Gar Logan Head Cannons in a Relationship with Reader PT. 2
(gif isn’t mine)
Alright, Gar would definitely love cuddling with you like you cannot convince me otherwise. Going to sleep. You're both cuddling. Lying on the couch watching tv. Cuddling. Heck bored. Cuddling. Pretty much my point is you two cuddle all the time. But how?
Well he prefers him being the big spoon, as it feels like he's protecting you. He'll have his arms around you and you'll most likely be holding his arm. His elbow will probably be around your stomach area and his hand would be somewhere on your chest -shoulder area.
But, if you two are watching tv. He will lay between your legs whether he's looking at the ceiling or his face is nuzzled in your stomach you better be scratching or massaging his scalp. Otherwise he'll grab your hand and place it onto his head and insist you give him attention.
Also, he can be very needy when it comes to attention. He practically lives off your attention. Whether that be talking, hugging, cuddling, kisses, training. Anything to have your attention. It's almost as if you stop giving him attention he'll die, which he will.
Now let's talk about you giving him the silent treatment. At first he'll act cool about it and act as if he doesn't care, but about 30 minutes in he'll start overthinking, then about an hour in he'll start talking to you to see if you'll tell him why your acting like this. Not long after that he'll start following you around like a lost puppy trotting behind you. Once you give in and you both talk about what's happened, be prepared for the next day. He'll cling onto you like a Koala. Holding hands, hugs, kisses, resting his head on your shoulder you won't be doing anything alone.
Alright how about kisses you ask me. Well, they can be either one of two ways short and sweet or long and passionate. I think you can guess the difference between the two and when they're used. You'll usually give him a short and sweet kiss when walking past him in the hallways or when you're going somewhere. The longer and more passionate ones are more done when you're both alone... in a room... together, usually when no one's in the tower. Or they're when you two are making out but that's really it.
So what if you are a fairly physically affectionate person. Of course no matter what he's not very used to the touch of another person but he's always going to embrace it and enjoy it. Even him being physically affectionate to you, he's new to it and is sometimes scared your going to think he's way too clingy.
Legit i can't be bothered to check the first part but I can't remember if I added it so imma add it here.
He is very protective of you. Like he's not so much as jealous just protective. He's like a guard dog and doesn't want anything to happen to you. He's watching you like a hawk. (haha get it, okay ill shut up now) He's always behind you or has an arm around you. You are going out on a girls day. He'll be a girl for the day. You being harassed by someone when he's a few meters away. He'll show his fangs and his eyes will go green. If that doesn't work you be he'll walk over to you, wrap an arm around you and stare this man down like no tomorrow.
So pretty much you're a lucky person and have a great bf material bf. He's a keeper
It was 100% Jason Todd’s fault. Of course it was, who else would sneak beer and tequila into the tower when Dick forbid the underage Titans from drinking. The ‘grown-ups’ were out on business and so the baby Titans were free for the night, which is when Jason pulled out the drinks and yelled ‘LET’S GET LIT!’ before tossing a bottle to Y/N, who quickly caught it.
‘I don’t know,’ Rachel frowned, folding her arms. ‘If we get caught, we’re gonna get in serious trouble.’
‘You don’t have to drink, Rach,’ Y/N assured her, making Jason nod in agreement as he took the cap off his drink, taking a swig.
‘Yeah, don’t feel pressured,’ Jason said as Y/N gestured for him to take the cap off of hers, which he did. She smiled in thanks before taking another bottle and walking over to Gar, who was sitting on the sofa.
‘Got you a drink,’ she said, handing it to him.
‘Thanks,’ he smiled at her, ‘would you mind?’ Gar asked holding the neck of the bottle out, knowing how she could take the cap off. Y/N smiled cheeky before pointing a finger at the metal cap, letting a small, spark of lighting out of the tip which struck the cap, sending it flying off into the air.
‘Why’d you like that so much?’ Y/N chuckled, taking the spot next to him on the sofa.
‘Why don’t you?’ Gar shot back, hinting at to how he saw her ask Jason to take the cap off. He took a swig and cocked his eyebrow.
‘When you nearly electrocute someone to death, you tend to avoid using your powers.’
‘Well, that’s valid,’ Gar coughed and nodded. Y/N had avoided talking about her abilities since the Titans knew about them. She had them, end of discussion. No more needed to be said about it. That didn’t stop them from wanting to know, but Y/N held her cards close to her chest, only using her powers when absolutely necessary.
‘Don’t tell anyone,’ Y/N asked him in a small voice, ‘it’s not something I like people knowing about. It was a big thing in town and it nearly got me killed.’
‘Course,’ Gar assured her. He didn’t blame her for not wanting others to know. Y/N came from one of those towns, those places where those who were different were outcast, and that was if they were lucky. Worst case was they were experimented on or killed. Y/N was fortunate in the fact that she managed to escape, not everyone got that. ‘Can I ask something?’
‘If you must.’
‘Is that how you found out that you, you know…’ ‘are a freak?’
‘You’re not a freak, I was going to say gifted.’
‘You say tomato, I say to-mah-to,’ Y/N shrugged, taking another swig.
Gar, unsurprisingly, was a complete and utter lightweight. Whenever he finished one bottle, Jason was handing him another one. There was a constant stream of booze down his throat and so, of course, he quickly got drunk. Drunk Gar was no harm, a complete sweetheart really, but to Y/N, who had been given babysitting duty over the green haired lad, he was a nuisance. She liked Gar, a great deal really, but she didn’t want to spend her night watching Gar and making sure he didn’t pass out in a puddle of his own vomit. She wanted to relax.
‘Waaaaaay, Heyyyyy,’ Gar giggled as he stumbled up around, Y/N trailing after him. He spun around, wobbling as he did, putting his hands on Y/N’s shoulders. She was significantly more sober than Gar was. ‘You are my favourite person in the whole entire universe – you know that, right?’
‘Thank you, Gar,’ Y/N smiled. Gar had, in fact, told Y/N that same comment about twenty times in the past ten minutes, promptly forgetting that he had before repeating it. Total lightweight. Y/N had learned to just thank him and let him carry on.
‘Why don’t you have a boyfriend?’ Gar asked, pouting and tilting his head to the side. ‘You’re sweet, smart, cool, and super beautiful. How don’t you have, like, ten dates a night?’ He plonked himself onto his bed, sitting on the edge, letting Y/N take the spot next to him.
‘I don’t know,’ Y/N shrugged. Gar was drunk enough that he sure as hell weren’t gonna be remembering this conversation, Y/N thought, so why not take the opportunity to clear her mind. ‘I’m not a very trusting person, Gar, and you know that. How’d I know the difference between the guy who wants to kiss me or kill me for being a freak?’
‘You’re not a freak,’ Gar told her softly, placing his head on her shoulder, ‘you’re wonderful.’
‘I’m a freak,’ Y/N said quietly, ‘I was born with this unwanted ability to control lighting, and if I don’t control it well enough, I hurt the people I care about.’
