Hello :D I'm just genuinely curious bc I didn't see it in your list of WIPs, but are you planning on continuing tmqimh? It's one of my favourites to re-read, but it's also totally fair if you've run out of steam on it
it's there, don't worry! the doc title is DC x 4869, bc in japanese, 4-8-6-9 = shi-ha-ro-ku = sherlock (appx)
here's a snippet for you!
KID stared at him for a long, excruciating moment, something unreadable in his expression.
"...Remind me what your birthday is, Meitantei?"
HAPPY STS MATE!! ❤❤❤ What do you think would be the *best* way to compliment each of your characters, and how would they react?
an excellent question!! my apologies for the much belated answer <3
Alinora — Compliments usually make her roll her eyes. She doesn’t know what to do with sincerity. (Praise her loyalty and her skill. Her dedication & her drive. And maybe tell her she’s pretty, too.)
Elaena — Tell her she’s terrifying, eerie, odd, macabre. Tell her it makes you jump when she suddenly appears from the shadows. Tell her she’s funny, interesting, intelligent.
Lyr — Tell him he’s funny, that his stories are engaging, that it’s easy to have a good time with him. Compliment his singing or the way he plays the lute. Tell him he’s a good fighter, that he gave you a challenge, and you’d like to fight him again.
Ava — Compliment her kindness, her compassion, the advice she gives. Thank her for a listening ear. Tell her that her flowers are beautiful, and that you like her hair. Compliment her clothes, her skill with the bow, her singing voice, her skill with a lyre, the neat, looping lines of her handwriting.
Talitha — Talitha is both the easiest & hardest to compliment, because. Of everyone on this list she takes compliments the easiest… provided they’re not coming from people she cares for, or don’t hit on something sincere. That said, compliment her brain, her mind, her magic. Compliment her ship, her sense of fashion, her taste in books. The way she plays the violin. You could also compliment her cooking. She’ll know you’re lying, but she’ll appreciate the gesture ;)
Aishlynn — Aish is probably the easiest person to answer, honestly. Tell her she’s a good person. Tell her she’s kind, tell her you like her. She doesn’t want much except to be liked, & to be told she’s doing a good job. For bonus points you could compliment her needlework; her poetry; her skill on the harp; or her sense of fashion.
Asa — Any kind of compliment makes him shy and awkward, but he appreciates compliments to his work ethic, dedication, the skills he’s worked hard to develop. Tell him his bedside manner is good, that his presence is comforting.
Viviana — Just be sincere, whatever you say. She’ll know if you’re lying.
The other Trade Mark of Quality bootleg I own - a compilation of Beatles Christmas fan club singles. Back in the day, if you were in the Beatles’ fan club, you got a 7” every year of the guys goofing around in the studio, maybe playing some music, and wishing you happy holidays. The Beatles officially released a box set of those singles a few years ago (because what corner of the Beatles’ discography hasn’t been mined to death?), but for decades, bootlegs like this were the only way to hear these often bizarre and definitely rare singles. Since the audio was lifted direct from the singles themselves, the sound is fantastic, and of course, it sports a gorgeous cover by commercial illustrator William Stout.
my faves from @livvywrites‘ amazing wip the martyr queen.. as dinosaurs! ft. tali and nora arguing, lyr being a little shit, and aish taking a break from being grumpy to be cute with healer baby

Alinora Mynerva
“My name is Alinora Mynerva. You can call me Nora.”
“...”
“Must I continue?”
“...”
“Fine. My name is Alinora Mynerva. You can call me Nora. I was once the crown princess of Mynera before that was torn from my hands. Once by outside forces and once by myself. I worked as an assassin for a bit. Nowadays they call me Death’s Champion. It’s more an empty title than anything else, though it wouldn’t be if I could get the hang of these stupid powers…”
Elaena
“My name is Elaena. No last name, because reapers don’t really need them, no?” She shrugs. “I’m death’s eldest daughter and the first reaper. Grand titles, yes, but little more than a circumstance of birth. Or would creation be more accurate?” She shrugs again. “These days I spend less time escorting souls to and from the afterlife, and more time serving as handler of Death’s Champion. It’s… interesting.”
Lyr & Ava Inerra
“My name is Lyr, and this is my twin sister, Ava.”
She waves.
