A Breakthrough in the Middle of the Palazzo Hotel Lobby
Who knew that Vegas would host a spiritual breakthrough for me?
After one decadent Friday night - celebrating the grand opening of the all-new Electra nightclub at the The Palazzo Las Vegas - I woke up early for a morning guided group yoga sessions with Silent Savasana, led by the ever-inspiring Dray Gardner.
While his team of a DJ and a sax player played a playlist conducive to yoga that we heard in our headphones, Dray led us with his healing words, inspirational mantras, and even more inspiring personal story.
While at first I was my typical yoga self -
“ughhh. I’m so inflexible”
“Is anyone watching how inept I am at this?”
“Uh-oh, I just broke my pose”
“Yep. Knew that would happen - I fell. TWICE”
“Everyone is better than me at this”
“Well, all I can do is laugh” -
I ended up settling into my self - and, in my soul - for some much-needed epiphanies right smackdab in the middle of the Palazzo atrium, while our fellow guests watched on and even took pictures (which is how we got this one).
At one point, when I was comfy in child’s pose, my mind going from racing to taking a quick stroll through anxiety, Dray said:
“Turn your pain into power and your wounds into wisdom.”
Wow.
Yes. THAT.
That’s what I needed to hear.
After those words, the class became sort of a moving meditation - as it was intended to be - leaning itself to a work-IN rather than a workout, as Dray said at the beginning of class.
Although, there was plenty of that workout part, as well.
I left feeling at peace.
Happy.
And, feeling that I am exactly where I am supposed to be. Not just in Vegas - but in my life, overall.
And, all of that enlightenment happened right around the corner from one of the most popular casinos in town.
So, THIS is what @PalazzoVegas meant when they invited me for an #EnlightenUp weekend...
