Sandra Mae Frank and Joel Kinnaman The Silent Hour (2024)
So I’ve been watching the newest season of Foundation and can I just say how cool it is to have a major character (First Speaker Preem Palver) who is deaf (played by a deaf actor!) and communicates with other characters exclusively in subbed sign language?!? Getting to see sign language in action like that is so cool and I wish more things did that and had the guts to do it in a way that requires more work for the hearing people watching it!!! Also I really want to learn sign language but I’m not sure if my hands would be good at it… I should see if I can learn though, I know some words. Either way the totally different syntax of it is SO COOL and it’s awesome seeing it in action, like when he signs “you were never going to do this alone” as far as I can tell the actual signs made are something about going alone, a “nuh-uh-uh” somewhat sassy gesture, and then going with a group. IT IS JUST SO COOL AND MORE SHOWS SHOULD DO THIS (and should do it with deaf actors too, like that’s also a very important factor) (and the other actors having to learn sign for the scenes is awesome, I respect it a lot)
Meet the Cast of 'Star Trek: Starfleet Academy' with Holly Hunter, Rober...
Have you seen it yet?
Starfleet Academy!
A Deaf male actor that uses American Sign Language and a hard of hearing female captain, Holly Hunter (The Piano) that became deaf in one ear as a child from the mumps.
Oh my gosh! More actors with hearing issues in major movies or series shows.
I'm so excited to watch this series on Paramount!
Hopefully it continues a long while.
Deafies, Hard of Hearies and Trekkies unite!
It's not impairment, it's differently abled!
Diffabilities can!
🤟🥰☝️🌌 ✌️🙂🦻👍
I fucking love Millicent Simmonds. She's so amazing. She's been in so many Deaf films and she's still so young. She's honestly my idol as a Deaf wannabe-actor. Please check her out if you're looking for a Deaf actor.
HAPPY NATIONAL FOREIGN LANGUAGE WEEK
top to bottom: Theo Dimas (James Caverly), and my husband Teddy Dimas (Nathan Lane). They both speak ASL and AUGHDS I love them both sm Theo I NEED your dad. Yes Teddy is pretty ass at ASL but we (WE) love him still. They could NEVER make me hate him🙏🙏
Lauren Ridloff nee Teruel: April 6, 1978
Deaf West Spring Awakening Alumni, Marlee Matlin (Frau Gabor) and Daniel Durant (Moritz Stiefel) just won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Cast of a Motion Picture (CODA). They made history with being the very first predominantly Deaf cast to win this award. Fellow cast member, Troy Kotsur, became the very first Deaf individual to ever win the award, for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. Troy Kotsur is also a Deaf West Spring Awakening alumnus. He played the role of Herr Stiefel during the early stages of the production. Congratulations to the whole cast!!
