from tv ads, to magazines, to movies, her face was everywhere.
headline to headline with her name boldly shown on the cover with her gorgeous face, it was amazing how successful she had become over the years.
everyone wanted what she had, if she wore a certain brand, that was the next biggest trend, she talked about an app she didn’t like, suddenly the users dropped, she everything, aside from love.
ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚
it was cold and wet outside, and she had just finished up a photoshoot for another ad.
she. was. STARVING.
“ugh, I need food. If I don’t eat I’ll die.”
she groaned, laying herself on a random chair she had found.
“we can deliver something if you like.”
one of the production crew members offered, pulling out their phone.
“no, I want to get it myself. I’m a grown woman.”
she sneered, sitting up, holding her head in her hands.
“Damn no need to be snippy.”
they clicked their tongue, walking to go get some other props.
she rolled her eyes, opening her phone for restaurants nearby.
“I think I’ll go here, I’ll be back in like thirty.”
she got up, putting on a mask and hat as she slipped her coat on, heading out the door.
“does anyone else think she’s kind of bitchy?”
“of for sure.”
ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚
the restaurant was rather quiet, not many people came in during this time of year because all the face was with those organic salads with little to no nutrients in their food.
the bell on the door chimed, a customer!
you got up from the counter and walked over to her standing by the door.
“dining in, carry out, or pick up?”
“dining in.”
you nodded, taking her to a single table, going and grabbing her a menu and water, placing it gently on the table, pulling out your notepad.
“what would you like to drink other than water, ma’am?”
“uhm… what do you recommend?”
she said, pushing her hat down further.
“oh, I think the agua de pepino is good.”
“the… what?”
you sighed, flipping the menu over.
“agua de pepino, it’s a sweet cucumber drink, though not many people order it because they don’t know how to pronounce it, automatically assuming it’s evil or whatever.”
she nodded, her cheeks flushing under the mask.
“oh, I’ll take that please.”
you scribbled it down before looking back at her.
“have you figured out what you want to eat?”
“the…”
she looked at the menu, sounding it out the best she could which wasn’t very well.
“tos-tadas”
“okay, what meat?”
“pork please.”
you nodded, scribbling that down before heading off into the kitchen, grabbing her drink, then heading back into the kitchen to cook her food.
she looked down at the agua de pepino, her face from under the mask showing slight discomfort from how the drink looked, but put the straw in and took a sip.
instantly her face lit up, getting rid of the straw and instead pulling her mask off and chugging it in a matter of seconds.
she wiped her face with her sleeve, not even caring that her expensive coat now had cucumber on it, this drink was far too good to worry about that.
ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚
you came out of the kitchen, placing the plate down on the table, the smell just making her salivate.
before you were even able to step away she started devouring the food in front of her, taking massive bites and licking her lips.
you looked deadpan, grabbing her glass and going to refill it as she shoveled more food into her mouth, just barely keeping the cheese off her sleeves.
you placed the refilled cup on the table, going over to the counter as she chugged her drink.
ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚
when she finished (and cleaned herself up) she went over to the counter, waiting for you to look up at her.
when you finally did you checked everything she ordered and typed it into the register.
“fifteen thirty nine. Would you like a receipt?”
“yes please.”
you printed it out, handing it over as she pulled out her wallet, grabbing out the cash, placing it in you palm.
“alright, thank you.”
she nodded again, pulling out two hundreds and holding them out to you.
your eyes widened and you shook your head.
“take it.”
you shook your head again, backing away.
she grabbed your palm and placed them in your hand before leaving you could give it back.
you looked at the money in your hand, then shrugged, shoving it in your pocket before sitting back down again.
ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚
back at the studio Lauren was happy as a puppy, smiling and genuinely enjoying herself despite how bitter she had been just half an hour earlier.
“the hells got her in such a good mood?”
on the of the light crew muttered to the photographer, who just shrugged and shook his head.
“no clue, but whatever the hell it is makes our jobs a whole lot easier.”
ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚
after the photoshoot Lauren laid in her bed, scrolling on her phone, still thinking about how acted towards her, being so calm and uncaring.
it felt kind of nice for a change.
“She was kinda pretty.”
she muttered, rolling over, searching up the name of your restaurant again, only being met with a menu screen and phone number for ordering online.
she frowned at that. Why didn’t you have your face? It was nice it enough to show, and there wasn’t one of those listings on how the restaurant came to be.
maybe, she would make an actual appearance, show up and get some attention.
ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚
you were sitting at the counter, scribbling something on a spare sheet of paper, again, no customers.
“ding!”
you looked up, seeing a customer.
Lauren, she was dressed up in a rather nice red dress, her classic light makeup, and her blonde hair styled.
she smiled at you, waiting to be seated.
you got up from the counter, standing in front of her calmly.
“carry out, pick up, or dining in?“
“dining in.”
you nodded, calmly walking her over to a single table, going to the back to get a glass of water and a menu.
your brother happened to be there, in the kitchen chopping up vegetables and what not.
as you came in, he grinned.
