You’re a Part of Me : A jackieshauna amoeba fic
Ever since their petrie dish had crashed to the ground of the Canadian wilderness… the yellowjackets amoebas had struggled to survive.
Shauna Cellman wasn’t the smartest amoeba. Hell, she didn’t even have a brain. But she knew that she wanted to absorb her best friend Jackie.
Ever since they first budded off of their parents, Jackie was special and Shauna was just any other single-celled organism. That didn’t make it any easier when Jackie died.
Shauna didn’t mean what she said. She didn’t mean all of the awful, hurtful things she screamed at Jackie in their final moments. She didn’t really believe Jackie was pathetic.
What happened was tragic. Jackie slipped through the lid of the petri dish into the unforgiving harsh conditions of the wilderness. She wasn’t able to survive for long as she had been far too reliant on the climate controlled environment of the Rutger’s science lab.
Her teammates could barely pull her lifeless cell back into the dish as Shauna screamed, begging for Jackie to move her cilia, to wake up. But it was too late. She had died.
Now 2 minutes later, the team of amoebas grew restless. They had been in the wilderness for almost an entire hour without a scientist giving them anything on which to feed.
Shauna was first to take opportunity as she approached jackie’s lifeless round form. Reaching out a cilia, shauna stroked jackie’s motionless plasma membrane. “She wants us to.”
The amoebas wiggled their way through the damp petrie dish toward jackie… but shauna advanced too quickly. She absorbed jackie entirely into her cell. Shauna felt jackie’s features being absorbed into her cell body, replenishing her.
Now twice the size, Shauna would be unstoppable compared to the rest of the yellowjackets. Now they’re in real danger.
