i find it really interesting that you say you don't usually intend to write obi-wan and can't get a handle on him- that specific chapter of The Heir where obi-wan walks in is probably my favorite in the fic (though the entire story is wonderful, definitely one of my favorite star wars fics of all time) and i felt like you really got his characterization right!
asdfghjk thank you!!<3 That chapter was super hard for me to write and strike the balance, because of who Obi-Wan is, because -- I understand him? Sort of? On an emotional level and what his motivations are, I understand him, and he’s probably a lot more like me than Vader or Luke are. (Maybe the issue is that I don’t find him as interesting because of that? Writing him is like writing my same daily thought process and worries and it’s stressful XD.) He’s not Luke or Vader or one of the other characters I would die for, so I’ve not put such effort into writing him over and over, but he is a super interesting character I don’t want to get wrong, so I end up walking a fine line trying not to reduce him to something more 2D than he is.
I’m really glad to know you think I succeed! I think it’s harder work because his thoughts are what I expect, a bit to the left, rather than a lot other character to settle into, but I put a lot of thought into getting him right, I still care about his character deeply <3
