something about john, a māori man, trapping the earths body in a white, blonde woman based off a barbie doll, a symbol of white feminity. something about this barbies soul ending up in a black/brown girls body, and being surrounded by people who loved her more wholesomely than john ever did. something about john supressing his culture through in empire for tens of thousands of years, naming his lyctors after classical figures and pursuing the same colonial policies that forever harmed his people. something about how john can never truly escape from where he came from.

2025 sounds like the perfect year for the release of a fourth and final book in a sci-fi fantasy tetralogy with lesbian necromancers in space and a beautiful, strong, and angry barbie titular character

I know Annabel Lee is mentioned explicitly in text and is even the name Jod gives Alecto but I can’t help but also think of “Porphyria’s Lover” by Robert Browning wherein the narrator confesses to strangling his lover with her own long blonde hair to preserve her love for him. At one point he even tells himself “no pain felt she; I am quite sure she felt no pain.” Then he props her body up and sits with her all night, ending the poem with the line is “And yet God has not said a word!”

MAN I JUST... I've said a bit offhand before but I hope Alecto is every bit as dumb as Nona, or ideally even dumber. In DnD terms I hope she has a Wisdom stat of 200 (two hundred) and an Intelligence stat of 3. I hope Gideon is so deeply validated in thinking of her as an ice lolly bimbo.

Like I hope she's perfect and powerful and incredibly competent at every task she can intuit and that covers a massive range of things but also aside from nature stuff she knows jack shit about fuck purely because she cannot be assed to learn. Humans complicate things too much and it's so boring. She's glad they're having fun for the most part but couldn't be her. And sometimes, anyway, here's the dead obvious answer you all overlooked while you were overthinking. That vibe. I want her to be every bit as beloved as Nona and a very active agent in the plot but just also be so so stupid.

And I just realized a few minutes ago what I've basically been wanting this whole time is.

I want. I want her to be. Dumb as a rock. I want— she's a... I'm. God I need this more than ever now, pleeeeaaaase.

I’ve simply gone mad re: Alecto/Annabel Lee bc how many prisons did John feel he needed to trap her in??? First he builds a human shaped prison, then his Houses to trap her story, then the actual tomb which is her ice coffin inside of a prison by the sea as in the poem, inside of a death cult on the most remote planet in the system. My guy just admit defeat! You were never going to be able to hold her down forever!

Griddlehark's love life is such a mess....

Gideon is in love with Harrow who is also in love with her and Alecto who was a chilly body in the coffin, Alecto is John's ex who is Gideon's father and Alecto was probably Gideon's first kiss in Harrow's body.John is also fucking Saperdon right now and was essentially talking to Harrow as if she was Alecto the whole time in Nona, Harrow,who he used to see as a daughter.

Also Ianthe is in there for some reason.
