We hope more people do the best they can to learn American Sign Language. Even if it's just the basic signs in a beginners level.

It can open up so many new doors for so many deaf, late deaf, hard of hearing, autistic, multiple DIFFabled... It can help those with any vocal issues, from birth, a stroke, or tragic accident. Learning a new language can help decrease almost any kind of cognitive brain issues.

Sign language can also help hearing people to "hear" in loud places or large crowds, while they protect their hearing by wearing ear plugs or musicians wearing ear monitors and also save their voices, by not having to yell above any noisy crowds, just use sign language.

As you can see, learning sign language has so many great benefits.

Thank you to everyone who are already learning, just like Mr. Macaulay Culkin.

Educational choices for deaf and hard of hearing children in Northeast Ohio

This website has been established by families of Cleveland-area children with hearing loss to help parents find appropriate educational opportunities for their own deaf or hard of hearing (D/HH) children. Specifically, we want to provide families with information regarding the “total communication” approach to deaf education and our own positive experiences with a program based on this approach that is administered through the Beachwood School system.* Although different approaches to D/HH education are sometimes presented in terms of conflicting “ideologies”, we feel it is more helpful for parents to be aware that among a range of approaches that are available, some may be better suited than others to each child’s specific needs. This site includes general information, family testimonials to their own experiences with a TC program, and an academic perspective on deaf education. We also provide links to additional information on the Beachwood program as well as other options in D/HH education in the greater Cleveland area.
