Now i’ve got a fic i’m gonna be writing (maybe two I haven’t decided but I’m defo writing one in the Teen Au thing so… i’m just gonna give you some of the ideas that I’ve had and these are within the Bridgerton Enterprise AU)
Kanthony: First proper Halloween party Anthony refused to dress up… Upon a little bit of bribery, he did eventually dress up as Mark Anthony, to Kate’s Cleopatra. The Following Halloween was the Ghostbusters with little 7 month old Edmund as Mr Stay Puft. They have also done Morticia and Gomes, they’ve done Joker and Harely Quinn but they go more PG later as the kids get older. When Kate said she was going to dress as Medusa one year, Anthony kept his costume a secret and rocked up as Perseus.
Benophie: Now these two like to have some fun. First Halloween they did Superwoman and Superman (cause Ben calls her Superman) they’ve done Wonderwoman and Steve. Mary Poppins and Burt. Sophie’s favourite was Daenerys Targaryen and Khal Drogo, with 6 month old Charlie as a Drogon. When all three boys are little they reprieve this look but with Ben as Jon Snow and all three boys as Dragons and Baby Vivi looked ADORABLE dressed as Ghost. They really get into it as a family. Benedict’s favourite was Peter Pan and Sophie as Tinkerbelle, the boys as the lost boys. He did really enjoy Sophie ripping his tights off that night when they got home (it may or may not be the night Vivi was conceived)
Polin: much to a few of the families annoyance, they rocked up to their first halloween as Pennywise. (Anthony, Sophie, Greg all hate clowns - Sophie was so terrified she and Ben left early) they’ve done day of the dead couples, somehow they managed to convince Philip and Eloise to partake in dressing up and they all rocked up as the Scooby Doo Gang, Colin was Fred, Pen was Daphne, Eloise Velma, Phillip Shaggy and the twins dressed as Scrappy and Scooby. (the twins fought over this and were bribed into taking part)
Saphne: Daphne was pregnant for their first few, and Simon refused to dress up but as the girls got older he got into the spirit (after the Ghostbusters and Daphne’s reaction to his costume he was on board) he does regret letting Daphne dress him as Justin Timberlake though as Anthony, Benedict and Colin all fell of their chairs laughing at him dressed in all that denim. He did enjoy Aladdin and Jasmine, and Moana and Maui (though he was bloody cold all night)
Philoise: It took a lot of convincing to get Phillip to dress up. He dressed as Louis Tully when the Ghostbusters theme ran, Eloise dressed as Gozer and they dressed the twins as the terror dogs. He tries to get away with a t-shirt that says “this is my halloween costume” until Sophie makes his entire family costumes from Little Shop of Horrors and he’s on board more. Eloise isn’t one for a couple costumes really but does enjoy dressing up.
Franchel: Bonnie and Clyde, for three halloweens on the bounce Michael dressed as Braveheart… and Fran spends the night as Queen Isabelle chasing him to make sure he keeps his kilt down… cause you know, he’s a scot and he’s authentic! Pulp Fiction was one of Fran’s favourites
Grecy: Cinderella and Prince Charming, they dress up as Bernadette and Howard from Big Bang Theory, Lilo and Stitch, Where’s Wally as a couple, they did Bella and Edward from Twilight. They did Cosmo and Wanda as well from Fairy Godparents.
Hyreth: Frankenstine and Frankenstine’s bride, Bettlejuice and his bride. Hyacinth is very much a “it’s supposed to be scary” for her costumes. She loves doing a Zombie themed one. Chucky and the Bride of Chucky was one of her favourites, until it made her nieces cry. She rather enjoys dressing up as the girl from the Shining, as she did terrify her two oldest brothers, making them scream like girls in front of their wives the first Halloween she did it.
Bridgerton Week Day 2: competition | you don't win
The Bridgerton ladies have tea and a little competition!
Themes: Bridgerton family shenanigans, friendship, sisters interrupting each other | Length: 2.9k
ao3 link | masterlist | or read under the cut
The time is five o’clock on a Thursday afternoon. The setting is a light blue drawing room at Bridgerton House. Our players include eight relatively young women related to the Bridgerton family either by blood or marriage.
