Having some sort of platform and anxiety is so bad because sometimes Iāll think āI wonder how many people dislike meā and then I go āoh I can just ask :)ā and the envisioned post goes like this
Hey does anyone hate me
?????????????????hi girl you canāt do that. Thatās not good for u.
for a game so heavily inspired by Lord of the Rings im forever surprised D&D cares so much about levels and gaining new ablities/skills/spells
the fellowship never levels up. Gandalf rerolls his stats a bit after dying, but everyone else just has to rely on cool new items, or helpful new friends, or fun combat pairings like Merry and Eowyn
"but stangent stats and no new magical/physical skills wouldn't be any fun!"
Wouldn't it? I had fun playing pretend fellowship as a kid. I didn't have to upgrade Gimli during those games. And aren't cool item drops already a ttrpg staple?
confusing to me. at the very least for new players or casual play, a level-less 0 upgrade game is so useful and Fun
I am once again thinking about Luffy tracing the scar on Hanaās back ā the one she got from defending her home from the Gwishin alone. Sheās naked in bed beside him, a little bit of that tough, marred skin barely visible beneath the strands of her brown hair.
Heād move it gently, brushing her hair away to look at the scar. It feels like his own, and he wonders if she ever gets nightmares about hers too. If she relives the moments of that day over and over, just like he does sometimes.
Hana would do the same for him, gently tracing the raised skin. Leaning down to press a soft kiss right in the middle of his chest while he gives a quiet āshishishiā.
She wonders if it ever hurts him ā if itās numb, or aches from time to time like hers.
You know... now that I'm finishing up writing the last chapter of the Golden Snidget, it's hit me that I'm gonna miss it.
Like yeah, I've got the next three books to do in the series still, and I'm *very* excited to dive into OotP, but I'm really gonna miss the vibes of this one...
close ups and longer oc thoughts under cut~ ((so much is subject to change though im only at dressrosa š¤”))
Brizo is a hybridā her mother, Saoirse, was a Mink Tribe descendant who had left her home island at a young age, meeting Brizoās father as an adult. The former parent quickly left Saoirse when he realized that their hybrid child attracted rampant racism and unpleasant comments wherever they went, ashamed of what he had helped create. Saoirse and Brizo lived on the outskirts of their island town, self-subsistent as many people refused to serve to them. Brizo was homeschooled as well because the other children would taunt and bully her; having always been quiet and well-mannered, she never fought back.
Being half-Mink, Brizo inherited the many instinctual traits of the tribeā she was agile and strong from birth, as well as a much more powerful metabolism and recovery rate. Outwardly, she only took her motherās ears, large eyes, and hints of a tail that pop out from her lower back (but serve no practical use in this form).
Saoirse was a deep-sea fisherman, aided by the fact she was a Pinniped (Sea Lion) Mink. Because she often brought home salmon and tuna, nigiri and sashimi are Brizoās go to meals. They would scavenge spoiled fruits and vegetables to grow as well. Though extremely impoverished, Brizo was content in her life.
Though I have not worked out the details of this point in her life, it is only when (at age 13) Brizo manages to consume the devil fruit that grants her the powers of the selkie that everything changesā specifically an ordeal that results in her motherās death and Brizoās powers becoming known to outside forces. Losing her mother breaks the already stoic and shy girl, as Saoirse was the only person to ever show her love or affection. Joining the Marines was not really a choice for Brizo at this pointā it was really her only option to avoid being hunted down by pirates who wanted to use her powers. The training was brutal, demanding much from the girl physically and mentally. During this time she began to read books on navigation, history, and philosophy, forming her knowledge and desire to be a source of justice and honor within the marineās ranks. Her new sense of vigor encouraged HQ to move her into a program intended to improve her coordination with her devil fruit powers. Though grueling in nature, carried heavily by the firm discipline of those in charge of her training, Brizo proved to be extraordinarily driven albeit socially inept, certainly the result of her years in an isolated training situation.
Brizo was released from her special deployment and promoted to lieutenant at 15, later becoming the captain of her fleet at 16. She was still bashful but learned to work with her unruly men, who formed a sort of brotherly bond with her. She gained the epithet of ā[the] Riptideā by her crewmates in this period of time due to her ability to manipulate the water and currents in them around her.
She is the captain of the fleet that Vice Admiral Garp, Koby, and Helmeppo accompany into the Grand Line, when she is 17. Koby is the first officer she meets that is close to her in age, and they quickly connect because of their mutual goal to become an outstanding marine. Koby is inspired by Brizoās discipline and intellect, but actually helps her learn to connect with others and express herself openly. Brizo was considered to be emotionless by many, never smiling or showing strong reactionsā in reality she had never learned how to process or communicate her feelings. Similarly she lacked any concept of what friendship (or affection) was like. Kobyās empathy helped her to become more open and comfortable with feeling her emotions. This is seen when she allows herself to break down following the Paramount War arc. Many of her men suffered gravely and some perished in the fight, Brizo hearing all of their voices and last thoughts due to her observation Haki skills. Despite the great grief the experience brought her, Koby is the one to encourage her to use those feelings to become even stronger.
She is quickly promoted to Commodore following Paramount War and spends much of the time skip between bases in the Grand Line and New World. On one particular excursion a year into TS she bonds with many children near her base who find her powers fascinating & share gifts from their village with her. Seeing children of a new generation who do not fear hybrids, even when they become aware of the fact that Brizo is not fully human, she finds a new sense of confidence in herself and purpose in her existence. She protects these children and their village from pirates who attempt to invade, making Brizo the Riptide known to the world. Her role as a commodore (later made into rear admiral) leads to her receiving a 5-star bounty like Kobyās from the Cross Guild.
Koby and Brizo spend a chunk of TS apart because of their different deployment orders. Brizo misses Koby greatly because sheās bonded with him so much, not realizing she has developed a crush on the officer as she has never had feelings for someone else before. Koby meanwhile is fully aware that he likes her but does not act on his feelings out of nervousness (and the fact that he was several ranks below her for so long). Their interactions get progressively more romantic even when brief, and the two have to some extent recognized their feelings for one another. Brizo is terrified of losing Koby and fears bringing some sort of disaster his way, whereas Koby shares similar fears but also wonders if he is good enough for someone like Brizo. Itās a somewhat undeclared but recognized relationship between the two as of now. Though they try to keep it quiet everyone knows thereās something going on, they just arenāt sure of what it is exactly. Most of them catch on the second they see the beaming smile that Brizo has when she crosses paths with Captain Koby, one sheās never worn before for anyone else in the past.