‘That doesn’t mean you’re a freak,’ Gar said, ‘and anyone who wants to kill you will have to go through me to get you,’ he declared lifting his head and looking her in the eye, ‘cause I’m the guy what wants to kiss you.’
‘You do?’ Y/N stared at him. It completely took her by surprise. Maybe being on Gar Duty wasn’t so bad, if the sweet boy revealed how he felt about her.
‘Very much so,’ Gar nodded drunkenly, ‘Your lips look so lovely and soft. It’d be like kissing a cloud…’ he trailed off staring at her.
‘You’re drunk, Gar,’ Y/N chuckled, looking down as she turned red. ‘You don’t know what you’re saying.’
‘Course I know what I’m saying,’ his chest puffed out, ‘and I’m not drunk. I had the same amount as Jason!’
‘That’s what I mean,’ she smiled, ‘come on, lay down.’
‘Hey, hey,’ Gar pouted, ‘I don’t know what you’re playing at here, but I’ve got a girl I’m in love with!’ He said, blinding trying to push Y/N off the bed, ‘I don’t want Y/N to catch us like this.’
Y/N couldn’t help but giggle, covering her mouth as she fell onto the ground from Gar drunkenly shoving her. ‘Gar!’
‘Y/N?’ he frowned in confusion, ‘Y/N!’ he then said with glee while she got to her feet.
‘Hey you,’ Y/N said through giggles, ‘why don’t you lay down and get some rest?’
‘Well, I don’t want to.’
‘Why not?’
‘Cause I wanna cuddle!’ His eyes grew large, ‘can we cuddle please?’
‘I don’t know…’
‘It’ll help me sleep.’
‘Alright, fine,’ Y/N nodded as she laid on the bed, letting Gar snuggle into her as she wrapped her arms around him.
As the sun shone in the following morning, Y/N felt Gar snuggle in deeper to her as he groaned, trying to shield his eyes from the sun.
‘Ugh, my head!’ He moaned.
‘I did warn you about drinking,’ she chuckled.
‘Did you?’
‘Good God, you were so drunk last night, of course you don’t remember a damn thing.’
‘Please tell me I didn’t do anything stupid,’ Gar said as he rolled off of Y/N and pushed his head into the pillow. ‘Wait, why are you in my bed?’
‘You refused to sleep unless I’d cuddle you.’
‘Oh, God!’ He whined, ‘I hate myself.’
‘No,’ Y/N smiled sitting up, ‘it was sweet. You said I was comfy.’
‘PLEASE, STOP!’
‘You also said you want to kiss me.’
‘NO!’
‘No, you don’t want to kiss me?’ Y/N frowned in confusion. She had to admit, the thought of Gar being so shocked and upset about the thought of kissing her hurt more than she wanted.
‘That’s not it,’ Gar shook his head furiously and sat upright, ‘I… didn’t want to tell you how I felt when I was stupidly drunk. I wanted to be sober.’
‘Well, you’re sober now, right?’
‘Well, yes…’
‘Then tell me now,’ Y/N said in a soft voice as though speaking any louder would shatter the moment.
‘I really want to kiss you,’ he whispered, placing his hand on her cheek.
‘Then kiss me,’ she said as Gar leaned in and gently pressed his lips against hers, both smiling happily at Drunk Gar for finally having the courage to tell Y/N how he felt.
‘So, have you thought of what to teach me?’ Y/N asked Gar as they circled each other on the shore, in the middle of their training. After years of experience training as an Amazon, Y/N had master the skill of multitasking her social life with her training life, something Gar was still trying to pick up on.
‘Um, I,’ Gar shook his head, ‘not yet, but I’m thinking. You know a lot more than I do, I don’t want to pick something boring!’
‘Well, I’m sure whatever you pick will be fascinating,’ Y/N smiled as she countered an attack, ‘take your time. We’re in no rush. After all, it seems you’re here for a while.’
Rachel and the Amazons were nowhere near finished. Rachel did apologize to Gar for how long it was taking, but Gar was more than fine. It meant he could spend more and more time with Y/N. He didn’t want to leave Themyscira.
‘Is it wrong that I don’t want to leave?’ Gar asked causing Y/N to halt in her movements. Well. This clearly wasn’t a conversation to have while going after one another with swords. Y/N stepped back, dropped her sword to the ground and sat on the sand, gesturing for Gar to sit next to her. Gar gently placed the sword down, almost scared he would damage it, before taking the spot next to Y/N. Y/N had stretched her legs out and leaned back on her arms while Gar crossed his legs.
‘Why does it feel wrong?’
‘I don’t know,’ he shrugged with a sigh. ‘I guess I feel guilty about it or something, like… I don’t deserve it.’
Y/N sat up properly and moved to look at Gar, who met her gaze, almost ashamed. She placed a hand on his cheek and stroked it softly, moving it up to brush his green hair from his eyes.
‘Don’t speak like that,’ she told him, ‘you are here on Amazon because you deserve it. There is nothing, and I mean nothing, you need to feel guilty about.’
‘I’ve killed,’ Gar confessed, ‘I have taken a life. Shouldn’t that be enough not to be let onto Themyscira?’
‘Why?’ Y/N asked, ‘Why did you kill? Why is that enough to warrant throwing you off the island?’
‘Protection, the first time…’ his voice broke as he spoke, ‘then… mind control…’
‘You really think we’d banish you for that? None should judge you for that. You had no choice in the matter, both times.’
‘I should’ve fought harder against the mind control,’ he whispered.
‘There was nothing you could do, Gar,’ Y/N said softly, ‘you shouldn’t beat yourself up.’ Gar smiled sadly as Y/N tried to make him feel better, but to no avail. Y/N sighed and got to her feet, offering her hand for him to take, which he did, pulling him to his feet. ‘Well, I think we should stop training today and go and have fun instead!’
‘Really?’
‘Yes,’ Y/N nodded firmly, ‘You have every right to be here on Themyscira, and so you should be able to enjoy it!’
‘Alright,’ Gar said with a tiny smile, ‘what’d you have in mind?’
Gar thought he had seen all that Themyscira had to offer. He had all the time in the world to explore the island, but he hadn’t seen where Y/N had taken him before. A breath-taking brilliant blue waterfall with a lagoon attached below. The water glistened and sparkled under the sun. The lagoon was surrounded by green – bushes, grass, trees – and had rocks lodged around it.
‘Wow,’ Gar gasped as Y/N let go of his hand to let him look around properly. ‘Just… wow…’
‘This is my favorite place to go,’ Y/N explained, ‘whenever I’m down, overwhelmed, happy, excited, here is where I want to be. I thought you would like to see it, use it, and escape to here if you want.’
Gar turned and looked at Y/N in awe before walking up to her and wrapping his arms around her waist to hold her close to him. He smiled and nuzzled into her neck.
‘Thank you,’ he mumbled into her skin as Y/N smiled and wrapped her arms around him. ‘For showing me this, and for trusting me with it.’
‘Course,’ Y/N said softly as they pulled apart. ‘Come on,’ Y/N gestured as she walked to the lagoon, ‘The water is always the perfect temperature for swimming, you’ll love it.’