Our conflict consists of the last slice of orange cake leftover from tea.
“We should race for it,” Hyacinth said, a mischievous gleam in her eyes as she examined the piece of cake.
“Where? In the middle of Mayfair?” Daphne asked, wearing just a slightly condescending smile.
“Why not-” Hyacinth began to reply, only to be cut off by her older sister.
“She only suggested it because she knows she’d win,” Eloise gave a dismissive wave. “It’d be like me suggesting a round of shooting to decide.”
Penelope gave her a knowing smile. “Which, I’m sure, you wouldn’t be opposed to.”
Eloise grinned, “Not in the least.”
“Why don’t we have Anthony decide? He’s somewhere here isn’t he?” Sophie asked.
“Well, I’ll certainly lose then,” Kate grumbled, crossing her arms.
“And I daresay only you and Lucy would have a chance then, Sophie,” Daphne considered.
“I daresay you’re right,” Penelope added, knowing her brother-in-law all too well.
“Perhaps we all play the same pianoforte piece?” Francesca suggested.
“That’s unfair! You know I’m awful,” Hyacinth said with a scowl.
“I don’t see how that concerns me in the least. You should have practiced more as a child.”
“What if we have someone hide it?” Lucy offered rather feebly.
Hyacinth nearly rolled her eyes. “Well, that will hardly-”
“Wait,” Kate interrupted loudly, her mouth slowly creeping up into a smirk as the other women turned to her. “I propose that whoever has the worst betrothal story deserves the last piece.”
“So convinced that you’ll win?” Eloise’s mouth twisted as she examined her sister-in-law.
Kate shrugged, “Perhaps. But mostly I just care for some gossip. And I know that there are quite a few stories in this room.” She wiggled her eyes as she gave a pointed look to each lady.
There were a few snorts of laughter that came from the group, but soon enough there was silence as the women eyed one another. Some of them narrowed their eyes jokingly, others giggled nervously, and one raised her brow in suspicion.
The silence, however, was interrupted by a turn of events that certainly didn’t surprise any of them; the youngest born Bridgerton was the first to speak. “I’ll start.”
Immediately, she was met with seven rather dubious expressions.
“You do realize that most of us know your proposal story?” Francesca asked dryly. “Therefore, we all know that you have no chance at winning,”
Hyacinth crossed her arms. “If I am to lose, which I have not yet accepted, mind you, I might as well take the opportunity to go first.” She sent her older sister a glare. “Also, you’re hardly one to say such things.”
Francesca looked as though she wanted to roll her eyes, but instead just gave her a blank look. Although there was a question over which Bridgerton woman had the worst proposal, there was certainly no question that hers was one of the better ones.
“As I was saying,” Hyacinth shot the room a pointed look, as if willing someone else to interrupt her. “My proposal came as rather a surprise. As some of you know, it was a Tuesday, which meant that I was laboriously reading a book aloud to Lady Danbury. I am, of course, quite charitable in that way, and was always happy to continue our weekly readings.”
“Oh, get on with it,” Eloise groaned, rolling her eyes.
Hyacinth sent her a glare. “Gareth interrupted our afternoon, came in, and promptly asked if I would marry him.”
“That’s quite sweet,” Daphne acknowledged, as a few others nodded their agreement.
“And in other words,” Kate said with a grin, “you don’t win.”
Hyacinth sniffed rather indignantly. “Well, it wasn’t all sweet! Lady Danbury was quite literally in the room with us, and I didn’t even say yes at first - she did.”
This time, Penelope shrugged, “Still one of the better proposals, I’m afraid.”
“And Gareth also got Anthony’s permission, did he not?” Kate asked, even though she absolutely already knew the answer.
Hyacinth huffed and tapped her foot on the ground. “He did. Hardly my fault you all have poor planning though.”
“Oh!” Sophie said, perking up. “Who here besides Hyacinth actually got a blessing?”
