Season 1 Episode 13 "Total Nightmare"

I really enjoyed this episode as it gave Snotlout and Hookfang an extra layer of character development and growth. And it was really lovely to see a further inside look into the Monstrous Nightmares. That was a lovely treat! 🥰

I also loved seeing Snotlout bonding with both of his Nightmares. I could totally see him just hanging out with them or babysitting the babies so that Hookfang and Mrs. Hookfang could "go on a date hunt" or whatever. So precious! 🥰

(Also, keep in mind that these eggs aren't Hookfang's kids. Just some eggs that Hookfang protected, for those of you who haven't watched this episode yet.)

Anyone else think that Snotlout should just establish a Nightmare Sanctuary. 👀

Though I have to say that I was rather disappointed that we didn't get to see the female Nightmare get named. "Female Hookfang" is rather... I'll just say it, it's LAZY!! Just call her "Dragonfruit" or "Ember" or something. 😩

It's also sad that we don't get to see her or the babies again. I kinda wanted passing scenes or mentions of them and see Snotlout occasionally see them with Hookfang. But I guess I'll have to satisfy that urge with a fanfic or three. 😤

It was also disappointing to not see the baby Nightmares. I'm sure they were adorable! 🥺

bc i am a child who is having trouble coping in adult life i am once again rewatching dragons: race to the edge bc it’s the best show ever. and they do a good job keep most of their threads straight. like how there are constrain callbacks to things that happened in previous episodes and such. but like…

what ever happened to hookfangs girlfriend? did those eggs hatch? did hookfang adopt a bunch of little monstrous nightmare babies? did they break up? inquiring minds need to know

Me, knowing how it will end eventually:

For those who have not read the books, the first one literally opens up by saying all the dragons have gone. And I’ve read where the movies will end up like the books do. Granted, the movies, along with the series are a bit different than the books, but still.

Moments Hiccup should have been allowed to say fuck, Total Nightmare edition:

Maybe when he saw the Titan Wing come back? When Snotlout didn’t beat the dome? Idk, it’s been a whole night, I don’t remember many specifics of the ep, but it doesn’t seem to me like there were many opportunities.

Special Snotlout edition: he was too depressed to say fuck, which is significant because if they let him I bet he’d normally say fuck (in its many variations as noun, adjective, verb, adverb, onomatopoeia, affix, etc) at least five times per episode. Either that or he’s oddly unflappable, like “yeah, this is bad, but I’m choosing to be more offended than frustrated or scared”.
