This week I binged The Huntress and the Beast by @thesweetnessofspring, and while I am very late to that party I can honestly say that it is one of the most moving pieces of literature I have ever read! I simply couldn't put it down. I was crying and laughing and pining. It is so well written and thought out, with wonderful minute details and a relationship that blossoms slowly over the course of a year.

I am also re-reading A Spark At Dawn by @hopeandwhiteliquor. A Catching Fire What If AU, in which Haymitch takes Peeta's place in the Quarter Quell. A wonderful insight into Haymitch and his devotion to his former mentees, as they also tentatively get closer to one another. One of those works that made me drop everything I was doing to read the new chapter as soon as it was out. <3

And, last but not least, @honey-kyun posted the first chapter of Can I Keep You? this week! A post-Mockingjay story about dealing with an unexpected pregnancy, love, and loss. I can't wait to see where this story is headed!

This part is SO underrated:

That "insisting I acknowledge its progress" is all at once our stubborn Katniss being met with Peeta's own stubbornness, and the fact that he's pointing out a piece of hope in such a long, drawn-out horror they have to witness? Peak Everlark to me.

OH the way that this is a microcosm of their relationship, and a sort of glimpse into what their lives may be like after the war … this is “Peeta says it will be okay” … this, please note, is one instance we see of Peeta making a metaphorical fire or light of hope flicker inside Katniss … he has fire too … AND okay this is a reach but the fact that it’s the moon he keeps pointing out, the moon so often associated with the feminine, and with, specifically, a female archer … the time shifts by the moon as hope and despair shift within Katniss … but anyway this scene is unbelievably powerful, gut-wrenching, and so underrated (and so criminally left out of the movie) … I think you could almost do a theological analysis on this chapter, right down to the interesting use of the word “heavens” instead of “sky” … the Garden of Gethsemane of it all … *jots that down for my next reread* I’ve never seen an illustration of this moment and I’m sort of hoping for one in the illustrated special edition (or maybe one of our lovely artists could take it on? 🥺🫶🏻🥹) … the berries are the quintessential Katniss and Peeta defiance moment but them clinging to each other atop the Cornucopia is … something else …

here's a snippet from the peeta mall santa/katniss elf AU i've been working on (inspired by you!)

A few days later, Katniss was running late for her first shift, dressed in the itchy polyester costume Haymitch loaned her. Though she didn’t have to wear fake ears, the bells jingling on the ends of her shoe covers while she ran through the mall to her station didn’t help her intense feelings of humiliation.

A line of eager families had already formed at the entrance of the Christmas display, and Katniss jogged past them to set herself on the scene.

“You’re late,” Haymitch grumbled as he swiped the first family’s card, hardly picking up his head to glance her way.

“Sorry I had to brush up on my contortionist skills to get myself into this thing,” she retorted as she made her way into the North Pole.

“Just get next to Santa, sweetheart.”

So, this is a very sparse list, and that's okay too! I have never been a prolific writer or should I say, a prolific publisher of what I do write. There are more scribblings stuck in folders on my hard drive (or lost) than you can imagine that will never see the light of AO3! There are also a couple of drabbles that I don't even know where to look for them .... (Can I add the fics I've beta'd?!?) lol

For the WIP game: Capitol Punishment!

Thank you @thesweetnessofspring for the ask! This is a relatively new idea reworked from a really old and not so good idea.

A while ago I took down my fics and wanted to redo/Rework them hopefully to make them better. I also thought I was in the process of publication. Well, it did not happen. It included the old idea of Capitol Punishment.

I had this idea of: what if the Third Quarter Quell happened as planned, but the twist was entirely different?

The Quarter Quells intrigue me. I've been drawn to them since I read Catching Fire and even more now with Sunrise on the Reaping. Anyway, my idea for the cruel twist of Tributes would be: only those related to Victors would be in the Reaping, if no blood relatives, then a Victor would be selected to go back into the Arena. No volunteers are allowed. That even the most victorious are still vulnerable to the Capitol.

In this Katniss is still the Victor of the 74th Games. She still volunteered. Differences, Peeta was never reaped. The spark of the rebellion was in Katniss volunteering as well as Rue's funeral. All of this means one thing, Prim is going into the Arena. However, it's not told from Prim's POV, but her tribute partner, related to Haymitch. No shock here, since I'm weaving my Rumitch into it. I am changing things up for this.

There'll be spoilers to SOTR in this fic just in case you haven't read it yet. (It's taking me forever to finish it, I'm reeling after every chapter.) Hopefully by the time I finish it and post it, people who have wanted to read it, will have had the chance. I will be tagging spoilers just in case.
