mmhmmmm, the book was subtle about it but the movie just made it EVEN SUBTLER asdfghjk. i mean... it’s such a lovely recipe. bisexual drama queen spy with communist leanings and his best friend/boy friend since college that he tries to save at all costs thereby risking his exposure. we couldve had this.

Okay, but like, I’ve been having so many thoughts about villain!Merlin AUs.

Merlin being, not the tech wizard, but an undercover agent, going into deep cover long before Eggsy joins Kingsman in order to dismantle a huge crime network. Harry recruiting Eggsy, and Eggsy having to fight Merlin, not knowing that he’s actually on their side. Eggsy being shocked when Merlin shows up at Kingsman headquarters and kisses Harry, asking if he missed him. 

Or better yet;

Merlin actually being a villain. Harry flirting relentlessly with him every time he gets captured. Merlin not being able to really torture Harry like the others because damn it, he likes this one.

Merlin as a Kingsman agent gone rouge. He knows the workings of the organization inside and out, and works to tear it down piece by piece (”Why are you doing this? You know our mission is to preserve peace.” “You mission is to preserve the status quo, and you know it.”)

Merlin as one of Valentine’s competitors, and now that the competition is out of the way there’s really nothing stopping him from buying out Valentine’s company, taking his research, and using it for his own plans for world domination. Harry comes back from the dead being reassured by Eggsy that it’s all over, only for the same shit to start resurfacing again under a slightly different banner.

Merlahad ala reverse!Tinker Tailor; Kingsman discovers a mole, and Harry figures out that it could only be his partner. Having to decide whether to kill him himself of turn him in.

Just...I really need some villain!Merlin in my life.

Tinker Tailor || Arthur & Gideon

May 30th 1979 Order Safe House @arthurs-weasley

Gideon did not like being this anxious all the time. He was used to being worried in small bursts, maybe for a day or two at the most. But this was a near constant churning in his stomach and he would be very thankful if it would kindly go away now, please. 

He wasn’t going to leave Aversio. It was true, they had messed up big time, but that just meant they had to fix it. He wasn’t jumping ship at this point. That didn't mean he was going to shout about it whilst in a safe castle full of Order members though. And so he was anxious and restless. Either he needed a distraction, or he needed a productive outlet. Unfortunately for Arthur, Gideon had decided that he would be the unlucky victim today, that would provide either or both for him. 

It was very odd trying to remember a time when Arthur hadn’t been as close as a brother to Gideon, the difference being that it was a relationship they had chosen. In theory, it was optional for them to get along so well, in theory, they could fall out at any time (although Molly would have a lot to say about it). Perhaps this was why he felt he needed to prove his worth to Arthur, at a time when he was feeling exceptionally guilty.

He approached Arthur’s workspace cautiously, not sure if he was trying to make the man jump, or trying to avoid it. He realised a little too late, that if he hadn’t wanted Arthur to jump he should have approached a little louder, whistled a tune or stamped his feet or something. Now it was too late, he settled instead for clearing his throat. 

“What you working on?” He asked, taking a seat. Gideon was interested in muggle artifacts, not as interested as Arthur, but interested nonetheless. At home, he had a muggle record player that Arthur had helped his set up, and it was one of his favorite possessions. “Can I help?” He very desperately wanted to help someone with anything.