The room fell silent for a rather long moment as the women processed the question. Some - Kate, Daphne, Lucy - all shook their heads quickly. Others took some time to consider the question.
Finally, Penelope gave an ironic smile, “Well Colin technically asked my mother,” she tilted her head, “... after I’d already agreed to marry him.”
Eloise added, “Phillip got Anthony’s… Sort of.”
“Was that before or after they stampeded Romney Hall?” Francesca asked with an innocent smile.
Lucy, who was still rather new to the family and had yet to learn all of its stories, looked between Kate on her left and Daphne on her right, brows furrowed in confusion.
Kate winked at her before nodding at Eloise, “Go on then, tell us the story. I think Luce will enjoy this little tidbit about her husband.”
Lucy choked on the tea she was drinking, mumbling a quick “sorry” when she was done sputtering. “Although…” she muttered, shrugging a bit, “Gregory did shoot my uncle.”
There were a few chortles (and one scowl) across the room before Eloise, laughing, said, “Well, you see, Phillip and I had been exchanging letters for quite some time and I’d taken the opportunity to go get to know him-”
“By nearly killing us all with fright when she ran off without telling anyone,” Penelope interjected, taking a sip of her tea.
Lucy blinked a total of six times before Eloise, who had been giving her best friend a rather hard look, turned back to the remainder of the group. “As I was saying, I was getting to know Phillip when all of your husbands,” she gestured towards her four sisters-in-law, most of whom just shrugged in response, "stormed Romney Hall, nearly choked poor Phillip to death, and then promptly got drunk with him not two hours later.”
A suspicious snorting sound came from Lucy as Sophie waved an encouraging hand. “And so how did the actual proposal happen?”
“Well, Anthony all but said we had to get married or else risk scandal,” she rolled her eyes as she gave her best older brother impression. “So, after my talk with Anthony, the already-drunk Phillip came to me and said that we'd have to marry.”
Someone in the room clucked their tongue while the rest of the ladies grew silent, sipping their tea. Although a funny story, a romantic proposal it certainly was not.
And Eloise seemed to know it because her gaze fell to the perfect slice of cake awaiting her. “Well, then, don’t mind-”
“No,” Francesca declared, giving Eloise’s already outstretched hand a light smack. “We’ve only heard two stories, so you can’t possibly be the decided winner yet.”
“I can so-”
“Kate, yours was quite bad, wasn’t it?” Hyacinth interrupted, turning towards her sister-in-law.
“Hmmm,” Kate hummed, her mouth twitching at the corner, “well, it certainly wasn’t… good.”
“Oh, I do love it though,” Sophie said with a smile. “It’s almost romantic.”
Kate snorted, glancing at her. “Honestly, there really wasn’t much to it. Anthony was courting my sister Edwina when they were clearly wrong for each other, I absolutely couldn’t stand him, but somehow we ended up on a walk together at Aubrey Hall where a bee stung my-”
“Bosom,” Sophie so helpfully interjected, prompting a glare from Kate.
“Chest. And due to some” - she waved her hand inconsequentially- “personal reasons, Anthony immediately went to suck the bee venom from it.”
(It was at this point when the rarely surprised Lucy openly gaped at her.)
“All would have been well really had it not been for a few witnesses, namely someone’s mother,” Kate sent a glare towards Penelope, who merely shrugged helplessly.
“Not as though I reported it…” the red-head mumbled.
“And then we had no choice but to marry,” Kate finished, a pensive look forming on her face. “You know, actually, when I say it like that…” She looked at the cake with newfound interest.
When there were a few sounds of protest, Daphne, rather diplomatically nodded, “We’ll decide at the end. And anyway, I’d like to hear Lucy’s proposal story.”
The youngest in the room seemed surprised by the sudden attention on her, but her lips formed a soft smile. “Well, to be quite fair, my proposal was rather romantic.”
“You mean the first one or the second where my brother got dragged out of your wedding?” Hyacinth asked, not even making an attempt to hide the mocking in her tone.
