Tobias and the Angels (1908) by Jacek Malczewski

The inspiration for the painter was the biblical story of Tobit's journey, taken from the Book of Tobit. In the Bible, the companion of the boy wandering with the dog was only the Archangel Raphael. Malczewski's painting depicts all three Archangels known from the Catholic tradition: Raphael, Michael and Gabriel. These figures hold the symbols of a staff, a lily and a sword, according to their main qualities.

For Malczewski, however, these are not male types, but rather feminine, with powerful colorful wings. In Rafał's face you can recognize the face of Malczewski's muse Maria Balowa. Tobias himself is a barefoot boy. In the background, the rural landscape is depicted. The painting was purchased in 1938 from the artist's wife Maria Malczewska in Charzewice.

Absolutely wild to me that some people (and I mean mostly other Christian denominations) read Saint Raphael's instructions in the Book of Tobit as "magic".

How ridiculous is this? Do you take it as magic when a prophet or angel gives someone instructions for a miracle in any other part of Scripture?