‘Y/N, I don’t have trunks, and you don’t have a swim suit.’
‘Swim suit?’ Y/N frowned, ‘I was going to remove my clothing and swim like that.’
‘Nude?!’ Gar’s eyes bulged out as he realized what Y/N was saying. Y/N nodded.
‘You have a problem with that?’
‘Well, I mean, I…’ Gar tripped over himself, ‘its… intimate…’
‘I’ve seen you nude before, remember?’ Y/N pointed out, ‘tit for tat. We’ll be even,’ she shrugged as she began to kick off her footwear. Gar, realizing that she was beginning to strip, turned his back to give her privacy, hearing Y/N giggle as he did. He stared away from her as he listened, hearing clothing hit the ground and the whooshing of water as she stepped into the lagoon. ‘I’m in the water now,’ she sang out. Gar turned back around to see the pile of clothes on the floor and Y/N in the blue water, her bare shoulders visible. His cheeks started to turn red as she laughed freely and swished her arms in the water creating small current as she did. ‘Are you coming in?’
‘So, um…’ Gar stuttered, ‘Yes,’ he nodded, ‘I’d like to come in the water too…’ He looked nervous and lowered his gaze, blushing.
‘Want me to turn around?’
‘Please.’
‘Alright,’ Y/N nodded as she turned her back to Gar. ‘I have seen it before, remember? Nothing to be worried about.
‘I’m modest,’ Gar said as he folded his jacket and placed it on the ground, putting his shoes next to it before stripping the rest of his clothing from his body. He kept his eyes on Y/N’s back, as though worried she’d turn and catch him in his indecent appearance. He used his hands to preserve his modest before stepping into the water and removing them when completely submerged. ‘Okay, you can turn,’ Gar said softly as his chest was pressed against Y/N’s back.
Y/N turned with a smile on her face, gazing into Gar’s eyes. Gar smiled and looked back. She placed her hands on his shoulders and traced her fingers over his skin, admiring him as Gar trailed his own fingers over Y/N’s forearms, pressing a kiss on her wrists, her arm, her shoulder, her neck, her cheek.
‘Hello,’ Y/N whispered with a smile as he reached her face.
‘Hey,’ Gar grinned gently. He studied her face closely. ‘I love you,’ he told her.
‘I love you too,’ Y/N said as Gar leaned in, kissing her square on the mouth, wrapping his arms around her bare waist, feeling her skin beneath his finger. He held her close to him. Naked body against naked body.
For a second, for a moment, Gar didn’t question if he deserved to be there, he was there.
Gar had spent ages and ages wracking his head trying to think of something, anything that he would be able to teach the beautiful Amazonian, but still couldn’t think of anything. He couldn’t teach her any fighting – she was an expert in all of it. He couldn’t teach her hunting – she was an expert in all of it. Same with survival skills.
‘You’re over thinking this,’ Rachel told him. ‘You just need to stop freaking out for a moment.’
Rachel watched him as he paced up and down and up and down his room. Occasionally he’d stop, yell out an idea before shaking his head, disregarding it as stupid. While it was funny at first, Rachel was slowly starting to become incredibly annoyed by it. She was slouching on his bed, her shoes kicked off and her feet resting on the comfy sheets as her led lolled around while watching Gar pace and pace and pace.
‘I don’t want her to think I’m stupid,’ Gar groaned, ‘she’s incredible and can do way better than me.’
‘But she chose you,’ Rachel pointed out.
‘Cause she’s never met another guy before!’
‘That’s beside the point – if she didn’t want you, she wouldn’t be with you.’ Rachel insisted, ‘She wants you to teach her something, so what could you teach her?’
‘Um... gaming?’ Gar thought aloud, ‘wait, no electricity and no gaming console’ he realised.
‘Even paradise isn’t perfect,’ Rachel shrugged, ‘come on, what else? Think, what would a girl from Themyscira not know about Man’s world that we do?’
‘A date?’ Gar said hesitantly. Yes. A date. Dates were something teenagers like them did all the time, but being the only teenager on the island, regardless of gender, she hadn’t experienced one before. Drive-ins and movies and popcorns and sharing a single milkshake with two straws. The shyness that happened as one hesitantly put an arm around the other, blushing out of giddiness. ‘A date,’ he repeated more confidently, turning to face Rachel who had a large grin on her face. ‘You knew that didn’t you?’
‘I wanted you to get it yourself rather than telling you,’ she confessed, ‘now, how you gonna do it?’
‘Why do I feel you already know?’
‘This is your date,’ Rachel shrugged, ‘not mine so your idea is what matters.’
‘Well, can’t exactly go to the movies and watch a rom-com,’ Gar said sitting on the foot of the bed as Rachel overtook the rest. ‘I can cook!’
‘Can you though?’ Rachel cocked her head to the side in judgement.
‘I can find food?’
‘I’ll help you cook something,’ Rachel assured him. ‘What else?’
‘I’ll take her to her favourite spot and we’ll have a picnic and star-gaze?’
‘Good plan,’ Rachel nodded in approval, ‘we’ll cross the cooking bridge when we come to it, but that’s a good idea.’
‘So, what brings you to my home?’ Y/N grinned, ‘I thought Sofia turned you into a Scaredy-Cat.’
‘Why? Is she here?’ Gar panicked, eyes widened. He thought Sofia would be out at the meeting that Rachel was at, not here, not when Gar was.
‘She’s not here, don’t worry,’ Y/N said with a laugh as she looked at his frightened face, rolling her eyes when Gar let out a massive sigh of relief. ‘She’s honestly not that frightening, Gar.’
‘She is when she can snap your spine like a twig!’
‘Sofia wouldn’t dare do that,’ Y/N assured him, ‘I like you too much for her to do that.’
‘That isn’t very reassuring.’ Gar gulped, ‘my survival hinges on you remaining interested in me.’
‘Well, you have nothing to worry about,’ Y/N said, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him in for a passionate kiss, ‘as I will certainly be interested in you for a long, long time – potentially all of my days.’
‘I like the sound of that,’ Gar grinned like a cat that got the cream, kissing her again, ‘and not because it keeps me alive.’
‘Good to know,’ Y/N smiled, pulling back, ‘would you like a snack? We have a lot of fruit to choose from.’
‘Blackberries would be nice?’
‘Blackberries it is.’
As they sat down at the table, a bowl of blackberries between them, they smiled to each other. Y/N wrapped her hands on the seat of the chair as Gar’s leg jittered uncontrollable.
‘Thanks,’ Gar said shyly as he ate a single blackberry, chewing slowly.
‘What brought you by?’ she asked him.
‘I thought of something to teach you,’ Gar said softly, twiddling his fingers.
‘Yes?’ Y/N asked curiously.
‘Well, you see,’ he gulped, ‘I wanted to teach you about dating.’
‘Dating?’
‘Yeah,’ he nodded, ‘when two people who like each other, romantically, do romantic things to get to know each other and slowly progress their relationship. I thought that, well, you’re from the world of man but you’ve been raised amazon, and life here is so different to what you would’ve had I’d… try and show you what you would’ve had if you weren’t… experimented on… if you want…’
‘So you want to take me on a dating?’