“We’re twins. After the defeaat of Kai’os, we took over the leadership of our people, alongside our cousin Amara and several other trustworthy Slaeyr. It’s boring. Really, really boring, actually. Mostly we make laws and try to figure out how to turn the isle of Sylfae into a place Slaeyr can really thrive. I’d much rather be out doing something, but… this is where we’re needed. I guess.”
Talitha Jade
“Name’s Captain Talitha Jade. You probably haven’t heard of me. I spent the first few years of my career in piracy plundering old Anarian ruins for secrets and treasure. Then used my degree in magical theory and runicology to puzzle out old spells and forgotten pieces of history. Though, to tell the truth, I did that under a pseudonym. Also published a few spells under the name, to tell the truth. They’ve gained a bit of traction through the magical community. I don’t want to brag, but I’m something of a big deal there.
“Or, well, my alias is.” She pauses. “What’s my alias? Well. Normally I wouldn’t say. There’s a reason I’m publishing under a false name, after all, but for you I’ll make an exception.” She winks. “Call me Bridget Alum.
“I suppose you’re also wondering what a magical theorist is doing as a pirate? As a pirate captain, to boot. Well first, I’d like to remind you that it isn’t nice to stereotype people. Not every pirate you meet is an uneducated ruffian, though I will grant you that they’re certainly out to plunder your gold. A lot of pirates fall on hard times, or abandon the navy or merchant’s guild due to unfair policies. Real sad stuff, to tell the truth. Me, though, I was never in the navy. Wasn’t even a navy brat! Or a merchant brat!
“Nah, my story is a little more mundane. I studied at the Magus College for a time, before that fell through on me. Why? Do you know how bad of a grant problem the College has? It’s pretty bad. No way I’m fighting a bunch of scholars for the extra grants so I can study ancient history. Piracy, on the other hand, is pretty damn lucrative. Especially when instead of pissing off various naval organizations, you plunder ancient ruins for long-lost magical secrets instead. And make money off of the enchanted items in there. Or money off of replicating them.
“Anyway. It means I have a ton of research and my crew is well-paid, so everyone’s happy!
“We did take a bit of a break to help Mynera out with their Slaeyr problem, though. Once that was done… well. We took off. But instead of resuming our plundering, we ended up dragged off onto another adventure.” Talitha rolled her eyes. “Now, though… now we’ve settled onto the pirate’s cove. Used to be I wasn’t allowed to step foot here, but the pirate king and I…. we worked things out.” She smiles, and it’s a dangerous thing.
Aishlynn Mynerva
“My name is Aishlynn Mynerva. To tell the truth, there isn’t much to be said about me. I was once a Myneran princess, before I was claimed as a Slaeyr. I helped lead a resistance against a very dangerous man, and I also helped my sister stop that man. Up until about six months ago, I was working with a pirate--one Talitha Jade--to stop that man’s daughter from continuing what he started… or worse. Until I… saw the light, you could say.” She smiles, just a hint. “Now I am Kaltain Inerra’s most trusted advisor. And I like it that way.”
Viviana Westerguard
“My name is Viviana Westerguard. I… think. That’s what they tell me, anyway. I’m not… there’s not much I remember. Except… I remember… a terrible, blinding light. Darkness. And a horrible scream.” She shudders and stays silent a moment; looking haunted. “And something that I need to do.”
Asa Veranus
“Name’s Asa Veranus. I’m a healer, which means I don’t have time for much of anything at all except for healing. Or… normally I wouldn’t. But the lov— I mean, one of my closest friends, Aishlynn Mynerva, has gone missing. I haven’t heard from her in weeks, and I need to find her. I’m worried that something terrible has happened. Call it a gut feeling. Something you learn to listen to, when you work as a healer. It’s led me to more than one important case. And how I met Aishlynn in the first place.”
Why: Outstanding work and service, delivered surprisingly quickly given the fantastic quality!
When: September 30 to October 2, 2017
Explain: On September 30th, I asked tmq if I could be put on the USD pinglist for when slots opened in their shop, here:
http://www1.flightrising.com/forums/art/2275087/1
They were kind enough to offer to open up a slot for me, and I accepted! My ideas were admittedly pretty vague, but again they stepped up and offered to send me a sketch to make sure everything looked okay. Once I had confirmed that I was happy with the sketch and the payment was sent, I received the art, which looked stunning, within just a few days of placing my order! I’m very happy with the results, the communication, and how quickly the work was done - especially at such an affordable price!
Now one of my favorite dragons finally has a gijinka (that I absolutely love), and I’m happy to say I’ll be returning to their shop in the future! Thank you tmq!
