for the ask game: Millisievert, Kohlrabi, and Tjurig! (is that last one swedish????)
oooomg i apparently queued the reblog instead of drafting it so it posted while i was asleep fadsfds
but here i am now!
Millisievert! When I got her, she made me think of like, glowing radiation i was still new and not familiar with the colorwheel so i didn’t realize there was actually a color named radioactive hahaha so I looked up words related to that, and found (milli)sievert, which is a unit of measurement for doses of radiation. I went with Millisievert instead of just Sievert cuz I thought it sounded fancier which fit her personality more, plus I could call her Millie c:
Kohlrabi! I can’t remember perfectly, but I think I was looking at Brassica as a name, since I often look at plant genuses for name inspiration. And I thought in particular Brassica oleracea was fun since like, it’s just one plant species yet it can take the form of many different vegetables including cabbage, broccoli, and brussels sprouts! Who would have guessed those were all the same plant haha..It’s like the plant version of dogs omg. Anyway, one of the vegetables it is is the german turnip, called kohlrabi! I’ve never actually had it before or even had heard of it before trying to name this dragon but maybe some day I will get to try it...
And yes, Tjurig is indeed Swedish!
So, on dragon share someone posted this gen one they hatched but were disappointed in but wanted people to try scrying. I made an okay attempt, but someone else thought to try Skink/Noxtide for the dragon and i was like..whoa. that’s good. that would be fun in my swamp tab... the person decided they didn’t want to the dragon, so I offered to buy them and they accepted! And then we both made cr’s for the trade. Then we both cancelled the CR’s when we realized the other one had made one. Then we both made a CR again. It was. a disaster dsfdsa we joked that the dragon was obviously stubborn about leaving haha. but finally we did get in sync and the gen one arrived in my lair! And naturally, them being stubborn was already set in stone haha. So I decided to think of words that would be relevant, and Bull was one that I thought worked really ell for them! I didn’t want to just name them Bull though, so I looked it up in different languages and found the Swedish word Tjur, and then found the related adjective ‘Tjurig’ which would essentially be ‘bullish’ (though not quite the same connotations as English has) and thought that was perfect :D
also I really like trying to give most of my dragons distinct names, and I definitely didn’t have any dragons whose names had begun with a ‘Tj’ yet haha. i admittedly can’t actually pronounce that right at all dsfsdaf the best i can do is “Churig” which from youtube videos I’ve watched seems decently close dsafsd
thank you!!
