Idk if it's just Mexico, but therians have been getting a lot of attention lately because they're becoming a big thing on TikTok. The amount of misinformation that is being spread, and the hate that they're getting, even more than before, is driving me crazy. The kids in my class are making jokes and shit, like, GO BACK TO 67, LITERALLY ANYTHING.

The thing that makes me SUPER mad: "We know we're human!"

LIKE, NO, BITCH. Being a therian is under the alterhuman umbrella, aka alternative to human.

If you feel fully human, you're probably just an Otherpaw (Though it is also under the alterhuman umbrella, and is just as valid)! It pmo that nobody bothers to educate themselves before hating on something that they don't understand, something above them. Otherpaws who call themselves therians are just spreading even more misinformation.

Where I'm from, they've made NEWS ARTICLES just full of misinformation.

I just really think the community could stand up for ourselves more if we stopped hating on each other. We are creative, talented, and brave for breaking what society thinks. Individuals hate being different, and being different is the best thing anyone can be! So fuck the kids in my class, bro.

Ok kinda lil vent/rant thingy here ig but (slight curse warning at the end)

I honestly hate being the age I am in the alterhuman community. I’m a young teen, 12-15, and I feel really bad sometimes because alterhumans my age typically don’t actually seem to know what therianthropy/alterhumanity means and they’re typically the ones watering down definitions, or they’re stereotyped to be anyway, so:

1: it’s hard af to make alterhuman friends/moots that aren’t just 11 year olds who think animal masks r cool

2: older alterhumans stereotype me as some sort of trender just because I’m younger and I feel unwelcome in some generally actually accepting alterhuman spaces like tumblr just because people assume I’m not a “real” therian just cause I’m younger

3: I can’t really buy affirming gear, even tho I can afford it, because most people in my life can barely tolerate “typical” therians or TikTok therians, so if people can only barely stand masks and foxtails how would they feel about collars, or snout/muzzle masks, or fake fangs, or species affirming hairstyles, or fake wings, or faun legs, mermaid tails moth antennae contact lenses, the list goes on

4: since I can’t find many informed alterhuman friends irl and since obvs my *barely tolerating* friends would find it weird to listen, I don’t really have a good outlet to talk about or figure out parts of my alterhumanity other than social media, and then I just feel like some chronically online bish because I start to feel more comfortable talking about things that personal with internet strangers than my own friends

Idk it gets really frustrating honestly, wish I could just exist as a creature in peace without all this shit in my head, pisses me off >:[

Being an alterhuman in an openly anti-alterhuman family kinda sucks. I have to use words like "people" and "human" when referring to myself and my nonhuman friends, or else my folks would start asking questions I don't want to answer. Sadge. :(

It's OK to be WRONG about your THERIOTYPE

It's BETTER to make gear/express yourself as a theriotype you end up being wrong about than to NEVER express your therianthropy out of fear about being wrong about your specific theriotype

INSTEAD of always being scared of being WRONG, EXPERIMENT to see what feels RIGHT

If you're never wrong about a potential theriotype, you never dig deep enough to figure out your theriotype!!! A big part of finding out about yourself is being wrong sometimes and that's ok!!! It's healthy!!! BENEFICIAL!!!!!!

does it really matter that some therian blogs tag "howling and jumping around i'm so silly!!!!! i love being a wolf!!!!!!" as #wolf therian? is it THAT important to let everyone know how being a wolf is a serious thing and you're upset that a 14 year old online is posting about how they're wagging their tail, or posting things that relate more to domestic dogs?

of COURSE occasionally therians with wild animal theriotypes are going to relate to things that are domestic sometimes, if you grow up in a society that focuses around living in houses, getting a job, raising a family in specific environments you are going to relate to animals that also experience these things a lot of the time.

i consider myself a wild wolf, but i also consider myself a wolf in captivity because there will always be a part of me that seeks the warmth of my couch and the coziness of a blanket when it's cold outside. i don't think that's bad of me, or anyone for that matter

this isn't directed at anyone, i've just been seeing a lot of things on various websites

Therian vents

Anyone else desperately wish they only had one theriotype?

I mainly want only one because I love obsessing over specific things and I can't really obsess over 5+ types. It hasn't stopped me from trying but it's hard to be an expert in so many different animals that are all so different.

I also wish I had a main one that I felt more often but I feel all of my types pretty equally. That also makes it kinda frustrating to relieve species dysphoria since I can't wear all of the gear at once or watch videos of three to four different habitats at once.

Tbh I kinda wish I was just a snow leopard. That's the type I have the most gear for, understand the most and have known about the longest. Then again I do love all of my types...

All of my theriotypes and kintypes have also made it so I don't have the mental capacity to even think about my otherhearted identities :(

Rant under the cut be warned

I wish there were more ways I could feel affirmed in my non-humanity

"Wear a mask!" I make masks and wear them and then i feel itchy and sweaty and i have breathing issues and I hate that I can't see the world around me like I'm supposed to and I don't get how it makes others feel better while I don't

"Wear ears!" When I wear ears they hurt my head and give me headaches and the headband stabs against the bone and if I move wildly it'll just shake off and if I lay down it'll just shake off and If I do anything it'll fall off because its not actually on my head. I wish I just had the ears.

"Wear a tail!" I have many tails, I clip them onto me to feel better, but the feeling is always temporary. Then comes the anxiety of it falling off, breaking, getting pulled in public, sitting on it when I sit down so I have to brush it to my side because I don't have the actual tail bone or nerve to move it on my own. I hate it. I hate it so much it pisses me off.

"Do quads!" I do, I try and its fun but unfortunately I have physical issues and since I have a human body I get frustrated because I'm not built like I should be. My neck isn't long enough my leg joints are disproportionate and I have balancing issues because my spine is crooked and my rib cage is shifted. I don't have any stamina and I get annoyed when I fall flat on my face rather than walk around with ease. It can help sometimes but it honestly makes me more sad that I don't have the animal body

Everything overstimulates me and there's no other options to then, imagine I guess. And that helps, it helps a lot but I wish when I brushed my head I'd feel my ears, I wish I could feel the movement of my ears rather than imagining it, I wish I could feel my tail swishing and It went out of the way on its own when I sit down. I wish my phantom limbs were stronger but they aren't

I wish humans had better temperature regulation, better stamina and better speed but they don't cause they gave it all away for a brain, and that's what makes this so hard

I don't understand how my friends do it o-o