“someone come in?”
“yeah, some rich lady or something.”
you grabbed a cup, filling it with water and ice cubes while your brother groaned.
“ugh, they like never tip well.”
you nodded and stopped in your tracks, turning back to him.
“yeah, some lady came in last night, and after paying she handed my like two hundred dollars and left before I could give it back.”
he blinked, eyes widened.
“I’m sorry, what?”
“yeah I don’t even know dude.”
you walked out of the kitchen, placing the menu and water on the table, pulling out your notepad and one.
“what would you like to drink?”
“the agua de pepino, please.”
you nodded, scribbling it down.
you hurried off into the kitchen again, seeing your brother peeking over to see the customer who came in.
you pushed passed him, grabbing a pitcher and grabbing another glass, looking at him with his jaw dropped.
“the hell’s up with you?”
“that’s Lauren Davidson, in our restaurant, ordering our food.”
he muttered, eyes still focused on the closed swinging doors.
“¿Quien es ella?
“What…”
“I don’t know who that is.”
“She’s a famous actress and model! She’s on like half the magazines in that shelf out front!”
“oh, okay.”
“HOW ARE YOU- oh right, you like don’t really care..”
“yeah, no; I don’t.”
you walked out of the kitchen, placing the drink down, pulling out your notepad again.
“what would you like to eat?”
“the pork tostada please.”
“okay, anything else?”
“no that’s it, please.”
you nodded, heading back into the kitchen, handing the order over to him.
ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚
as soon as the food came out Lauren smiled, watching you walk away with a small smile.
she pulled out her phone, taking photos of her, the food, and her with the food.
she posted it onto her instagram story, grinning widely adding captions and the name.
“this food is SOOOOOO good!! I’ve never had such good Mexican food before!! 10/10 highly recommend!!”
she posted it, taking a bite of said food while doing so.
like yesterday, she finished everything quickly, cleaned herself up, and went to the counter to pay.
you sat there behind the counter, typing in numbers.
“fifteen thirty nine.”
she reached into her wallet, pulling out the money, as you put it into the register she leaned over the counter slightly.
“So, what’s your name?“
“none-ya.”
she frowned at that, pulling out three hundreds and holding them towards you.
“all I want is your first name, and you can have this.”
you looked back at the cash, eyes narrowing.
“really, do I strike you as the type of girl who can be bought with money?”
“yes you do.”
“well you’re absolutely right.”
you swiped your cash, barely saying your name above a whisper, making her grin. She nodded getting up from the counter, and walking out calmly.
you got up. flipped the sign to closed, and walked back into the kitchen holding the hundreds.
“I got three hundred just by giving that chick my name!”
“Why the hell did she want your name?”
“I dunno, but we got three hundred more dollars.”
ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚
the next week the restaurant was filled with people from opening time to closing, it was almost never empty.
back to back orders and money was pouring in like crazy.
“how the hell did we go from like nobody to even tourists in a matter of like a week?”
you questioned, grabbing water for another table as your brother finished plating up another massive order.
you rushed in and out of the kitchen, taking orders, serving orders, and barely giving yourself a break.
ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚
at the end of the night you were slumped over a table as your brother was counting money.
“Michael, my feet hurt.”
you whined, with him snorting and placing down another stack.
“at least you don’t got a shit ton of burns, I’ve gotten like four today alone.”
you huffed, holding your head in your hands; suddenly the phone rang making the both of you jump slightly.
“who the hell is calling this late? We’re closed.”
Micheal sighed, finally finishing counting the profit made.
ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚
it rang fifteen times, and by this time you both had been tired of that ringing for a good while so your finally got up, grabbing it and answering.
“sorry, we’re closed call again tomorrow.”
“we’re aware you’re closed. we’re calling ahead of time, sir.”
you two looked at each other, looking back at the phone.
“for, what?”
“We’re having a photoshoot and were wondering if you and your sister would be willing to be part of it.”
you shook your head, having a bad feeling in the pit of your stomach.
“sorry, we’re not willing to do that.”
“we can pay you handsomely.”
“were are children of light, your rich people money has no appeal to us.”
you scoffed, grinning at the phone.
“twenty thousand dollars.”
your jaws dropped, now leaning on the counter.
“reheheheeeee…. Reallyyy?”
you batted your eyelashes and your brother twirled a strand of hair.
“yes, as the bottom line offer, if you do better we’ll give more. We’ll stop by tomorrow to bring the paper work to sign.”
the phone then clicked on the other line, leaving you two alone in silence.
ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻ੈ✩‧₊˚
“explain to me again on why you wanted to do this again, ma’am?”
the man said, the annoyance clear in his tired eyes.”
Lauren simply looked in her hand mirror, applying mascara to her lashes, grinning widely.
“because that girl is something special, I know it. We were meant for each other and I’m going to make sure that it’ll happen.”
