Postage stamps celebrating the 1st portuguese-hispanic-american congress of economic geology* issued in Portugal on September 24, 1974 by the Casa da Moeda - Portuguese Mint (later in 1972 merged with the National Printing House becoming NPH and Mint).

Portuguese Postage stamps issued on December 18th 1974, to celebrate the peaceful military coup on April 25th of that same year.

The MFA, initials for: “Movimento das Forças Armadas” (armed forces movement) was the responsible for the peaceful military coup putting an end to 40 years of dictatorship. This coup was led by the military of lower rank who used Portuguese traditonal intervention songs as secret signs to act. After the coup, and before there was order enough to establish a proper government, the Armed Forces, this time, officers of higher ranks, where assigned the leadership of Portugal (until 1975) then known as Junta de Salvação Nacional (National Salvation Comittee). On March 1975, a constitutional law abolished the JSN and established a revolutionary council (extinct in 1982 when the VIII Consitutional Government was formed) where many members of the former comittee were reinstated.