‘A date,’ Gar corrected kindly, ‘and yes, if you want…’
‘I’d like that,’ Y/N nodded firmly. ‘What would we do on a date?’
‘Depends – Themyscira doesn’t have a lot of the things we have, but I’ve got an idea of how to take you on a date,’ Gar explained, ‘I was thinking a picnic and star-gazing – if you don’t like the idea of that then we can come up with something else.’
‘It sounds wonderful,’ Y/N assured him. ‘What will be eating?’
‘That’s a surprise!’ Gar grinned, ‘just a question though, are you allergic to anything?’
‘No.’
‘Good, well, I’m going to go and sort it all out,’ Gar got to his feet, grabbing a handful of blackberries to snack on as he walked back to his lodgings, ‘I’ll pick you up at sunset,’ he told her.
‘I look forward to it,’ Y/N told him.
A date. It sounded so nice and sweet. Date. There was a sort of innocence to the world, Y/N thought as she imagined what her date with Gar would be like. Star-gazing, Gar said. She had a telescope in her room, perhaps she would bring it along. If they were to look at the stars, she imagined a telescope would be very handy.
Y/N gave Gar a sweet kiss to say farewell for now and waved him goodbye, watching him walk down the coast until he disappeared. When he was out of sight, Y/N grinned and giggled, wrapping her arms around herself.
“I should head home,” Y/N said, “Sofia must be worried.”
“Oh, right,” Gar nodded as he stood up, “can I walk you home?”
“I would like that,” Y/N nodded as Rachel smiled and rolled her eyes.
“See ya later, Gar” Rachel also got to her feet, “It was very nice to meet you, Y/N.” She chuckled as Gar poked the floor with his shoe, red stretching up his neck to his forehead as Rachel grinned wickedly. Gar Logan was whipped as hell for this Amazon chick. If Y/N knew what that was and what that meant, she’d have a cheeky smile on her face and would be teasing the life out of Gar. Rachel strolled out the room, chuckling as she did.
“So, out the door or the window?” Gar asked playfully.
“Considering that if someone saw me walking out of the door here, it’d spread around Themyscira quicker than you can blink, I’d say the window.”
“Good to know,” he smiled as he dramatically gestured to the window, “ladies first.”
Y/N cocked her head to the side in confusion at the expression. Perhaps Diana or Donna could’ve explained more about the world of man to her if she pushed them harder, but Sofia wasn’t too pleased for Y/N to hear more and more about the dangerous world that had experimented on her.
“Is this something from your world?”
“Huh?”
“Ladies first – is that from your world?”
“Yeah, I guess it is,” Gar nodded.
“What does it mean?”
“It’s a chivalry thing, I guess,” he shrugged.
“Chivalry?”
“Being very polite, honest. Kind behaviour,” he explained.
“Oh,” Y/N nodded in understanding, “I like chivalry then. Amazons are very chivalry.”
“Chivalrous,” Gar corrected for her.
“Amazons are very chivalrous,” Y/N repeated with the correct grammar, smiling proudly. “You should go out the window first,” she said.
“Alright, thanks, Y/N.”
“You are very welcome,” Y/N bowed her head as Gar smiled and climbed out, offering Y/N his hand to help her steadily get through the window.
“So, growing up on Themyscira must’ve been fun,” Gar began as they slowly strolled. They wanted to take their time, to savour the time they had left together before being forced to part ways when arriving at Y/N’s home. “Sword fighting, horse riding, and all this kickass stuff with badass warrior women.”
“I loved being raised here,” Y/N nodded, “From what Donna told me about the world of man, I am certainly lucky. I wouldn’t change my upbringing for anything. How about you, though? You mentioned you travelled with your parents – you must’ve seen some incredible things, things which I cannot even begin to imagine.”
“It’s been a pretty interesting life, I can’t lie,” Gar scratched the back of his head, “though after what happened to me, I didn’t really travel much. Until Rachel came along, I lived with Chief.”
“Chief?”
“He’s a doctor, like Epione,” he explained, “He gave me the injection which made me… well… you saw…”
“Must be a smart man this chief if he managed to come up with something like that.”
“He is,” Gar nodded.
“What was living with Chief like?”
“Restricted,” Gar said after some consideration. “He wanted to keep us safe, so me and the others there didn’t have much freedom outside the house. Though that didn’t stop me from sneaking out.”
“Something I understand,” Y/N teased, “we are very similar in that aspect, aren’t we?”
“Yeah, we are,” Gar nodded, “All these miles apart, yet the same experiences.”
“Goes to show, doesn’t it?” She chuckled, “growing up is a universal experience.”
“Did you ever get caught sneaking out?”
“Oh yes,” Y/N said, “I tried sneaking out to see if I could see you and Rachel, but I was caught halfway out the window.”
“Seriously?”
“Yes, Sofia was not pleased.”
“As I could tell when we actually met and she caught us.”
“She’s protective.”
“I get it,” Gar smiled and nodded, “my friend, Rita, she was very motherly to me after I arrived at Chief’s house.
“Did she have any side effects?”
“Huh?”
“I assume she was given what you was if she lives with Chief, meaning side effects, no?”
“Rita’s a different story…”
“What is hers?”
“She was an actress,” he explained, “You know those, right?” He wanted Y/N to know that she didn’t have to pretend to know things, that he was more than happy to take the time to explain things to her.
“Yes, we have plays on Themyscira.”
“Good,” Gar nodded, “well, she was working on a project, and she was exposed to a gas, a toxic gas that altered her cellular structure - which allows her to stretch her body, but also causes it to deform. She doesn’t have good control over it, not yet at least. It’s hard for her, in more ways than one.”
“I imagine it must be hard,” Y/N nodded as she spoke softly, “It must be so difficult.”
“Rita would like you,” Gar told her.
“She would?”
“Yeah, you’re smart, funny, kind, plus you’re kickass – who doesn’t like that?”
“Perhaps if you have any time we can train together – I assume you train, I heard you are part of a team called ‘The Titans’, who fight bad guys.”
“Yeah, I train, and training with an Amazon is quite the bucket list item to cross off.”
“And quite a specific one too, may I add.”
“But one I’ll be crossing off, nonetheless,” Gar teased her right back, “if Sofia is alright with it, that is. I don’t wanna upset an Amazon.”
“Oh, well, let me tell you,” Y/N chuckled, “I would find a way for us to train together if Sofia said no. In case you haven’t been paying attention, Garfield Logan, I am not one for the rules. Anyway, Sofia is always fine with me training, and perhaps she will be eager to see me defeat someone from the world of man.”
“Hey, I may not be an Amazon warrior trained from birth to fight, but I can hold my own!” Gar said. “I managed to pin you, didn’t I?”
“At the end of the day, I was the one on top, wasn’t I?”
Gar felt himself redden at her words. He could imagine the innuendo that Jason or Larry or Cliffe would make about what Y/N had just said. The one on top. God, was he really thinking something so rude about an innocent conversation.
