'Oh wow, she looks terrible! Guess she really is having a hard time with whatever happened to her. I know Reirei and Emi said they hadn't seen her in weeks, but...yikes.'

Ren would try his best not to stare as much as Kag was at him, but a part of him couldn't help it! This really was the first time he'd heard Kag talk in weeks and his curiosity just wanted him to pause so he could scan his 'mother' over in a hopes of figuring out what was wrong. He doubted this was anything he could fix personally, because from what Childe had mumbled before setting out, 'Kag needed plenty of rest and quiet time', so they should try their best not to bother her for awhile.

Still, Kag's voice seemed...hurt and distant. Even Ren had been able to pick that much up just from the little she'd said past the cracked door -- and he suddenly felt that much more sorry for her. Not that he'd mention that though.

" Uh...good. I've been good! Training's been going kinda slow lately since you've been hurt. We're all not sure what to do next until you're back to your old self again, but...I was helping to take care of Niko earlier! He's been more fussier than Anastasia and Sofia have been, but...I think the girls just like it more when they know Childe's around, too. "

Ren had left Childe mostly to taking care of an extra fussy Niko and all of his issues. Ren wasn't ready for that much responsibility in taking care of kids yet.

" Are you sure you're doing okay in here by yourself though? I know we're supposed to let you rest, but- "

" 'Welcome home'? Ha, when you put it like that, you make it sound like I've been gone for days! Today's case didn't even take that long to break and you were welcomed to come with me on the investigations, too- "

Suspicious? Not really. Heizou might've been a naturally curious person and his sleuthing skills were second to none, but he wasn't really doubting anything Cee had been up to all afternoon. She'd probably been busy sleeping and doing 'wolf things', he'd guess -- though it was a little odd she hadn't accompanied him on his investigative rounds that day either.

So Heizou would let a laugh slip out while he'd lift a hand to pat at one of her cheeks.

" You weren't working on anything 'top secret' while I was busy earlier, were you? "

✧˖° — He actually doesn't see it coming, so it pops him good with a resounding noise that makes at least one nearby citizen gasp... while the young girl Kaeya was having lunch with bursts into a fit of giggles as he grabs the fish and whirls around in shock.

"What in the --- ?!"

He finally spots one smug-looking Kagota nearby, but before he can call out to her... the fish flounders and smacks him on the cheek with it's tail, nearly knocking his eyepatch askew.

"Hey, now, that's unfair!" And yet, not totally uncalled for... "Kagota, I swear, I'll bite back!"

But it looks like she got away again.

She could be a feisty one, Wriothesley would give her that much! Maybe that was why he'd always found himself attracted to Astra in one way or another. She always knew how to keep life in the deep interesting, especially on days where the Fortress seemed at its most mundane and routine.

But today, however? Heh! Today Wriothesley was going to be the one to get the jump on his vixen! She'd caught him off guard on patrol earlier with a sneak attack he hadn't been expecting, but now he was the one on the attack!

Starting with the fact his office space was comprised of multiple layers with the entrance to said space being below where he stood now. So he'd decided to just lay in wait, the lights inside the office turned down low, with the Duke perched up on top of the nearby staircase like a wolf on the hunt. Out of sight, out of Astra's mind hopefully.

She wasn't the only one who'd mastered the art of stealth and surprised~

hi if you feel like writing thundertide that would be.... very epic of you. i just really like riptide, he's my beautiful stupid sharkboy who needs more love and just. it seems like such a good and wholesome ship? also i love everything you write?

Anon, I would love to write Thundertide but there’s a few obstacles between me and the sweet blue boys: 1. Time (the biggie) - I really want to finish Taking Care and if I keep interrupting it with side projects it’s never going to get done :/ 2. Conflict - I’m a drama writer at heart, I’m really not good at pure fluff. And Thundertide is such a perfect ship that I don’t know where to pull the drama from! Would love to hear suggestions on prompts/character conflicts
