How long do you think they were planning to send Casey back to the past?
Mikey had that spell perfected.
They had this plan long before they used it. The others before they were killed likely knew of this plan too.
So how long do you think they planned to send the youngest Hamato, their last bit of legacy, their child, their only child, to the past where he would be safe?
Because it was never doubted for a second that Casey would save the world.

Leo's Nightmare (A Mutant Apocalypse Fanfic)
WARNING: The following fanfic contains violent and bloody parts, in addition to addressing serious topics such as trauma and panic attack.
In some part of the Wasteland, there were pools of blood on the sand, bodies of dead mutants with deep wounds and dismembered limbs. Arms, legs, and even heads were everywhere.
Then, black boots appeared, walking among the pools of blood and corpses. A giant, muscular, green figure with a black helmet covering its face, except for its glowing green eyes, it looked like a Monster. He walked until he reached four figures stretched out in front of him, they appeared to be three mutant turtles, one of them a robot, and a mutant meerkat. The group was in a state of mixed emotions with the monstrous figure before them, seemingly feeling shock, anger, worry, and even sadness.
"You fools!" The Monster shouted. "Do you really think you'll defeat the Lord of the Wasteland? Do you really think you'll defeat me!?"
"We won't let you hurt anyone else!" The meerkat shouted in fury. She charged at the Monster with her electric whip, but the Monster stopped her attack by grabbing her left arm, which bore a tattoo of a map. The meerkat was surprised by the defense.
"You have something that belongs to me." Said the Monster, without hesitation, he began to pull the meerkat's arm, tearing it off. The meerkat screamed in pain, blood flowing, finally ripped off her arm completely. The meerkat wasn't awake, she couldn't bear the pain, she had lost too much blood. The meerkat... was dead. The Monster threw the meerkat's body away as if she were nothing more than trash.
He continued on, approaching the three turtles. One of them, with long hair and an orange headband tied around his head, quickly approached, looking shocked and sad.
"Brother, no!" the orange turtle cried. "Please, don't do this, that's not yo-" The Monster cut him off, grabbing him by the neck, suffocating him, nothing coming out of his mouth but pure suffocation.
"I'm not your brother, you pest!" The Monster shouted as he tightened his grip on the old turtle's neck. He squeezed tighter and tighter, until... His head exploded, spurting blood everywhere, just as he had done with the meerkat's corpse, he threw the headless body.
The Monster approached the two turtles, until one of them, the robot, stood in front of him, aiming his iron staff at the monster.
"Leo, please, don't make me do this." The robot turtle warned, with his robotic voice trembling. "Try to remember, you're not like that!" But the Monster grabbed the robot turtle from head to toe.
"That's not my name, metal junk!" The Monster shouted. "And I don't have to remember anything!" He pulled the turtle from above and lowered it, until its body was split in half. He threw the broken body, the robot's eyes, which had previously glowed purple, were now off.
Finally, the last turtle remained in front of him, an old turtle with a red mask and a black suit staring at him in pure shock and sadness.
"Leo... brother." the red turtle spoke in a trembling, almost tearful voice. The Monster grabbed the red turtle by the neck and lifted him.
"Please..." the red turtle begged. "You have to remember, we are your family... your brothers... that... t-that's not you."
"I have no family. I have no brothers. That's not my name." The Monster spoke as he raised his fist, which suddenly had two bladed claws on it. "And that is who I am. I am Maximus Kong, Lord of the Wasteland!" Maximus Kong stabbed his claws into the turtle's torso, blood pouring from the turtle's mouth, until he finally lost his life. Maximus drops the body to the ground.
Maximus Kong stood surrounded by pools of blood, bodies of the innocents, and the bodies of those who claimed to be his "family." He began to chuckle evilly, his laughter growing louder until he finally burst out laughing madly and evilly. Suddenly, his laughter mixed with a scream in the background, a scream of remorse. The laughter and screams continued until another sound emerged in the background, a voice calling out, It was hard to hear over the laughter and screams, but little by little, the voice grew louder, and could hear a few words repeating, "Leo!" and "Wake up!" The words echoed in the laughter and screams, growing louder and louder, until...
"LEO, WAKE UP!"
Leo woke up with a scream and a gasp. He began breathing rapidly, he was hyperventilating, his vision was blurry, he heard muffled voices but couldn't hear them clearly, he could only hear his heart racing and a buzzing sound, he only hear a female voice saying "What's wrong with him?" and another voice responding "He's having a panic attack!". Leo continued hyperventilating and sweating as the voices continued, they seemed to be trying to calm him down, he couldn't see who the voices belonged to, his vision was blurred by the panic attack, but little by little, he could hear what the voices were saying, they were calm, concerned, and familiar.
