Alright hear me out:

Mermaid AU but with different sea creatures

So like instead of fish hybrids there’s sharks and manta rays and stuff like that.

Gideon and Cam are shark mermaids with long shark tails and dorsal fins on their backs. Gideon is a tiger shark and Cam is a great white (going for color not size)

Ianthe and Corona are jellyfish with cool purple spirals for tails and their hair is the jelly part

Abigail is a manta ray with huge brown flip flap sides

So is Magnus

Harrow is a researcher on a boat looking for signs of mermaid life with her research partner Palamedes. Harrow doesn’t believe I’m mermaids so Palamedes is trying to show her proof they exist, then she gets thrown over by a storm one night.

She’s rescued by someone in the water and wakes up on a rock in the middle of the ocean and sees a fin swimming away, and she becomes obsessed with finding the truth because mermaids don’t exist.

Manta ray Abigail tells Shark Gideon to leave the human alone but Gideon is like “u can’t make me” and her and Jellyfish Ianthe go up to the surface to fuck with the boat cause they heard Harrow talkin shit about mermaids so they’re gonna seriously ruin her day.

The teens are octopi with blue tentacles instead of a tail (they still have arms) because they’re everywhere and grabbing everything all the time!

Harrow and her team (which will include Silas and Judy probably) harpoon Gideon thinking she’s a real shark and Harrow and Pal take a boat out cause they think the “shark” died and they want the body.

They find Gideon on a rock and Harrow’s like “that’s who saved me from the water” and Pal is like “you’ve got to be joking”

So they put her in an aquarium on the ship cause Harrow feels bad she got harpooned and they’re gonna help her get better while hiding her from the others so they don’t drag her to some research facility and Pal is on door duty so there can be some romance as Harrow tends to Gideon’s wounds.

Ooooo and maybe there’s like a secret lab on some island nearby where a team of scientists crank out human/aquatic hybrids for like fun or the government or whatever

And that’s where our shark girls and jellyfish and manta ray mom come from

And the lab is run by (who else) John Gaius

And now Harrow and Pal gotta take it down cause John hears of the boat that found proof of mermaids and he knows it’s his escaped creations and he comes looking for them.

So Harrow has to get her shark gf back
