I'm still alive I swear
Going for a vintage vibe, but I really liked the original, so you get it, too
i have just discovered why i get so awkward with writing fanfics
if the character i'm writing about comes from an already established media then it feels like i'm changing their lives around and like controlling them
like idk bro it's weird
it feels like i'm forcing the character into situations but this is like a fictional character who isn't real
anyone else get like this or no
I keep thinking about TMA and ethics, especially given 167.
to me, it’s super weird when people discuss Jon and the idea of if Jon knew about the archivist’s death freeing the assistants, should he have told
because to me personally that answer is an obvious and resounding “uh no?” or, at best, situationally and dependent on the person. martin? sure. basira? maybe. melanie or daisy? fuck no.
half of the people attached to the archives have literally tried to physically harm jon and potentially kill him. fuck no, he didn’t need to tell any of them about that escape hatch, if he’d known.
the fact the same episode also dealt heavily with gertrude doesn’t seem to be an accident to me. my personal stance on gertrude is that she’s a fucking cool character.... who was also in her own way a monster. she lacked jon’s more monstrous traits but in the end I absolutely view her as more worthy of judgement.
gertrude is very big on pragmatism. her advice to sasha/whoever takes over is “whatever price you must pay, do it without question.”
except broadly speaking, she’s not the one paying. it’s her making that decision for other people. she’s the one with, comparatively, the most information and agency. and she chooses who is a “necessary death”.
but never herself. not until the very end.
to me, that’s much more deplorable than anything jon has done, because jon’s never been able to exert his agency through the show. he’s a victim.
which winds back to the question of: if it saves people, should jon die? which is obviously a fuck no, christ. in the context of the tragedy of TMA, jon is an innocent. it’s not an acceptable loss to kill him to free the others, and YMMV here but imo it’s not even an acceptable loss to kill him to save the world. what is this, fucking omelas?
kill jonah fucking magnus, goddamn.
FINALLY omg
Asks are open again now that I have answered all I could (though most are in my queue) so big Pog! Send in your thoughts about the war or just in general stuff once more you nerds <3
"So yer tellin me... there's a whole group of people out there... who wanna just..."
Seph stares in utter disbelief and confusion...
"Get rid of land? Like, make everything ocean?"
random thought-
if two people swap bodies, they have the ability to find out what they smell like. The reason why is because while their own body is noseblind to it's own scent, the person they swapped with's body is not; so theoretically they could smell something of their own (blanket, shirt, plushie, etc) and find out what they smell like to other people.
It would also be a hassle if the people who swapped don't have the same dominant hand, because their mind tells them to use one hand, but the body's muscle memory makes it easier to use the other, which the mind isn't use to
uh ohhhh it’s horny hours over here
