Duke and poison ivy!

Due to the lack of the dynamic duo in this universe duke never joins the we are robin movement and spends a large portion of his civilian life happily with his parents, unfortunately for duke how parents suffer the same fate as canon were after a dose of joker gas both are hospitalised and duke is left alone. The key change here is that directly after the loss of his parents duke holds more resentment towards people , Batman and the joker in particular, if neither had their feud his parents would be ok. In his distress duke locates poison ivy and as politely has he can asks her to do so,etching about Batman and the joker.

While ivy would typically be hostile to any human approach from civilians she takes pity on duke and hears him out. Another change I’ve made to dukes story in this is that he’s aware and capable of using his photokenesis from a very young age which he shows to ivy to prove that ‘he can help’ if she’s willing to fight Batman and joker.

Ivy refuses his offer to fight as she and Batman are on somewhat neutral ground as of late so long as she keeps her eco terrorism to a minimum but asks duke to stick around while his parents recover (spoiler alert they don’t ☹️)

Despite the lack of villainy duke finds fulfilment working with ivy and on occasion begins jointing her in her activism as her partner in crime and personal plant keeping apprentice.

Duke and ivy go through the same process ivy and Harley did to allow duke to be immune to ivys pheromones, poisons and pollens with monthly injections to help, duke also carries around small seeds and pollens in his pockets to plant in combat, even though he lacks control over them ivy has bred them to grow excessively fast when exposed to sunlight such as duke is able to create and manipulate.

based on the fact that some of the current official 1998 PPG merch has Blossom's hair colored a lot brighter than it should be (as if that ain't the only problem with their merch).