“Well, maybe we need a re-match,” Gar coughed, “where both of us are aware, and not you sneaking up behind me.”
“I was curious about who you were.”
“And are you satisfied?”
“Very much so,” Y/N nodded firmly as they walked, her hands behind her back, “albeit I saw more of you than I thought I would.”
“Alright, changing the topic,” Gar said awkwardly, “let’s not talk about my…”
“Genitalia?”
“Look, as long as we don’t talk about it, I’m fine with it.”
“If you are embarrassed, then maybe we even it out and you look at me nude.”
“No, that’s not it, not that I don’t want to see you nude, not that I feel entitled to see you nude. God, I’m so awkward.” Gar groaned and brushed his hair from his eyes. They stopped walking and looked at each other. “I’m sure you’re lovely nude, and it would be nice to see you naked, but I don’t want to ‘even it out’, it doesn’t bother me that you’ve seen me naked and I haven’t seen you naked. It feels a little awkward because… I like you, and I don’t want to make you uncomfortable, and the thought of making you uncomfortable makes me uncomfortable. Still, I’m also a little uncomfortable because, in my world, you don’t really show someone your naked body unless you intend to be intimate with them.”
“Sex? You mean sex, correct?”
“Yes.”
“And you want to have sex with me?”
“NO! Yes, hang on a minute,” Gar said, clearly overwhelmed. “You are stunning, no doubt about it, and I’m sure sex with you would be good, incredible even,” he began after taking a deep breath. “And I do like you a lot, but sex, for me at least, is all about romance, about being in love, and that takes time. It’s a bond, for when you want to be completely one with someone when you can’t imagine life without them, and you want to be with them and only them. For me, that’s it at least. If we were in love, then yes, but we aren’t so… no. Does that make sense, or did I just ramble on?”
“It made sense,” Y/N nodded and smiled, biting her lip, “and it’s very sweet.”
“Y/N, IS THAT YOU?” Sofia called as she walked out of the door of their home. “AND THE MAN?”
“JUST SEEING HER HOME SAFELY, MISS SOFIA,” Gar called back. Sofia squinted for a moment before smiling and nodded, stepping back inside to give them the privacy to say farewell for now without an audience.
“Thank you for walking me home, Gar,” Y/N smiled.
“Thanks for letting me walk you home.”
“I enjoyed our conversations.”
“Me too.”
“Shall we pick up here tomorrow? Perhaps we speak about training together then?”
“I’d like that,” Gar smiled and chuckled, “um… can I kiss your cheek?”
“Pardon? Is that a common thing in the world of man? Is it a chivalry thing?”
“No, for both of those,” Gar said shaking his head, “basically, it’s what you do when you really, really like someone.”
“Like them, how?”
“Like them like you think they’re very pretty, and smart, and funny, and kind, and you hope that you and that person could grow to like each other more.”
“And you like me like that?”
“Yeah, do you like me like that?”
“Yes, you are very funny and kind, and pretty.”
“Thanks, that’s very flattering,” Gar chuckled, not bothering to comment that commonly men were referred to as ‘handsome’, “so, can I kiss your cheek?”
“Yes, I would like that very much.”
“Good,” Gar smiled as he leaned in and softly pressed his lips, plush and gentle, against Y/N’s cheek, stroking his thumb over her other cheek. They both remained still and savoured the moment before Gar slowly sighed and pulled back. “Night, Y/N,” he murmured as he rested his forehead against Y/N’s forehead.
“Goodnight, Gar. I look forward to seeing you again.”
“Sofia, please,” Y/N begged as Sofia prepared their dinner, “the male is harmless and I would like to know him better – this could perhaps be my only chance.”
“Why do I have the feeling that not even saying ‘no’ will matter?” Sofia sighed, turning and facing Y/N.
“Cause saying ‘no’ didn’t stop me last time,” she said with a playful smile. Sofia smiled and chuckled. “Come on… please? I will be cautious.”
“Go on, go find him then,” she said exasperatedly. Y/N squealed with joy and kissed Sofia on the cheek.
“THANK YOU!” Y/N said as she ran out the door.
“WAIT – I DIDN’T MEAN NOW!” Sofia called after her, “EAT YOUR DINNER FIRST! YOU NEED YOUR STRENGTH – YOU’RE A GROWING AMAZON WARRIOR!”
Y/N climbed over the wall. She knew exactly where the outsiders were staying. It wasn’t exactly top secret. Crouching down, she made sure that no one saw her – even though Sofia gave her blessing, that wasn’t to say all other Amazons would be on board with Y/N formally meeting the outsiders, especially the male.
Creeping through the bushes, Y/N remained hidden, finally stopping underneath a window and listening. She knew through the grapevine that this was Gar Logan’s room.
“Gar, come on,” said an unknown female voice with a laugh, “there is no way that there is an Amazon our age. They’re an ancient warrior race – they’ve been here since ancient Greece, and, well, there aren’t any men here, so there is no way she’s someone’s kid.”
“Well, this other amazon came rushing up all concerned, like a mother.”
“Did she call her ‘Mum’?”
“No…”
“See my point?”
“Rachel,” Gar sighed.
“I’ve gone to so many meetings, and none of these Amazons look even close to our age,” Rachel explained.
“That doesn’t mean you’ve met every single Amazon.”
“True, but I’ve met more than you!”
“Brag!”
“I’m going to bed, it’s late,” Rachel chuckled, “see you in the morning, Gar!”
“Night, Rach.”
Y/N listened as she heard Rachel leave and door behind her. Gar shuffled around the room for a few moments before it went silent. Getting up, Y/N leaned against the windowsill and peered her head through the window. Gar was in his pyjamas.
“Hello,” Y/N said causing Gar to yelp and nearly fall over as he turned to see Y/N at his window. She grinned and laughed at his stunned expression.
“We’ve got to come up with another kind of greeting,” Gar chuckled awkwardly as he scratched the back of his head, “cause, you sneaking up on me all the time is going to give me a heart one day.”
“Well, invite me in, and we’ll talk about it,” she teased.
“You wanna come in, Y/N?”
“Yes, thank you,” Y/N said as Gar stepped back to let her completely, “how nice of you to invite me in!” She joked.
“Can’t have you freezing outside – think your mother might kill me for it!”
“My mother?” Y/N frowned.
“That woman, Sofia?”
“Sofia is my mother figure, but she didn’t birth me,” Y/N explained as she wandered around the room, looking at the few select personal items Gar had brought with him to Themyscira. “I was brought, and Sofia was chosen to raise me, teach me to be an Amazon, care for me. She loves me like a mother does, and I love her like a daughter does.”
“You were brought here?”
“Yes,” Y/N nodded as she stopped looking around and turned to face Gar, “from your world, the world of man.”
“I’ve got a lot of questions.”
“I suspect so.”
“How old were you when you came here?” Gar asked as he sat on the bed and watched Y/N.
“I was a babe,” Y/N said as she sat next to Gar, “only a few months old, I believe. I only know I am from your world because I have been told so. I am an Amazon, but not like the others on Themyscira. Unlike them, I shall age like a human, I shall die like a human, even though I have the strength and abilities of an Amazon.”
