So much craziness surroundin’ me
So much goin’ on, it gets hard to breathe
When all my faith has gone, you bring it back to me
When I'm not sure about my priorities
When I've lost site of where I'm meant to be
Like holy water washin’ over me
Ever listen to a song and think that the words can be applied to your relationship with God?
Sometimes that is the artists' intention, other times it's not. But often the reason why song lyrics can be applied to your relationship with God is because so many songs write about love. Because they were so in love with someone at the time they wrote the lyrics, the song is able to express that love in a beautiful and poetic way. Almost like the psalm verses in the bible.
Artists feel inspired to write songs that praise their special girl or guy because they feel head over heels about them and want to demonstrate what they feel inside when they're around that person. What a beautiful way to tell someone that you love them.
The thing is, the same way that those artists are writing about that special someone the love they feel is how we should feel about God. There is nothing greater than being in love with God, our creator is an entity that epitomizes love to the highest degree.
So if you are feeling like there is a lot of stress in your life at the moment, with exams, bills, social life, a boyfriend or girlfriend, stop focusing on that for a moment be still and send love to God.
Next time you hear a good song with beautiful lyrics, think about the subject of those lyrics being God and think about the way in which you can enhance your relationship with him to be a true reflection of what that writer may have been feeling at the time.
