Even if the woman treading water before him didn't seem to have vengeance on her mind. Not so much as a hint of the burning rage that fueled her. He didn't blame her. Okay so, all freaking out aside (and trust me there is LOTS of freaking out), Yuuko and Ashura are definitely working on a deal here. But also a SERIOUS deal, because “Liquor of Eternal Youth” isn’t exactly something to be taken lightly. It’s gotta be something super expensive for that to be the payment, right? 

Yuuko’s face is utterly mystifying me in the last panel here but can you blame me. 

AND THEY FULL OUT EXPLAIN WHAT THEY PAID FOR AND EVERYTHING. I didn’t think we’d be so lucky. 

But all of this implies that Ashura knew about Mokona’s movements in the first place (unless they were told by Yuuko? Maybe she sends out pamphlets). More than that, Ashura needed Sakura and Syaoran in their world. I don’t know what Ashura wants to do with them but... I mean, Ashura. 

...I mean unless Ashura is just Yuuko’s ally in general and only moved them to their world specifically because it would break Evil Wolverine’s control over them. But it’s hard to say. 

Maybe both?

In the end Yuuko gets quite a lot out of this and EVIL WOLVERINE GETS NOTHING. SUCK IT EVIL WOLVERINE. 

I genuinely want to thank Ashura for this because it’s exactly what I was talking about during the last round of xxxholic liveblogs. Even when she wants to (or NEEDS to) Yuuko can’t interfere without someone paying a heavy price for it. She just can’t do it. She’s every bit as trapped by her position as she benefits from it. It just so happens that, this time around, Ashura had goals that aligned with Yuuko’s and it benefited them both while still adhering to the strictness of the Wish + Equal Cost = Result formula. Without that she would have been unable to step in and change anything, no matter what she personally wanted. 

And no-one will be able to manipulate Mokona’s trajectory ever again after this either. Which is fascinating in and of itself but I don’t think they’re going to explain exactly why, even though I really want to know. But then I want to know EVERYTHING so what’s new there? 

Still. STILL. Evil Wolverine confirmed for actual trash heap that must be stopped at all costs and YUUKO ICHIHARA CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN.