Rather quickly, every older woman in the room sent her an equal look of warning; none were very understanding of the not-so-little grudge Hyacinth was still holding against their newest sister-in-law.
“Go on, Luce,” Kate said, sending Hyacinth another look. The latter just scowled back, crossing her arms indignantly.
Lucy cleared her throat, casting a nervous glance towards her teacup. “Uhm, there’s not much to say really. It actually happened in Daphne’s dressing room,” she sent the aforementioned sister-in-law an apologetic smile, “thanks to the help of Hyacinth.” The named Bridgerton sister only sniffed, back pin-straight as she kept her arms crossed. “Gregory told me he loved me and asked me to marry him, and I said yes.”
“And?” Hyacinth asked, her eyes focused on the ground.
“And,” Lucy bobbled her head, “we had a few bumps before our happy ending. But happy we are.”
There were a few Aws filtered throughout the room as smiles and nods were sent her way. “Well, you may not win,” Sophie sighed, “But it is rather sweet.”
“Well since we’ve heard from two of us who are obviously not winning… Francesca?” Eloise wiggled her eyebrows at her.
Francesca looked at her for a moment, the wryness in her expression unmistakable despite the ever-so-slight narrowing of her eyes. Finally, she let out a little sigh, shrugging her shoulders, “It was alright.”
“Didn’t Michael ask you multiple times?” Sophie asked, innocently blinking her eyes.
“And didn’t you reject him multiple times?” Penelope asked, giving her a small nudge.
“I suppose that happened,” Francesca admitted.
“Also, didn’t he try to court you as well? Something about flowers and I-love-you’s and all that?” Eloise asked.
This time, Francesca’s lips turned upwards just a bit at the corners. “I suppose that happened as well.”
“I realize that it was complicated for you…” Daphne said with a kind smile, “but it’s one of the most romantic stories I’ve ever heard.”
Francesca nodded, glancing down to her cup. She took a small breath before perking up, raising her head. “Anyway, I say we finish off with those of us who clearly aren’t the winners- Sophie?”
The aforementioned woman blinked in surprise. “Well. I was quite literally in jail when it happened.” But even despite her words, her mouth curved all the same.
“Tell the whole story, Soph,” Eloise prompted, eager to quicken it all along.
“Alright,” Sophie nodded, clearing her throat. “Well, honestly, he didn’t really ask me, per se. I had been arrested for”- she waved her hand dismissively- “It’s not that important and I’m sure most of you know anyway. But there I was, feeling incredibly low and smelling rather badly, to be quite honest, and I was quite sure that I’d be stuck there until-” She grimaced a bit at the memory of what had been awaiting her at the end of her sentence. There were a few looks of sympathy as Daphne reached over to squeeze her hand. Sophie sent her a grateful smile.
“Thankfully, however, my situation had appeared in Lady Whistledown’s column of all places,” she gave Penelope a warm glance, who returned to her a wobbly nod. “And then Benedict and Violet showed up and stopped the entire thing. And Benedict ended up calling me his fianceé.”
“And that was that?” Lucy asked, unable to suspend her curiosity any longer.
Sophie laughed slightly, a dreamy sigh escaping her lips. “Well, there was a bit more. But later that day when we got home, he really told me that he loved me and wanted to marry me.”
“But, unfortunately, that means that you don’t win either,” Kate said.
With a little bob of her head, Sophie conceded, taking a momentary wistful look at the slice of cake. “I suppose I can accept that.”
“Alright, so we’ve got the good ones of out the way,” Eloise said, waving her hand. “Pen, do you want to go then?”
A stifled giggle came from somewhere in the room, but Penelope just laughed along, giving a shrug. “I like my betrothal story, thank you very much.”
“Oh, pardon me, I thought you were the one who fell out of a carriage?” Francesca asked, giving her a bland smile.
Penelope smiled sarcastically. “You know, if not for my husband and me, half of you might not have been married at all. Including you,” she gave Francesca a pointed look.
With a roll of her eyes, Kate hurriedly said, “Oh, just get on with it.”