"Breathe, bro, breathe." said one of the familiar voices.
"Calm down, Leo, It's okay, take a deep breath." said another familiar voice.
"We're here, brother, everything's okay." said another familiar voice.
Leo began to calm down a bit with the soft and familiar voices and began to do what they asked. He closed his eyes and began to breathe, Little by little, his hyperventilation began to subside, as did his heartbeat and buzzing.
Finally, Leo took a calm breath and sigh. He opened his eyes and finally saw who was in front of him, which surprised him. It was his family, his brothers, and his little meerkat friend. They were there, alive, no blood, no body parts torn off. They were all there, alive and well, with shocked and worried looks on their faces.
"Guys... you..." Leo then realized it was still nighttime, he was sitting against a tree, that's when Leo remembered he was asleep, which meant everything he did, that whole massacre, wasn't real, it was a nightmare. Thank goodness.
"It's okay, brother." Mikey calmed him. "It was just a nightmare. You're okay."
"Man, you had us worried." Donnie explained. "You were screaming in your sleep."
"We were sleeping when we heard your screams." Raph explained. "We woke up to see what was happening.
"We were trying to wake you, but you kept screaming and writhing." Mira explained.
So those screams of remorse, that mixed with the evil laughter in his nightmare, were Leo's screams.
"I'm... I'm sorry, guys." Leo apologized. "I didn't mean to wake you." He also didn't mean to do what he did to them in his nightmare, he didn't want to, but he did it anyway.
Mikey rested his hand on his brother's muscular arm. "It's okay, Leo." He soothed him. "Do you want to talk about it?"
Leo stared at his little brother. He immediately remembered what he had done to him in his nightmare, he had choked him and blown his head off. That scared Leo. He quickly pulled his arm away from Mikey, afraid he might somehow do the same thing to his little brother in his nightmare.
"N-No!" Leo let a fearful sound escape his mouth, not wanting to show fear, he answered the question again a little calmly. "No. I-I don't want to."
"Leo." Donnie called after him. "This is the fifth nightmare you've had this week since we found the Oasis. And this seems to have been the worst, considering how hysterical you were."
Donnie was right. Ever since they found the Oasis, Leo hadn't stopped having nightmares every night, and this was indeed one of the worst. Leo's previous nightmares were of Maximus Kong hurting innocents, enslaving them, destroying places, and each nightmare seemed to get worse, he tortured and killed innocents in the following ones, but none of them were more violent and bloody than his last nightmare, especially since this time, his family was in it, and he killed them in cold blood and brutally. Of all the nightmares Leo had, this was the worst.
"Are you sure you don't want to talk about it?" Mikey asked. "We might help you." He tried to put his hand on his big brother again, but Leo pulled his arm away from Mikey again.
"N-no, it's okay, I'm fine now." Leo lied, he wasn't fine. "I'll be fine, I just..." Leo got up from the tree he was lying in. "I just need a better place to sleep."
He walked away from the group, finding a better place to sleep, far away, in case he had another nightmare and screamed, his family wouldn't hear and he wouldn't wake them.
The group looked at Leo worriedly as he walked away, then they looked at each other and started talking.
"It's obvious he's not okay." Raph said firmly.
"Yeah." Donnie agreed. "Leo's been acting like this since the second day we got here, and he never told us about his nightmares."
"Have you guys noticed he's been avoiding us too?" Mikey asked. "Always avoiding and moving away from us, like he's afraid of us."
"Or... maybe" Donnie thought. "Of what he might do to us."
"What do you mean?" Mira asked.
"Leo didn't seem afraid" Donnie explained. "I mean, he seemed, but he also seemed worried. Worried about us and afraid we'd get hurt."
"Hurt?" Mikey asked "I mean, I know Leo is big and strong now, but I know he wouldn't hurt us, not on purpose."
"And why would he think he'd hurt us?" Raph asked.
"Maybe because..." Donnie explained. "He's done it before, when he was..."
Donnie didn't finish, but the group could understand what he was going to say, and they were perplexed.
Raph remembered when they found Leo, but he wasn't himself, he was hurting Raph and trying to kill him. Mikey remembered when they found Leo, he was buried under the wreckage of a truck, he seemed aggressive, as if he wanted to hurt anyone who dared to get close to him. Mira also remembered, not only the day they found him, but everything he had done. Leo had destroyed her home, killed her family, and tried to take her map by force, she had harbored fear and anger toward him for a long time, until the group found him, but he was no longer that evil and aggressive person, when Mira heard his story, she finally understood, although she still hadn't completely forgiven him, she gave him a chance to get to know him better, to get to know the real him. She no longer saw him as Maximus Kong, but as Leonardo. Everyone saw him as Leonardo and forgave him, but it seems he didn't.
