What are the news on Heart Forth, Alicia? How long has it been?
The latest weekly dev stream remarked that an updated version of the all-backers demo – the first in nearly four years – might be dropping this week, but there’s been no confirmation yet.
(At the time of this posting, Heart Forth, Alicia has been in development for 5202 days; it surpassed Duke Nukem Forever in February of this year.)
At this point, why do you still live in that absolute nightmare of a house? Are there just no better options at all?? Wishing the best for your health and the renovation of the hairy walls!
Have you ever tried to sell a house with known mold and asbestos issues? Because you’ve got to declare that shit once you find it.
Also, the housing market is insane right now. I’ve seen houses in worse-off condition than ours selling for 50-90k more than what we paid for this place. It’s bonkers.
So yeah, you do what you do when you get stuck with a mortgage, you make the most of it and fix things as and when you can. Hopefully, by the time we’re done with this place, it’ll be a nice home, instead of a shambling monstrosity of errors.
Could you give bug advice? I frequently sit outside in the same place to eat breakfast, and sometimes this wasp will come and hover around me very insistently. It's always one, so I think it's the same one every time, looks like a yellowjacket but maybe a bit more compact/oval? It hasn't bit or stung me, but it's insistent. It hovered so close to my hand once I could feel the breeze, and it followed me when I moved my hand. (1/2)
(2/2) Had to blow on it to make it leave. It wasn't interested in the orange slice I left out for it, it flew over to it briefly and then came back to still try to land on me specifically. Usually after I blow on it a few times it flies away. This doesn't happen every time I'm outside, but often enough. Is it just attracted to something like lotion/body wash on me? Is there anything specific I should do? I'm mostly chill with it. (2/2)
It doesn't sound like aggressive behavior, at least. It's possible it's a solitary wasp whose nest is nearby and it's just checking you out. I'd really have to see it and ID it to have a better idea of what its behavior might mean. But since you're eating breakfast, it may be the smell of your food it's coming to inspect, even if it didn't seem particularly interested in the orange. Or like you said, maybe it's attracted to something on your body. I think what you're already doing is entirely appropriate! Generally if you mostly ignore them, wasps will go away on their own.
I don't know if you've answered this before? But what factors exactly influence which mentor you get assigned? Do starting stats contribute? Does all dialogue? Is there some randomization? I replayed a few times to test some things, and in two saves I made the same choices except for one small dialogue with Quarinius, and got Cenric the first time and Sero the other time, so how did that happen?
It’s tied to how you respond to Quirinus when he’s grilling you. For Varyn and Sero, this is their first impression of you. For Cenric, he hasn’t talked with you much prior to this and it helps form his opinion overall opinion of you.
Who you ride/walk with is the tie-breaker, should there be a tie.
I didn’t want to tie it to stats because who your Master is boosts certain things, so it didn’t make sense to have the MC choose Persuasion and/or Perception during the fannarl fight and then default to Varyn, who boosts more Persuasion and Perception.
An exact guide is below:
“[...] were you scared when the fannarl attacked?”
Approval in the Prologue is a temp stat for just the Prologue, it won’t affect things later on because the main game takes place 18 years afterwards. I did this to circumvent problems with the Quick Character Creator, which lets you skip the Prologue and choose exactly what stats and which Master you want.
Etienne: Not much! It takes a whole lot to bother him at all. Perhaps a direct (or percieved) threat to his life would shake him, though.
Maryam: The idea of letting people down, in both small and large ways. So naturally she's going to be feeling a whole lot of dread during her route, sadly.
Shiloh: Forced social interactions, babey! They love talking to people, but only under circumstances they have control over. The idea of having to talk to people in public that they aren't comfortable with freaks them out.
A: Why are you excited about this character?
Etienne: It would be spoiler if I elaborated much, but one of his endings is going to be deliciously fun to write. I'm also just enjoying his dialogue a lot so far.
Maryam: Her character arc is kind fucked up ngl it's gonna be fun to write
Shiloh: ...I just love Shiloh lol. And also their storyline is pretty wild and is going to be a bit involved and kinda kooky, which is nice.
Hi, just wanted to say that I love the timelapse videos!! Your lineart is super clean and the shading is so smooth that it's always satisfying to watch the drawing come to life!
awh thank you! n_n
I’m so glad clip studio added this feature so I can share more process vids with yall
Do the companions have defined stats (strength, agility, perception, persuasion) like the MC does? Probably not, but what would their stats be if they had them?
They don’t! That’s far too much for me to manage, given how large the cast is and how many characters join the MC on their quest at different points. I don’t want to be running stat checks for them as well as the MC. I’m still not even 100% whether I’m going to structure a DA/ME-style “choose your party” mechanic into some sections since there’s already enough variations and branches as it is.
But if they did have stats, I’d think it would be something like this (think of these as starting stats, like for the MC, so a total of 9 points for each). I’ve added a Magic category, since that is applicable to everyone except Aeran. Also, there is a difference between N/A and 0. ;)
