Complete - Short - Hobbit

This is the first of a series of short stories to accompany my fiction "How Does the Garden Grow"

Kili stormed down into the deep halls uncaring at the scene he might be causing. He was angry and hurting. Tears of frustration pricking behind his eyes and blurring his path. 

At least until he came to the shrine, where he took a deep breath and entered at a more sedate pace. Lighting the stick of incense, placing it in the little pot of sand left for just that, kneeling before the maker and leaving the little golden bead he had spent so much time on designing and crafting, on the little shelf for offerings. An offering to the Valar instead of the hobbit who deserved so much better than this life had given him. 

Kili’s bead read Steadfast because Bilbo had always been there when they needed him the most. He knew it was supposed to be a marking that showed how Kili saw Bilbo but this time it had felt more appropriate to give a promise. Bilbo had always shown up when they needed him, and Kili wanted to return that care with a promise to always be there for the hobbit. 

But he couldn't do that if the hobbit wasn't around for him to protect. 

So he laid the little bead carefully on end, displaying the mark to their Marker and asked, voice strained with emotion he didn’t have words in Common to explain and would only shout about them  in rage in Khuzdul,"Please. Please let us keep him, let him grow into the stories already told of him, let him keep making my Uncle so very happy. Please don't take him before we can show him just how very loved he is by the Longbeards and the dwarves of Erebor. Please give us time."

Kili dashed the tears off his cheeks and exited the shrine. He didn't regret loving the little hobbit, never would for he'd never met anyone like Bilbo Baggins. He just wanted to make sure the hobbit knew how important he was, and how much they all wanted him in their lives. He wanted the time to heal the wounds left by Bilbo's own people. Dwarves, as everyone said, knew the value of a scar.

Kili frowned and promised himself that whether or not they would get enough time to show Bilbo that the hobbit was one of them Kili himself would at least do what he could to learn the lessons that only Bilbo could teach. For while dwarves were smaller than both Men and Elves, it took a different sort of courage to be the smallest of the intelligent races in a world where the strong ruled with iron fists.

I cannot stress enough that I NEED in on whatever the hell Geto and Gojo have going on. They’re soulmates, true love, actually married. I’m not trying to break that up. I just want to be included. I want to be the side piece. Like words actually cannot describe how DIABOLICALLY I want in on that
