 

It's an amazing fic though! The best I've ever read. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Yes! I love to braid and I'm good at it! So you can totally skip the how to French or Dutch braid part. Thanks for getting back to me <3 :D

Okay then it should be reallllyyy easy, hahah. I'm gonna go ahead and publish this for anyone else who wants to learn!

What I did was split my hair into two parts like I was gonna braid it in pigtails. Then I started out with a french braid for just the front bit, and then I switched it into a dutch braid, and tried to keep the braid more in the middle, so that it went straight back (almost like I was gonna keep braiding it around my entire head). Once I had no more pieces on that side, I just continued with a normal braid so it sort of looked like french/dutch braided pigtail.

I did basically the same on the other side, however I french braided for a bit longer (because there was less hair on that side because of my side part), but then I did the dutch braid thing and finished it up like the other side. 

Then I literally just wrapped the braids like cinnamon rolls on the back of my head and pinned the shit out of it! You can intertwine them a bit if it doesn't look too bulky, but I just did like two cinnamon roll style pinnings right next to each other to make it easier. 

And that's it! The explanation is long and complicated, but I SWEAR if you're good at braiding, it is ridiculously easy once you understand the concept. If my explanation was too long-winded, please please let me know and I'll make a video to show you better!!! Hope I helped!!! :D
