Aunt May works as a seamstress in a nearby dress shop. Whenever she needed to look after Peter and work she'd bring him along. Overtime Peter learned all about how to make dresses and suits from the ladies at the shop and May even let him work on a few of his own. It was a great form of bonding for both of them.
One day Peter dropped by Tony's to check in, only to find Pepper having a fashion emergency because of a rip in the sequence of her dress. She only had an hour until she had to be at a formal event and she wasn't prepared to change. Sequence is almost impossible to mend and at that point the dress is ruined. Peter managed to find a pair of scissors and some needle and thread. He managed to cut away at the rip without damaging too much of the dress and hand stitch the edges. Of course like any tailor Peter used extra flare to draw attention away from the problem area but marking it into a slit up the hip to show off some of Peppers legs. It would also make it easier to move.
Pepper was extremely greatfull and joked that if she ever needed his emergency mending he'd be the first she'd call. A week later he got an emergency call from her again but it wasn't for her. Tony managed to actually ruin ten of his suits including one he needed for that night. Peter sighed and when about gathering the fabrics he needed for this job.
Overtime he began taking on jobs from the other Avengers. Clint needed a blanket embroidered for his daughter, Steve needed his old uniform touched up, and a few other small jobs.
It was however Pepper's birthday when he made something really special for her. It was a dress he'd been working on for months. It was made using a silk like fabric Peter had invented while experimenting with web fluid. It was a tear resistant and machine washable. It was soft, durable and could be dyed any color.
The dress was a beautiful gold and silver and unlike anything seen before.
Pepper loved it so much that she harped on and on about how amazing Peter was. (Not that she didn't before because come on she adored him.)
Tony immediately wanted to give Peter a brand so he could sell more of his wonderful works but Peter turned it down. He would much rather continue making them for his friends. That is until Tony and Pepper got a call from Beyonce asking for her own Spider dress and then all bets were off.