"Does he still blame himself for what he did to us?" Raph asked.
"But dudes, again, it wasn't his fault." Mikey explained. "The Mutagen Bomb messed with his head and made him do things against his will."
"We all know, Mikey." Donnie replied. "Look, I'm no psychologist or therapist, but it seems Leo is going through some trauma. PTSD, I believe."
"PT what?" Raph asked.
"PTSD, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder." Donnie explained. "And Leo has been showing some symptoms of it, one of them being avoiding others, which he just did."
It was clear now, Leo was suffering from trauma, from the horrible things he'd done, the places he'd destroyed, the people he'd hurt and killed, from when he was... Maximus Kong.
"Maybe we should try talking to him." Mikey appeared, worried about his big brother.
"Not now, Mikey." Raph said, also a little worried. "Today was too much for him. Maybe tomorrow."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Somewhere in the forest, Leo was pacing, thinking. He couldn't sleep after that nightmare, he looked stressed.
"Why? Why?!" Leo asked himself angrily. "Why does this keep happening!? Why won't these nightmares stop!? Why do I..." He couldn't finish his question, he looked at his trembling hand, then clenched it in anger. "WHY?!" He punched a nearby tree, leaving a large dent in it, nearly knocking it over.
Leo took a deep breath, trying to calm his anger. He began to remember his nightmare, the moment his family stood before him, he remembered how he killed them, each killing he remembered he felt a strong anguish in his chest and a regret, but what caught his attention was how he had killed Raph, with those bladed claws.
"Those claws..." Leo said. " Why did they looked... familiar?"
Leo searched his mind, trying to remember where he had seen those claws before. Then he remembered a figure who wielded that claw, not just one, but two in each fist. He was tall, not as tall as Leo now, but back when he was a teenager and hadn't undergone a double mutation, he was taller than him. The figure also wore a purple cape and a silver helmet that covering its face except for his eyes, which had one blind eye.
Leo gasped. "No... it can't be." Leo remembered now, he knew who those claws belonged to. "I'm not... i'm can't be like... Shredder!" It was Shredder, his greatest enemy in the past, the one he hated most.
Leo realized how similar he was to him now, he'd done things just like Shredder, he'd hurt and killed innocents like Shredder, and though he hadn't killed his brothers, he tried to, like Shredder. Leo realized that he had become the one he hated the most, he began to lose his composure with these thoughts, breathing rapidly, he leaned against the tree, his hand pressed against his chest, where his heart was beating rapidly as he hyperventilated. Memories of himself as Maximus Kong kept coming back to him, not just those but also the memories of Shredder, comparing themselves to each other.
"I'm not like him! I'm not like him! I'm not like him!" Leo's thought repeated itself over and over as the memories continued, he was having a panic attack. This only worsened when he started hearing screams, screams of innocents that he and Shredder had hurt and killed.
Leo couldn't take it anymore, he tried to breathe deeply, but the panic attack continued, and so did the memories, he couldn't calm down, and his family wasn't there to provide emotional support, he was already regretting having walked away from them. Leo felt like he was going to have a heart attack. But then...
"Leonardo." Everything stopped, the memories and screams stopped, when Leo heard a voice, a familiar voice. Leo was still having a panic attack as he listened to the voice.
"Take a deep breath." the voice asked. "Think of good memories and breathe."
Leo closed his eyes as he breathed and began trying to recall the good memories. He remembered when he and his brothers were children and had received their weapons, when they had turned fifteen and gone to the surface and tried pizza for the first time, their games and pranks, which although some were annoying, were actually quite fun, when they had saved the world countless times and celebrated with parties and dances, and the love and affection he and his brothers had for each other. Leo gradually calmed down, and the memories comforted him.
Leo finally calmed down. He looked around to see who that voice belonged to, but there was no one. Leo recognized that voice, but it wasn't any of his brothers, but he knew that voice somewhere. Leo lay down in a tree to try to sleep and try to avoid those negative thoughts, the voice spoke again, comforting him.
"Don't worry, as long as you're with your family, everything will be okay... my son."
Hey guys, I hope you enjoyed the fanfic, I was very inspired to make a TMNT Mutant Apocalypse fanfic that explores Leo's trauma and mental health, and I plan to explore more in the future, at the moment there is only this fanfic and there won't be more anytime soon, I just wanted to write a text that addresses the aftermath of Carmageddon and Leo's mental health, but I plan to make more in the future.
