I'm in my 'Heck, I have a huge crush on Ben Barnes,' Era - AGAIN
Finished 6 whole episodes of the institute.
I was literally on the edge of my seat the whole time during the last 2 episodes. ( I blame Stephen King)
Having to watch Ben Barnes as the outlaw cop is just the cherry on the top.
If you are looking for a weekend binge watch or a new crime thriller.
The institute is an adept choice.
I'm still debating on how I feel about the new series 'The Institute' (I'm just a couple of episodes in)
But it's so freaking refreshing to see Ben Barnes in a Protagonist role, ( I mean it's about time the man got a good guyA role)
I really really want to run my hand through his hair, take him to dinner and do other things.
You are killing me Benjamin 😭
Ben Barnes as Tim Jamieson
The Institute 2025, MGM+
oh look i finished the fic i wrote for the institute
...like 2 months after i wrote the majority of it but THAT'S OKAY.
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
A Post-Season 1 fic in which the kids are all weary and traumatized.
Excerpt:
They take turns drinking tap water from the two plastic cups provided by the room. Tim ducks out again, returning with an armful of vending machine snacks. “We’ll hit the road again soon,” he promises, “but this should tide us over.”
No one tells him about the vending machines in the Institute, or that he could have saved his coin by bringing George along on the snack run. Luke waits until the others have made their choices before bending over the pile, aware that Tim is right, that they should eat—
His hand stops over a package of jerky. Protein, he thinks.
And then Luke is retching, and his head is spinning, and he can hear people shouting in alarm but he can’t focus on that now, because all he can see—all he can hear is—
I loved having friends.
When he comes back to himself, Luke is slouched in the desk chair where the ear-tag operations took place. Tim is kneeling in front of him, trying to press a plastic cup of water in his hand. Something cold is at his neck; Luke fumbles for it and dislodges a hand towel, which spills ice onto the carpet.
“It’s okay, you’re okay,” Tim is repeating, over and over, like he’s been at it for a while.
Luke blinks at him blearily.
“There you are,” says Tim. “Take a sip, there you go.”
Luke sips the water. It doesn’t help against the sting of bile in his throat. He blinks again, aware that his lashes are waterlogged. But that’s not real crying, is it? He wishes it were, wishes he could just let go of the tension tying his stomach up in knots, fall against Tim’s chest, and sob for all the things he’s lost.
Soon, maybe. But not yet.
“Are you still feeling sick?” Tim asks. “Did you hit your head at some point?” And he starts running his hands through Luke’s hair, searching for a hidden injury.
It takes an embarrassingly long time for Luke to realize Tim thinks it’s a concussion. He shakes his head, wordlessly.
From across the room, he hears Nicky explain in a low voice, “Avery gave him jerky, before he got out.”
