✨Book Review✨ . Thank you HarperTeen for providing me with an eARC of Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson . ✨Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ . ✨Review: First I want to know why I've not heard anyone talking about this book. I mean excuse my language...but it was a huge fricking mind fuck. Like WHAT? . I started reading it Monday and could not put it down, so I finished it Monday also. I can't tell you guys how little that actually happens that I read a book in its entirety in a day. But man, I needed to know what happened and why it happened. And boy did I not see the ending coming. . And I seriously would have given this one a 5 star, but I ended up doing 4 but mainly because the end threw me for a loop so bad I was being petty as hell 🤷🏽‍♀️ I was legit mad at the way it ended 😂 . But seriously...this book is SO well written. The diversity issues were brought to light in such a great way. Mental illness had light shed on it, though I wish it had been dug into it a smidge deeper. And it shed loads of light on how corrupt the justice system can be. A lot of things that happened I just kept thinking "this couldn't happen in real life though right?" Boy...do some googling....that will stop that train of thought REAL quick. . So in the midst of all that word vomit up there I'm basically saying this book was great. I recommend the heck out of it. 🐉RATING: 🔥🔥🔥🔥/5 Whiteout is a collection of love stories, written by an all-star team of YA authors - Dhonielle Clayton, Tiffany P. Jackson, Nic Stone, Angie Thomas, Ashley Woodfolk, and Nicola Yoon. Clayton first brought the group together to write Blackout, published in 2021, a collection of loosely connected stories that take place when the power goes out in New York City. Unlike their first book, which had each chapter - each story - credited to its author, Whiteout intertwines its characters and fits them under the umbrella of a primary plotline. This modified format encourages the reader to guess the lead author of each character and their subplot. There are even hints in the authors’ note. A sweet series of teen love stories, Whiteout takes place in Atlanta during a rare snowstorm. Despite the obstacles - due to the snow and their own stubbornness - there are enough happy endings to program a week of Hallmark movies. There is strong LGBTQIA representation within the ensemble cast of characters, and their families are both structurally and ethnically diverse. Atlanta residents will appreciate references to popular landmarks, the original Snowpocolypse, and the spot-on descriptions of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport as well as highways I-75, I-85, and I-285. Atlanta native Nic Stone knows how traffic can turn any day into a nightmare. #tiffanydjackson became a favorite author for me ever since I #read Let Me Hear a Rhyme. Her #storytelling is superb and each #book has left me with a lot to think about. I knew #mondaysnotcoming was going to be a tough story. I mean it’s about a missing girl that can never be good right? But true to her style, Ms. Jackson twists the story all up, pulling at all your emotions at once and it left me sobbing. I have worked with kids most of my life and have not only had to report child abuse on more than one occasion, but have also had to deal with it’s repercussions, so this book brought up a lot for me.
