I've been cultivating an alliance with the crows living nearby for years. I give them peanuts and now I have a pair that will sit on the deck every day and call to me until I bring the goodies. Today, for the first time, they left me a special shiny gift by their water dish.

Part of being Thornish is caring for our animal brothers and sisters. Also being a good steward and warden of the lands around us. Animals, birds, trees and mountains are all alive and sentient and we should remember that we are not superior to them...often times I think they are far superior to us.

When the rowan berries are ready to string into necklaces I know autumn is just around the corner. One of my favorite Thornish witchcraft practices.

In another world

I would be sitting in the firelight

with a few of you beside me

talking

teaching

sharing what I have gathered over the years.

When I was young

I yearned for a teacher

and had none.

Perhaps

the wind is telling me

that it is time for me to share the path into the Thornwood.

These teachings are not for everyone

but let my words reach

those who need to hear.

This

is a time of reflection

A time to change our ways

our world.
