Chickens and Nuggets, if I were to, perhaps, find myself in want to watch the one and only 3Below, and found myself lacking access to a way to watch said show, where, my beloved foodstuffs, might I find a way to watch it????

I think instead of telling people not to write about certain subjects it would likely be a lot more helpful to have discussions of nuance and the treatment of those subjects in a fictional context. I think in a lot of these “no more x in this genre” topics a lot of people who either a. handle those topics with the needed sensitivity or b. are writing from direct experiences also kept swept into the same box of writing something deemed undesirably or “bad” by people who are way too open-minded to have those things discussed in the fiction they consume.
Okay. Honestly. I’m just talking about racism and discrimination in things like fantasy. No one is ever going to pull discussing racism, classism, homophobia, etc. in my fantasy worlds from my hands but I’m also not gonna take away anyone’s choice to pass over my work because of it I just think it’s silly to assume that my take on those subjects as a gay black author gets put into the same box as some cishet white man who talked about the oppression of elves in a book published in 1981 and that became the standard of talking about discrimination in a fictional world. As much as plenty of people use fantasy as a complete escape from the real world and its issues there are the same amount of people who use it to highlight those issues.
The whole “people read fantasy to cope or to escape” works both ways. I have also felt safer discussing racism, classism, and homophobia in a fantasy context where there is still an element of detachment from my real world experience and I can write worlds where these discussions have more successful results. It is not inherently lazy to derive conflict from these subjects or to have them evident in world building but it does matter who is doing, why, and to what end.
At this point I am just actively procrastinating the Credit Card Coding, and I don’t know why it’s not even hard
i’ve just thought of something marvelous so...
kotlc squad as things that have happened to me during online learning:
sophie: being the first person to join every class call ever and then having to have awkward small talk with the teacher of the class
fitz: going on mute to express the anger felt from the fact that some teachers are very rude (coughcoughspanishteachercoughcough)
biana: getting dressed and ready for calls where the camera has to be on
keefe: not going to a class call in the form of self-care and claiming that the computer was having connection issues
dex: only being contacted for the answers to homework and then giving the answers to the person who asked / being put into a breakout group but no one else joins the group
linh: quietly doing work alongside the teacher and getting really happy when the answer is correct / petting every single pet that walks by the computer for emotional support
tam: hating social interaction and not turning the mic or camera on if it’s not needed
marella: avoiding joining a new call by blasting the unreleased song “men ain’t shit” by doja cat on doja cat because everyone in your old call was a guy who is gonna ask for answers later on
I really gotta write but my mood was on the fence between opening a document or opening YouTube. I opened my document but saw my sister was active on messenger. I could procrastinate writing by calling her. Very well knowing it would last 2-3 hours. I shouldn’t. I really shouldn’t.
*calling my sister*

Yeah we uh….we are not doing well right now. Not sure if you got any news about Charlottesville VA but…yeah. Not been a good time over here. Currently trying to get my family on Medicaid and its a special circle of hell.
Tbh, because of American Cultural Imperialism, most people in other countries who use Facebook and have access to a news station know more about conflict in the USA than they do about relevant conflict in their own countries...
