Here’s the part 2 of ‘Ran’s a damsel in distress, cries all of the time and only thinks about Shinichi’ given by people who don’t like Ran argument. We all know that Ran’s an emotional character and here are some instances of her crying.

(1) Roller Coaster Murder Case (Files 1-2)-

Ran cries because she sees the dead body and is overwhelmed by it and continues to cry for a while.

(2)  An Idol’s Locked Room Murder Case (Files 6-9)-

Ran cries because she thinks that Shinichi’s disappeared and hasn’t contacted her.

(3) Masami Hirota Murder Case (Files 13-16)-

Ran cries when she sees the dead body of Masami.

(4) Karaoke Box Murder Case (Files 45-48)-

Ran cries because of the tragic reason why the victim died and then, later because Shinichi comes back.

(5) Pro-Soccer Player Case (Files 68-71)-

Ran cries because she thinks that Shinichi hasn’t contacted her when she’s been worrying all this time and yet, he was in contact with his ‘girlfriend’.

(6) Diplomat Murder Case (Files 92-96)-

Ran cries because Shinichi’s come back.

(7) Ski Lodge Murder Case (Files 139-143)-

Ran cries because the teacher she admired was found to be the culprit.

(8) Tattori Spider Mansion Case (Files 246-250)-

Ran cannot find the cell phone charger, so she and Kazuha go outside to find it, thinking it has dropped somewhere. Ran isn’t able to find Kazuha and she panics, she thinks it’s her fault and cries.

(9) Desperate Revival Arc (Files 251-260)-

Shinichi goes off to solve a case and then turns into Conan after the case is solved. Conan comes back in place of Shinichi, saying that Shinichi had to go solve a case, which makes Ran sad, saying that she doesn’t want to hear more excuses.

(10) Bloody Valentine (Files 331-334)-

Ran’s sad that she cannot give the chocolate to Shinichi because he’s not within reach and she cannot find him. Sonoko says that she’s strong because one of Ran’s closest friend/love interest has been gone for so long and yet, she doesn’t break down. To which Ran thinks, that she wishes she was that strong.

(11) Golden Apple-NY Arc (Files 350-354)-

Ran cries because she thinks it’s her fault that the victim died because she saved the culprit when the armor was falling down.

(12) Contact With The Black Organization (Files 377-380)-

Ran wonders if hearts grow apart if people are separated. And she says that the only thing that she can do is just wait for Shinichi and she wishes that Conan was Shinichi.

(13) Convenience Store Trap (Files 426-428)-

Ran’s friend Aya is suspected of stealing goods from the store and Ran has a possible deduction but she isn’t sure that it’s the correct one. She hesitates, fearing that if her deduction is wrong, her friend might end up in more trouble. She’s tense and nervous and when Shinichi calls her, she cries in relief.

(14) The Strange Family’s Request (Files 479-482)-

Ran’s suspicious that Conan is Shinichi and she wonders tearfully that why is he hiding the truth when he is so close to her.

(15) Deduction Battle on Ski Slope (Files 518-522)-

Ran gets teary after she hears the heartbreaking Yuki-onna story from Yukiko.

(16) Shiragami Arc (Files 646-654)-

Ran cries when the real Shinichi, who was dressed as Shiragami-sama reveals himself.

(17) White Day Murder (Files 725-727)-

Ran gets sad, rationalizing that Shinichi wouldn’t remember something like White Day but when even Sonoko gets a White Day gift, even though Makoto is so far away, she breaks down.

(18) London Arc (Files 743-752)-

Ran feels embarrassed and stupid that she was so enthusiastic about London and thinking that Shinichi would appreciate her going through such lengths to being back souvenirs so that he wouldn’t feel bad, but once she realizes that Shinichi was in London and had not even bothered to inform her, she starts crying.

(19) Shinichi Kudo’s Aquarium Case (Files 882-884)-

Ran’s cell phone scatters on the floor and falls through the drain, even though she just got it and she cries, saying that nothing ever good happens when she’s with him.

(20) Ran GIRL and Shinichi BOY (Files 921-924)-

Ran cries because the sakura badge Eri made for her with paper gets crumpled and then later, she cries because her teacher leaves the school, even though she admired him.

(21) A Cottage Surrounded by Zombies (Files 931-935)-

Ran’s terrified of seeing the zombies and she tears up.

So, these are the instances where she’s crying, as far as I remember. Feel free to add more instances where Ran’s crying.

a note on Dancing With Our Hands Tied (pt. 2):

all I want to talk about is “my, my love had been frozen”...it basically says she didn’t feel like she could love again. she thought her love was dark and tainted and blue (which we know she feels represents loss - see Red)...except then he came along and thawed her out and made her feel golden with love...and she was healed so much that what was once frozen became an avalanche.

because she might’ve been a mess - but she was the mess that he wanted.
