The three-section staff. A really interesting and fun weapon - that cross between a staff and nunchaku makes it a pretty unique one to wield. It’s a weapon that I really don’t spend near enough time with, and need to practice much more.
It takes a little bit of getting used to (and a couple of bruises) but once you get the speed down it spins more or less as smoothly as a staff.
And as a little PSA: If anyone is keen to pick up a three-section staff, bo staff, or any other Chinese/Japanese weapon but, like me, don’t have anywhere local to train - I would strongly recommend heading over to the YouTube channel of Jake Mace and start learning from him.
Unlike many other instructional channels out there, Jake is a lot of fun to watch and learn from. He’s very skilled and really pulls you in to what he’s demonstrating. Most of what I know today comes from watching his videos.
Anyway! As ever, thank you for watching!
