Y’all re-listening to The Man of the Future and Ramses is so good at manipulating and twisting words, especially since Juno is the one talking and he’s a fucking mess, but just one thing...

He said he values Juno’s opinions. He says he wanted Juno to be his right-hand man. Yet, as Juno points out, Ramses doesn’t actually listen to him. Because Ramses is a special type of ‘do-gooder’ that decides he knows what’s right, and when someone contradicts, decides that person just doesn’t know what’s best for them. He’s infuriating, but he’s also a master of manipulation and very, very rich. So why did he want Juno? Why would he want to bring someone along that is unpredictable and could probably slam dunk him any day?

He probably told the truth, at least a little bit, and he does see that Juno just wants to do right by the world. But I think it was also because he didn’t want a partner, he wanted a yes-man, who would stand by him, tell him he’s doing good just enough that he believed it, make fun of him just enough so he could delude himself that his ego wasn’t too big. And maybe he saw that Juno was just desperate for some concrete hope that he could pull him around by the nose on it. 

And maybe, just a little bit, he wanted Sarah Steel’s kid under his wing. Maybe he thought it was a little band-aid for his guilt if he did, if he had him on his side, because see? It was all worth it.