“How is that possible?”
“According to what I know… I was an experiment – the government’s attempt to make a form of ‘super soldier’. The one you call Wonder Woman, along with Donna, discovered me after halting the experiment, they read the files on me and knew that I was the only one, so rather than leave me, they choose to bring me here.”
“Oh my god,” Gar said, his face becoming one of the horror of the fact that someone, the government of all people, choose to experiment on anyone, especially a baby, and sympathy for Y/N that this had happened to her. “That’s… I… Y/N… God, I’m just so sorry that happened to you.”
“No changing the past…” Y/N sighed with a shrug.
“So, I guess this means you have no memories of my world… our world…”
Our world. Our world. Y/N smiled fondly at the phrasing. It felt nice to hear. It was nice to think that she and Gar were from the same world, even though she adored Themyscira and her fellow Amazons. Every passing birthday, every passing day, every time she grew an inch, anything that indicated she was ageing, it reminded her that when she was an elderly woman, Sofia would still be herself, as would other Amazons. It was a horrible, daunting thought to be confronted with. Our world. Y/N liked it because she knew, for once, she wasn’t alone in her fate. She felt Gar gingerly place his hand over her own.
“No,” she said softly, “I don’t have any memories of… our world… can you tell me about it?”
“Um, sure,” Gar nodded. “What’d you wanna know about it?”
“I don’t know,” Y/N frowned, “what is it like?”
A simple question with a long, complicated answer. There was so much about it that Gar wanted to tell Y/N, but where to begin? Should he explain about Starbucks? School? What about other countries? Did he start with America? Should he tell her about Christmas? Halloween? Valentine’s Day? He didn’t even know where to start. The words ran around and around in his brain, but he didn’t have anything to say. His mouth opened, and nothing came out. He was still holding her hand as he turned and faced Y/N.
“It’s… home” was all Gar could come up with. Home, where he played his video games and ate sweets. Home, where Dick and Jason and Kory and Connor was, where Rita and Larry and Cliff were. Home. Where he travelled and lived with his parents, his parents. Home, where his friends were, and his memories and his photos of his family and his whole life had been. There was no other way to define it, to think of it. It was home filled with all the things he loved and missed. Home.
“Home…” Y/N repeated. “Home…”
The word weighed heavy as she spoke it. Home. How Gar spoke the word hit Y/N in the chest. Home. She smiled as she thought of it, that sense of belonging. Was this home for Y/N? Themyscira was a wonderful paradise, no doubt about that, a brilliant place to live and grow up, Y/N knew that, but she always had a heavy heart whenever her birthday came around. No matter how much she loved Sofia and her fellow Amazon’s, she was always acutely aware that she was always an outsider, much like Gar and that Rachel girl. She would grow old and die.
“Are you alright?” Gar asked, snapping Y/N from her thoughts.
“Yes, sorry, I was just thinking about our world,” Y/N coughed and turned her body to face Gar. “Can I ask you something?”
“Course,” Gar nodded.
“How’d you do that thing with your eyes?” She asked, “They were green, glowing. Not like your eyes now.”
“It’s… complicated,” Gar chuckled, licking his lips and shifting as he sat.
“Was it something you were born with?”
“No… no,” Gar shook his head, “I was given it… kinda like how you were…”
“What happened?”
“I was dying,” Gar explained uncomfortably, “I was given an injection to try and cure me… unforeseen side effect…”
“You don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to.”
“It’s okay,” he smiled and patted her hand.
“May I ask if your eyes are the only side effect?”
“It’s part of it.”
“What’s the rest of it?” She asked curiously. Gar smiled and stood up, putting his hands in his pockets and gesturing with his head for Y/N to stand. She did and eyed him strangely as he turned her to face away from him, and she heard him moving to the other side of the room.
“Don’t turn around just yet,” he said as she listened to him shuffling around. “And promise me you won’t freak out.”
“Okay…” She coughed, “should I be concerned?”
“No,” he chuckled a little.
Everything went silent for a moment, and Y/N stood very, very still. What was happening?
“Are you alright, Gar?” Y/N asked in a small voice. Hearing nothing, she gave in to the temptation and turned around. On the bed was a neatly folded pile of the clothes that Gar had been wearing, but the main thing which held Y/N’s attention was the large, green Tiger prowling around the floor. Y/N yelped before calming herself down and thinking. She stepped forward and the Tiger leaned closer to her fondly. Y/N knew those eyes, she had seen them on the beach. “Gar?” She asked curiously.
The Tiger purred and nudged his head against Y/N, causing her to laugh and stroke his head softly.
“Incredible!” Y/N said as Gar walk around her, letting her study him. She put her hand out and ran it from the top of his head to the tip of his tail before scratching behind his ears, resulting in Gar whirring contently under Y/N’s touch. “Absolutely remarkable!”
Gar plodded away and walked behind a chair, appearing out the other side human once more, but completely nude. Y/N was taken by surprise and averted her eyes to the ceiling as Gar realised what had happened and covered his modesty.
“Sorry!” Gar blushed as he rushed over and grabbed his clothes.
“It’s fine,” she said, “and you don’t have to be embarrassed – nothing for me to compare it to, remember? You’re the only male on the island.”
“Shut up!” Gar said even more embarrassed as he buckled his belt and pulled his top back on, “you can look now.”
Y/N looked at Gar, unable to contain herself and started giggling, covering her mouth with her hands.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” she giggled, “I’m not laughing at you, or your… well… you know…” she assured him, “It’s just out of all the people to be embarrassed by over this situation, I am on the bottom of that list.”
“Please don’t make this any more embarrassing!”
“Hey, Gar, did I leave my notebook in here?” said Rachel as she came into the bedroom, suddenly confronted with Y/N standing there, trying to suppress her laugh and wave at Rachel, who awkwardly waved back and looked at Gar in confusion.
“Rach, meet Y/N.”
“Oh, you’re real?” Rachel said without thinking.
“Pardon?”
“Well, I honestly thought Gar made you up.”
“Hey!” Gar groaned as he sat down.
“Well, I am real,” Y/N chuckled as she looked at Gar, who was somehow even redder than before.
“That you are,” Rachel nodded as she looked at Gar, utterly shocked.
‘Again,’ Y/N said as Gar stumbled and fell onto the ground. The young warrior certainly wasn’t over-exaggerating the tiring work training was. He was panting heavily and gasping for air as he got to his feet and rested his hands on his knees, lifting his head and staring at Y/N. Not a single hair on her was out of place, she hadn’t even broken a sweat, while Gar looked like he’d been dragged through a forest backwards.
‘Can I have a breather?’ He pled, ‘Because I feel like I’m gonna faint.’
‘Fine,’ Y/N nodded. After all, his training session would be no good if the trainee collapsed. Gar laid down on a rock, covering his eyes with his arm to shield them from the sun. He focused on his breathing, turning his heavy and wild pants into a monitored breath, cooling him down and letting his lung welcome air again.
‘How’d you do this every day for hours on end?’
