Hello!! Congratulations on the alpha release of episode 3!! I finally finished my playthrough so I checked out the blog and realized there was a MAJOR Aeran lore dump I missed, is that locked behind his romance path? On my high friendship path I didn't learn anything new about the spire/sabien/etc. May have to make an Aeranmancer for the plot...
To get Aeran's scene, you need to ensure the following is true:
Survive long enough to reach the battlements. This means successfully getting past Allegra and/or Oshiro, and not running for the way out if you happened to pass the Perception check and got that information. You also have to get past Nezra.
If you chose not to forgive Aeran earlier in the episode when prompted OR your approval was already too low it defaulted to the MC not forgiving him, then you need to select the 1. Show him compassion. option when speaking to him. This option is not accessible if you went down a path where you punched him (the one where you get "Hit him" several times in a row).
If encountering Aeran on the battlements immediately defaults to a fight or you get a 1. Your relationship is too far gone. You feel no compassion for him. message, then your approval was too low when you entered Diradan and your MC did not take appropriate steps to make some kind of amends with him and get him to open up (this is still possible even on low approval*).
If you ended up in Zone E (siding with with Solarath) on the MC Stays Hired By Lethalis continuity, then the above conditions are waived and you should get the lore dump as long as you reach the battlements.
*"low" approval for Aeran in Episode 3 counts as anything 59 and under. 60 is his threshold for "high" approval—however there are a number of action/behavioural choices the MC can make that will effect how things play out outside of approval, so approval is NOT the be all end all.
Aeran has a behaviour continuity flag that is set in stone when you enter the tower grounds; it determines much of how the MC thinks of him in the back half of Episode 3 and how he engages with them. If you want to ensure you have the best chance of unlocking this scene, make sure your approval is above 60 BEFORE you go into the tower and that you select the 2. This isn’t right. If you’re the one who has to take the first step, then you will. You have no other choice. if you are prompted for it.
Romance is not necessary, but you will automatically unlock the scene if you did the Episode 2 romance or friendship reconciliation.
