✿ How many Discworld Books have you read?

ALL OF THEM, except that I’m not sure if I ever made it all the way through Eric or not? It was a while ago. So either 40 or 39 and a fraction.

✓ What is your favorite Discworld novel?

It’s hard to narrow it down, but top contenders are: Small Gods, Monstrous Regiment, Going Postal, Night Watch, The Truth, The Wee Free Men

♣  Which book would you recommend to newbies?

I frequently suggest that people start with Small Gods, since it’s one of the best and it’s completely standalone.

These days with how much I know all my friends are starved for woman-filled stories I’ll sometimes recommend starting with Monstrous Regiment, also one of the best and MOSTLY standalone. 

I have given many people full recommended-reading-order lists. I personalize them somewhat to the person’s tastes as I know them.

There are SO MANY good lines in every book it’s hard to narrow it down. I’m posting quotes on here all the time, lol. 

Here’s a few good ones that I found going through the first couple of pages of my Discworld tag.

▲ Pick your favorite--dwarfs or trolls? wizards or witches? vampires or werewolves?

Dwarfs because I’m really fascinated by their gender system (I’m always meaning to make a post about it) but I would really like to have known more about the troll’s culture, like details on the history chant or something. How do the trolls in the mountains live? We meet plenty of dwarfs in their mines but we only ever really meet city trolls in the series. 

Witches, obviously. They have a much better understanding of magic, power, and community than the wizards do, imo.

And, as much as I love Angua, vampires. Definitely vampires. You can’t beat Otto, the goofy light-obsessed photography for the Times. Or Maladicta, coffee-fueled corporal and everyone’s first gay crush.
