Something I've realized that is deeply disturbing about at least two '80s cartoons that got revived in the 2010s:
From a modest, motherly warrior who didn't lose her kindness to a scandalous and horrifically temperamental "warrior" with a revenge streak a mile wide that causes multiple security concerns throughout the show.
Aside from the atrocious mixed messages from her 2010s self with regards to which guy she was interested in, at least Cheetara was still a nice girl come the 2010s.
From Thunderian nobility to Thunderian peasant-turned street thief. I mean the ThunderKittens were always the tricksters of the show, but that's a little much (not to mention a preteen should not be wearing the clothing Wilykit is, ESPECIALLY WHEN SHE'S LIVING OFF THE STREETS.)
But it's not just them. Trust me, I have a point with this post.
Not only was Pumyra given a mean streak in her introduction in the 2010s ThunderCats series as opposed to her sweet as anything personality in the 1980s original series, but she was allowed to keep her modest attire while made a villainess.
And do you know who else that reminds me of?
2010's Transformers: Prime Airachnid. A woman who was supposedly a femme fatale, yet has a more modest design and posing preference than TFP's Arcee (to say nothing of how the camera favors Arcee to an unnerving degree.)
Please tell me I'm not the only one seeing this.
