ROTBTD Worldbuilding
Here’s some trivia about my story universe to clear things up
The events of the respective movies (RotG, Brave, Tangled, HTTYD2) have not happened.
The worlds of the movies are combined into a one, except for RotG since the modern world doesn’t exist in this story. Burgess, Jack's hometown, however does exist.
The story takes place in few kingdoms close to each other, Kingdom of Corona being one of them. Most of the areas/countries are made up.
The ages of the characters have been altered a bit to make the four protags fit the same age group. Hiccup is 20, Rapunzel is 18, and Merida and Jack are 17-18.
When the four were taken to become Guardians, North had prepared a letter to be left behind for each. Since Punzie and Jack were alone, only Merida’s and Hiccup’s people got the letters. In them North explained the reason for the protags’ disappearances, but that didn’t stop people from forming desperate search parties.
Merida’s circumstances are almost the same as in Brave; her mother is making her marry and she is trying to escape this fate. No bears are involved.
Merida is the only actual royalty in the group.
Rapunzel is not a princess in this story. Similiar to canon, the flower was used to heal her mother, which gave Punzie her powers at birth. When she was a baby, people tried to kidnap her for her hair. Her mother (not Gothel) became paranoid and hid herself and baby Punzie in the tower. Mother only went out to get supplies, otherwise they lived in isolation, until Punzie’s mother died of illness a year before.
Gothel isn’t part of Punzie’s story in this.
After spending her whole life isolated, and with her mother’s warnings in her mind, Rapunzel hadn’t stepped outside the tower yet. When the yetis came for her, she saw it as a chance and a sign to venture out.
Hiccup and Toothless met like in canon.
Hiccup isn’t romantically involved with Astrid and Stoick is still alive, trying to prepare Hiccup for eventual leadership. Hiccup’s mom is out of the picture.
Jack is not immortal after his resurrection, so that he won’t be eventually left behind and be the only immortal one in the group.
Jack’s fate was like in canon, but instead of reviving him soon after, the Man in Moon preserved him in the realm between life and death for 200 years, frozen in time. Jack woke up only about 4-5 years before the story.
The original Guardians, North, Bunny, Sandy and Tooth have retired around a century ago to look after children and focus on their respective areas. They are immortal beings.
Guardians’ duty is to protect the world and its people from the forces of darkness. They are chosen to the role by the Man in Moon when a great evil rises.
After Guardians have fulfilled their task at hand, they can return back to their lives until their help is needed again (which is rather often).
Will’o’Wisps are souls of the dead, and helpers of the Man in the Moon. Occasionally they appear to guide people, and they especially keep eye on the Guardians for Manny.
When each of the four saw the wisps for the first time, it signaled them being chosen as Guardians. They saw them again just before being taken to meet North.
