An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
But she’s here. She’s alive and she’s here, in Tier 5, in the AM. And for that instant, rescue seems possible. Mark could get out of here with Joan’s help, and they could leave this place in the dust and Mark would be a free man once more.
He didn’t think he had any hope left in him. Mark hadn’t realized he’d been anticipating Joan finding him, that he’d been waiting and hoping for her with everything in him. He should know better than to hope, because Tier 5 is like a syringe, sucking his blood and hope and joy from his body for the AM to use and abuse. But Mark can’t help himself at that moment. A savior has come to help him escape from hell.
Back with another bad things happen bingo prompt! this time: hope is scary

Following the PM’s speech, we are now in Tier 5 lockdown.
So this happened today!!!!!
Roadmap, Gear.
It’s been an incredibly hectic week but I did finally read the fall roadmap. I have opinions (of course I have opinions), particularly about Tier 5 gearing but I’ll delve more deeply into that some other time. The guild was chatting quite a bit about it and to sum it up, it won’t be that bad and it is not necessary for most players. It really isn’t. I don’t mean that as an insult to anyone, or to trivialize what people enjoy doing in game but Tier 5 gear will really only be necessary for GFtM master mode operations and NiM content. The bulk of players do not raid on a regular basis, especially at that level of difficulty. I’m really only now just getting back into it after a couple of years myself because I found a guild that runs content regularly and the people <gasp> actually like me. <gasp>
Also, something I think is good to remember is that while gear is important, knowing how to play your spec and knowing the fights is far more important. I would rather bring a lower geared person with a positive attitude and KNOWLEDGE of their rotations and procs than someone with 248 who doesn’t know how to play. Yes, those do exist, especially after Master Datacrons were made available. I see people forking up the cash/cartel coins to bump characters to level 70/230 and if you ask them to do certain things (to cleanse, or ask them to interrupt, if they’re proc’ing their abilities, etc.) they’ll answer with... uh where is that? I’ve literally heard someone say “there’s a rotation?” I mean, that’s fine, especially if all you do is story but my point is, knowledge, skill, a positive attitude, and knowing fights is more important.