‘Well, when you’ve done this every day since you can hold a sword, you build endurance.’
‘How long did that take?’
‘Few years, perhaps.’
‘Ugh!’ Gar jokingly groaned as he lifted his head to look at Y/N. Y/N was standing to the side holding the hilt of her sword, stabbing the point into the sand, smiling fondly at him. The sun behind her made her shadow grow and grow with each shift, creating a towering, robust stature on the sand. A Warrior she indeed was. Gar couldn’t help but admire her.
‘You’ll be fine,’ Y/N assured him, ‘After all, I imagine it must take an awful lot of energy to shift into a tiger.’
‘Turning into a tiger and having your ass kicked by an Amazon is not the same thing!’
‘Don’t be such a dramatic man!’ Y/N mocked.
‘Hey!’
‘Well, are you not being dramatic?’ She said gesturing to how he had draped himself over the rocks, almost putting the back of his hand on his forehead. Gar hadn’t realised how melodramatic his pose had looked, causing him to blush, feeling slightly embarrassed. Y/N grinned broadly and laughed.
‘Alright, alright,’ Gar huffed as he got to his feet, brushing imaginary sand off of himself. ‘I see your point.’
‘Don’t worry, we Amazons are aware of how melodramatic men can be,’ she said in a comforting tone, ‘shall we continue?’
‘Yeah,’ Gar nodded furiously, eager to change the subject, grabbing his sword and moving into the stance Y/N had taught him. He shifted to the left when Y/N launched herself towards him, her sword in hand and ready to attack. As her sword came to hit him in the calf, Gar managed to block her, causing Y/N to smile faintly with pride as she saw her training methods take effect. Sofia would be proud of her! They carried on sparing until Y/N managed to knock Gar’s feet out from under him and climb atop of him to keep him in place. Her strength didn’t surprise Gar, after all, she was an Amazon, although he did try to roll her onto her back, but couldn’t. He looked at her face to see the ‘cat-got-the-cream’ grin she didn’t even bother to hide.
‘I believe that brings our score to 4 for me, and 0 for you, yes?’ She teased, letting his hands go but still sitting on his middle.
‘Modest much?’
‘Sore loser much?’ She still grinned, leaning into his face. Gar couldn’t help but feel his heartbeat harder. Da-dum, da-dum, da-dum. It wasn’t from the training. Y/N looked positively ethereal in the sun, it was so tantalising. All he wanted to do was lean up and kiss her, feel her lips against his. Gar looked at her lips for a second, hoping she didn’t catch him longing. She did, grinning wider if that were even possible. This cat had got the cream and wasn’t shy of hiding it!
‘So, um,’ Gar said, voice cracking as Y/N’s eyes bore into his, twinkling mischievous. ‘Have I improved, though? Cause, well, I feel like that one lasted longer than the one before. Like, I’m certainly getting better, right? I managed to dodge you quicker, yeah, I was definitely quicker. I mean, I couldn’t get any worse, right?’
‘Gar?’
‘Yes?’
‘Shut up,’ she murmured as she closed the distance between them and kissed him softly, moving her hands onto either side of his face while Gar’s hands nervously moved to her back. He knew if he placed his hands anywhere she didn’t want, he’d lose his hands. Y/N smiled into the kiss as Gar slowly moved one hand up her back and to her cheek, stroking it softly. Such a sweet, tender man was Garfield Logan, and Y/N adored that about him. She shifted a little to allow Gar to sit up with Y/N on his lap as they didn’t break, even for air.
When they did pull apart, Gar brushed the hair from Y/N’s face, gazing affectionately into her Y/E/C eyes. He smiled at her and rested his forehead on hers, kissing the end of her nose, causing her to laugh and stroke his cheek with her thumb.
‘So…’ Gar sighed breathlessly.
‘So…’ Y/N repeated.
‘Is this part of typical Amazon training?’
‘No,’ she shook her head, ‘no, this is not. But I am willing to make an exception for you, if you want, that is?’
‘Yes,’ Gar nodded as he moved his hands up and down her sides affectionately, ‘I think this would certainly motivate me to improve.’
‘Well then,’ Y/N chuckled, ‘I am willing to do a lot to make sure my trainee improves!’
‘Maybe, if you want, we can do that again, just to make sure it has a positive effect on me? You know, research?’
‘I am more than happy to,’ Y/N nodded before kissing Gar again, letting him roll her onto her back as her hands ran through his green hair.
Gar wandered back to his room with a gigantic grin on his face. A bird could shit in his face, and he’d still be walking on air, and this was not ignored by the Amazons he passed on his walk back. He had walked Y/N home and gave her a sweet peck on the cheek before heading to his lodgings, where Rachel sat reading some books that Amazons had given her as gifts. She looked at Gar and his gazed over eyes, clearly somewhere else, a joyous place – hence that stupid grin!
‘What’s got you so happy?’
‘I was with Y/N,’ he sighed as he fell onto his bed as Rachel moved over to join him. ‘It was incredible!’
Rachel cocked her eyebrow, and as she studied him carefully. Big stupid grin, twinkling eyes, floating on air, practically radiating pure glee. Come on, even a blind man could deduce what happened between Gar and Y/N?
‘And how was the kiss?’
‘Fireworks,’ He grinned before stopping and bolting upright to stare at Rachel, ‘how’d you know?’
‘That stupid grin, dumbass!’ Rachel said, ‘you might as well have ‘just made-out’ on your forehead!’ She watched as Gar tried to hide his smile. ‘Hey, I ain’t judging and I sure as hell ain’t gonna rat you out to Sofia for making out with her precious Y/N.’
‘I think I’m falling in love with her,’ he confessed quietly, but Rachel heard him, ‘I can’t stop thinking about her and all I wanna do is be with her.’
‘Well, you’ve got yourself in a pickle here, haven’t you?’
“Holy Crap,” Rachel leapt in front of Gar the moment he arrived back home. Her eyes were bulging out of her head and her mouth hung open. He automatically knew what Rachel was speaking about, Y/N.
“Told you she was real.”
“She’s so badass!” Rachel declared as she started walking with Gar following her, “and super into you,” she looked over her shoulder to register Gar’s reaction. Gar’s cheeks flushed a bright red as Rachel spoke. He lowered his head to hide his reaction behind his green fringe. Regardless of how hard he tried to hide his red cheeks and bitten back gleeful grin at the thought of Y/N liking him, Rachel saw his joy. “Pretty too, isn’t she?”
“I- I- I- hadn’t noticed,” Gar stuttered, trying to lie.
“You can’t lie to me, remember?” Rachel chuckled and grinned.
“Okay, fine,” Gar sighed, “She’s stunning! She’s incredible! I haven’t been able to stop thinking about her since I met her.”
“What you gonna do about it?” Rachel asked as she stopped walking, leaning against a wall to look at Gar. Gar pushed his hair from his face and leaned on the wall opposite Rachel.
“I don’t know,” he muttered, “first, we’re not on Themyscira forever, we’ll be leaving eventually, even if it isn’t soon, second, I wouldn’t blame Sofia for not wanting her to be in a relationship with someone from the world of man, considering that they experimented on Y/N as a baby.”
