Star Trek: The Next Generation I "I, Borg"
Beverly and Geordi caring for Hugh in the aftermath of his dissimilation surgeries. Because if canon won’t be at all kind to him, I guess it’s up to headcanon. (Reposting this as an after-dinner mint for @startrekpotluck, since it was referenced in my 'fic this year, but not added in the story itself, since the tone really didn't really match up. ;) )
Art by LyttaV on Bluesky (gallery not SFW!), who continues to just blow me away with their attention to detail.
'Choose what I want?
I would choose to stay with Geordi, but it is too dangerous. They will follow.
Return me to the crash site. It is the only way.' - hugh [to picard]
s t a r t r e k t h e n e x t g e n e r a t i o n created by gene roddenberry Third of Five / Hugh of Borg [i, borg, s5ep23]
you know that one scene where Hugh is at his lowest ebb, then behind him there's a ray of light and Elnor is running to help? yeah. I think about that a lot.
How to write a character off a show without killing them
Here is a list of different ways a character could leave a show without dying. With the right script they could all pack an emotional gut punch without rupturing someones spleen.
Prison
Coma
Missing at sea
Witness protection
Disappearing into the woods/Jungle
Etc.
thinking about Elnor lounging in flowy skirts on hot days.
thinking about Elnor getting to make flower crowns with Kestra and Soji and them braiding daises into his hair.
thinking about Elnor bundled up in a soft blanket on a chilly day.
thinking about Elnor being incredibly fascinated with Hugh's borg implants and scars.
i'm just thinking about Elnor.
As above, so it is below. That which has been, will return again. As in heaven, so on earth.
we really got these three appearing in a new star trek show and instead of teaming them up as part of a new storyline with the XBs and reclamation project that built off of “i, borg” and “the descent”, they just killed hugh off in season 1 and sidelined bev and geordi on nostalgia bait in season 3. a direct crime against me, personally.
