there’s a bottle of tequila enveloped in his hands as he steps underneath the awning of the hotel, bouquet of flowers crushed against his chest, backpack around him like an embrace, suitcase rumbling behind him in an attempt to transport everything at once. in hindsight it’s a touch too much. he’s carrying far too many things but ever the ambitious, he makes it work. he’s been making a lot of things work lately. this trip, for starters being one of them. he should be in new york right now, settled behind his desk, scanning over documents fetched by an assistant but instead he’s reworked meetings, scheduled zooms and got projects in order —- each little duck placed and prodded in a row so that he can be here: surrounded by faded stone and salty air, more than four thousand miles from home. he knocks once, knocks twice and then begins the wait. hopes that despite being incredibly late, he’s right on time.

i have a fun assassination story! our royal family was killed and no one knows who did it even though it was in the middle of a royal family party. the most popular theory is that the crown prince killed the family because he wanted to marry a girl but he wasn’t allowed to because her parents insulted the family by calling them poor lmao. it’s said that he killed himself after he shot his parents/sibling but he shot himself in the right temple when he was left handed. another theory is that one of his cousins killed the family so that the cousin’s dad (the prince’s uncle) could be king. the uncle in question was not at the party, maybe to avoid being killed if something went wrong. there was a civil war going on at the time so people think communists killed the family because after they died the monarchy was abolished. we’ll never know because no one who was at the party, not even the palace staff, want to say anything for some reason. also fun fact the prince didn’t die immediatley after being shot, he went into a coma meaning he was the king for like a day before they yeeted the monarchy and he didn’t even know because he died later that day lol.