“At the end of the day, Gar, its Y/N’s choice, not Sofia’s,” Rachel pointed out, “as for leaving Themyscira?” She sighed, “I don’t know, but maybe for the time being that shouldn’t be in our minds. I think we’ll be here for some time yet. Cross that bridge when you come to it, Gar.”
Y/N tried not to let the fact that Gar was watching her train with other Amazons distract her. He was sitting to the side on the stone stools, observing curiously. No one off of Themyscira had witnessed the training sessions of the Amazons before. Out of all the trained and brilliant warriors he could watch, Gar chose to watch Y/N instead. His eyes hadn’t left Y/N at all.
“Don’t tell me you’re blushing because the man is watching,” Sofia teased as Y/N dodged her attack.
“Huh? What? No. Course not!” Y/N rambled, “Why on earth would I blush over that?”
Taking advantage of Y/N’s distracted mind, Sofia knocked Y/N to the ground. As Y/N leapt to her feet, she looked over to Gar, who gave her a concerned look. In response, Y/N smiled and gave a thumbs up to assure him she was fine before turning back to Sofia to hide her reddening face. God! How embarrassing!
“It’s fine to have feelings for a person, Y/N/N,” Sofia assured her, “nothing to be ashamed about.”
“I’m not used to this…” she confessed, “feelings like this… Is he still looking at me?”
“Yes,” Sofia chuckled.
“Oh Zeus, I feel embarrassed.”
“Nothing to be embarrassed about, my darling,” Sofia brushed the hair from Y/N’s eyes. “He’s merely concerned about your safety. Even Amazons can be injured.”
“Hey,” Gar said as he approached Y/N and Sofia, “you okay? Looked like a hard fall,” he looked at Y/N, hands in his pockets, as though he felt with Sofia present he had to keep at a certain distance.
“Nothing I can’t handle,” Y/N assured him, “I’ve fallen a lot harder from a lot higher.”
“Good, well, not good that you’ve fallen worse before, but good that you aren’t injured. Were you injured from the other falls? Because I hope you weren’t. Being injured is never nice, is it?”
“No, no it isn’t,” Y/N nodded in agreement.
“Take a break,” Sofia chuckled as she strolled off, “chat with the man for a while.”
“How have you been finding Themyscira?” Y/N asked Gar as Sofia disappeared.
“Yeah, yeah, it’s good, I like it here,” he nodded, “watching the training is super cool. Never seen anything like it. How’d you do that flip thing earlier?”
“Oh, I can show you later if you want, after Sofia has finished training me for the day.”
“I’d like that,” Gar smiled.
“Perhaps there is something from the world of man that you can teach me,” Y/N asked excitedly, “we can teach each other.”
“That sounds nice,” Gar said, “but I don’t know what I would be able to teach an Amazon Warrior.”
“Well, I’m sure you will think of something,” Y/N said, “it doesn’t have to be fighting.”
“I’ll get to thinking about it then,” he chuckled.
“I look forward to learning from you, Gar.”
“And I’m totally excited to learn some kickass Amazon fighting from you, Y/N.”
“Tomorrow, meet me on the shore and I’ll show you how to fight like an Amazon, like we talked about yesternight.”
“Back to training now, Y/N, my darling,” Sofia called as she walked back over.
“Do you still want to watch?” Y/N asked Gar with big eyes.
“If you’re okay with that, yeah?”
“I would be more than okay with that.”
“Okay,” Gar grinned broadly as started walking back to his seat, biting his lip with his hands in his pockets. Y/N blushed as she watched him return to his spot. Sofia chuckled and playfully prodded Y/N.
“Back to training, little one,” Sofia said, “no more gawking after your man.”
Gar walked on the sand with a bounce in his step as he searched for Y/N. According to the young Amazon, all that Gar needed to bring was himself and his inner strength, as Amazon fighting wasn’t for the hesitant. Y/N said she was going to teach him like an Amazon, and teach him like an Amazon she will. When he finally found her, Y/N was practising steps herself, certain moves for dodging and defending. He didn’t tell her he was there straight away, no, he merely watched her as she weaved in and out of the imagined attacks, ducking, twisting, and lunging. Watching her movements was like watching a ballet – elegant, poised, but still strong and filled with immense power. Magnificent.
He sucked in as he watched her leap onto one of the rocks, feet barely grazing the stone before she pushed herself off and outstretched her legs, pointing her toes as she flipped herself backwards, turning upside down mid-air before putting herself right way up to land with incredible grace and power. Her feet hit the ground with an authoritative thud, sword still in grasp. The flip that Gar so badly wanted to learn. He had seen it before, but it still took his breath away.
“Whoa!” He said, unable to hold his reaction in.
Y/N turned to see Gar standing behind her. Momentarily stunned and a visibly giddy, Y/N quickly controlled her expression to a cool and collected smile.
“Hello there, Gar.”
“Hey,” he grinned, “that flip is so awesome!”
“Thank you very much,” she chuckled as she stabbed her sword into the sand to keep it lodged in place. This is when Gar noticed that there was a second sword there waiting. Did she really also want to teach him the way of the sword? He couldn’t believe his luck.
“Um, is Sofia alright with this?”
“More than fine with it,” Y/N assured him, “surprisingly, regardless of her thoughts and feelings of the world of man, Sofia is quite fond of you.”
“Really?” Gar asked in disbelief.
“Yes,” she nodded, “I think you are different from many of the other men we’ve heard about. Men, from what I’ve been told, seem to have an insatiable bloodlust and a hatred of women.”
“Yeah… we haven’t been the best, have we?” He chuckled awkwardly as he scratched the back of his head. “I promise you, Y/N, I hate blood, makes me nauseous,” Gar pulled a face as he thought about what he had done. It did make him sick, just the mere thought of the blood he had drawn made him want to hunch over and empty his guts, “as for women? Dude, women are awesome. Totally better than men. You should meet my friend Kory, or Dawn, you’d love them. I mean, you obviously knew Donna… Anyway, Kory’s got this awesome firepower, like the sun. Dawn is an amazing fighter. She’d love this.”
“If any of the Amazon’s thought you were anything like the men we’ve heard about, you wouldn’t have been allowed on Themyscira,” Y/N assured him with a snicker, “but hearing how much you respect my kind is nice. If I ever get the chance to meet your friends, I would certainly like too.”
“Maybe we’d be able to convince Sofia to let you visit us in my world.”
“Not very likely.”
“But still got some likeliness,” he flashed her a boyish grin, “and mums love me, I’d be able to convince her.”
“Perhaps this is why Sofia was wary about men,” Y/N teased, “how charming and tempting you are!”
“Um, I, well, me?” Y/N’s playful flirt caught Gar off guard, He went red in the face, burning with awkwardness at the thought of Y/N finding him charming and tempting. Him of all people being tempting? Being charming? Being the reason a mother would warn her daughter about men because of their enticement?
“Come on, Eros,” she chuckled with a teasing tone, “shall we begin?”