Penelope laughed again, shrugging. “Well, we’d had a- er,” she paused, “a moment that morning-”
“A rather scandalous moment I do believe,” Daphne interjected, leaning in towards Lucy.
With a small blush, Penelope quickly continued, “Well, we were exiting a carriage, and Colin had decided that he was going to come in with me. I hadn’t a clue why he wanted to do so, however, so he ended up… asking me whether or not I was going to marry him.”
“Asking?” Francesca echoed, her face completely blank.
Penelope cast her a quick, irritated glance. “Perhaps demanding might be a better word . Quite honestly, it all blurred a bit because I fell out of the carriage and onto the curb, and my face hit his shoe.”
There was another beat of silence as Penelope awkwardly smoothed over her skirt. “I suppose in hindsight it wasn’t really-”
Suddenly, however, she was cut off, because it seemed that Hyacinth, ever so competitive, had thought of one last desperate attempt to win. “Gareth didn’t say he loved me!” she exclaimed, causing Sophie to let out a little gasp of surprise.
Penelope stared at her for a moment, seemingly deciding whether it was worth pointing out that she’d been interrupted. Ultimately, she just shrugged, “Neither did Colin.”
Kate snorted. “Nor Anthony.”
“Nor Phillip!”
“And certainly not Simon,” Daphne muttered.
“Oh?” Eloise grinned, turning to her older sister just as Hyacinth huffed once more and slumped back into her seat. “Ready for your turn then, Daph?”
There were more than a few hands placed over mouths, as well as one outright giggle. The only person in the room who truly smiled was Lucy, but her lips slowly dropped as she looked around her companions, eyes widening as she did so.
Daphne gave her a bright smile and shrugged. “Honestly, I could win London’s worst betrothal, let alone just the family’s.”
She took a sip of her tea and gave her most duchess-like nod. “Well, let’s see, shall we? Simon and I had been fake courting in order to attract more suitors for me.” She looked at Lucy, “I wasn’t a very desirable catch during my time.” Daphne chuckled and shrugged, turning back to the rest of the room. “But let’s see, Anthony, unfortunately, caught us having a...” She glanced at Penelope with a knowing smile. “Moment, and, of course, my brother being my brother, challenged Simon to a duel, almost killed him the next morning before I arrived on horseback and stopped the whole thing by demanding that Simon marry me instead.”
Another silence passed over the room, even from those who already knew the story. Everyone was looking rather uncomfortable except for Daphne, who was smiling pleasantly at them all.
“That… wasn’t great,” Francesca finally admitted.
“So, I suppose that means that I-”
But Daphne was interrupted by the sound of approaching footsteps and all the women turned to see Violet enter the rooms.
“Oh, look at all my lovely girls together in one place!” she said, smiling down at each of them. “What are we all speaking about?”
“We’ve been trying to decide who gets the last piece of cake,” Eloise answered, still eyeing the table.
“It’s quite clearly me,” Daphne said with a firm nod.
“It could just as easily be me,” Eloise returned, her mouth twisting stubbornly.
“Or me,” Kate argued. “I also got stung!”
“I was in jail!” Sophie rather uncharacteristically blurted out.
“Well, I-”
“Wait!”
“No!”
“Mother!”
There were several more sounds of opposition, but they were all far too late. It seemed that while the young women had been arguing for a winner, the matriarch of the family had discretely taken the aforementioned slice of cake and eaten it in a few careful bites.
Violet delicately dabbed her mouth with a napkin before smiling at them. “You were running out of time.”
“Running out of time for what?” Francesca asked with a frown.
"For him," Violet said, motioning towards the door. And in the very next moment, a large figure appeared.
Colin groaned as he entered the room, leaning over the empty tray. "Is there nothing leftover from tea?"

Day 1 of Bridgerton Appreciation Week - theme: body swap
Kate and Anthony have lived across the corridor from each other for long enough, they're polite to each other when necessary, but their occasional spats over Anthony's many guests have finally gone too far. After an odd evening, they both wake up to find out something is very different.
