Wasn't there a trivia page where it was said that Ray hates studying and reading?
On another note what would you have preferred Ray to become when he grew up, instead of the canon's Vice Ceo?
Ray says it himself in chapter 32:
And the mystic code book/volume 0, the official fan book featuring interviews with Shirai and Demizu delving into the production of the series along with multiple Q&A sections where they answer questions from fans, touches on the subject of Ray's interests at a few points:

I was curious about whether TPN tumblr took that as an immutable truth for him at such a young age, forever tarnished by the oppressive nature of Grace Field, or if it was entirely circumstantial and an impassioned declaration brought about by anger and grief he'd kept bottled up for years that once released and taken out of that environment, he could heal and regain his affinity for it
(TPN Light Novel 1: A Letter from Norman - "The Ghost Incidents at Grace Field House" | Chapter 137 Post)
which resulted in me making this poll. With my experience with reading burnout during undergrad, I have a very big soft spot for the latter interpretation.
This also leads into me favoring the idea of him potentially becoming a librarian when he's older, which I talk about at the end of this post discussing the full score trio's future careers and why I dislike Norman and Ray being CEO and Vice CEO respectively while understanding why Shirai opted to put them in those roles.
