Yeah I read it, here are my thoughts

This was definitely a moment, if maybe one that lends itself more to satirical fiction than plaintive essay but whatever. The ‘I was done wrong by systems’ essay is never all that likeable, not when it was ‘systemic classism is why Lena Dunham succeeded where I have not’ and nor when ‘systemic antiwhitemeninism is why Lena Dunham etc etc.’ But that doesn’t mean systemic analyses are wrong. They won’t ever fully account for individual trajectories (the supposed ‘nepotism’ benefiting Dunham doesn’t explain why I, a person who’s never written a TV script, does not have TV writing credits) but fine, sure.
