I'm scared. Can Asa truly come back to life next week?

We know Yoru aka War Devil is practically immortal now. But what about Asa?

Asa was her blind spot, she almost got beaten thanks to Asa's suicide attempt, so I'm 90% sure Yoru won't let Asa take over from now on. Maybe she will hurt herself again, to make Asa focus to the pain instead of the suicide ideation.

But. Like.

Is that really the only way to keep Asa at bay?

What if there's another way?

Maybe this was a bluff when War Devil was at her weakest state. But, what if, this is no longer a bluff now. What if she can truly take over Asa's brain as long as Yoru is in her full power 100% ?

What if Yoru takes over Asa's brain for good in the next chapter, so Asa dies but Yoru survives?

Then what.

Are we gonna have Denji/Pochita unleashing his dark side or what.

I hope it's just a bluff still. I hope Yoru can never take over Asa's brain 100%. I hope Asa will come back next week, unharmed–even if she get stuck in the subconscious world/alleyway now. Then she'll yell at Denji for ruining her plan, they'll bicker, and Denji will end their bicker with one of this line:

CSM 218 Thoughts

This is all going according to my angsty fanfic in my dash in the past 2 weeks, My God.

Even when they've laughed about being a good person, there's no way the guilt and trauma will ever go away. They're just laughing at their shared irony. No matter how shitty their dad might be, he's still a family related by blood, and killing him makes them bad people, and they both realize this, but at least they get to laugh at how funny they are to have a matching past, and how funny the notion of them being "good people."

Asa is still gonna be suicidal, is still gonna try to save Denji and the rest of humanity in the only way she knew how–by killing herself–without even giving Denji a room to debate, because she just feels that worthless, unworthy of forgiveness, unworthy of love. She thought she's doing it for Denji's sake, but she's mainly just doing it to save herself from further guilt, pain, and misery.

(People commented how selfless Asa's dying wish is now compared to the first time she died, so I'm here to offer another lens to see the same thing differently)

Everyone keeps telling Denji what to do, but what about Denji's opinion? What about Denji's heart?

[If you say you don't care about yourself anymore, what does it say about me...? Still, even if you said you don't care, I DO?? I want you to live??? Even if I can come back to life many times, what's the point if I have no one to connect with??]

I've also done so many unforgivable things I want to scream when I remember them. I killed a bunch of people, I killed my own dad, and I can't forgive myself; but I feel like if you are worth living, it means I also worth living too. Plus, you are a bad liar?? With how similar we are, I know you don't actually want to end your life?? Why do you gotta shoulder the burden alone when I can and want to share your burden?? Are you freaking serious with me??]

"Chainsaw Man please do this for me, Chainsaw Man please do that for me..." Just. No. He's had enough. He's nobody's tool. He do what he wants to do.

For the first time ever, he's able to talk about his traumatic past to someone other than Pochita. For the first time ever, he's able address his past freely and feel safe enough to laugh about it—even when it's laced with irony. For the first time ever, he felt like he can truly connect with someone. She's the only person left who still loves him as who he is. And that said person, wants to kill herself—to "play hero" for his sake? And everyone else want her gone, too.

Absolutely can't.

Not on his watch.

He won't allow it to happen.

He won't let her die and get away with it, because doing so means that she's only toying with his heart AGAIN. He's had enough of people toying with his heart. He's had enough of people ordering him around for their own agenda. He wants to have his own agenda. It's time to take his agency back. And this time, he wants Asa to live.

He only ate Makima because she's in the way of getting the life he truly wanted—otherwise, he still loved her. But Asa. He can never eat Asa. She's not in the way of his dream at all; in fact, she's in the very center of the life he wants to have.

I can't even imagine how triggering it must be for Denji to see someone he loves/cares about shot herself in the head, and had people massacaring her corpse beyond recognition.

How can he ever eat her.

'She's so kind, and yet, so ruthless,' is probably something in Denji's mind.

'How can she do this to me? How can she be so ruthless, leaving me alone in a world that doesn't even want me? How can she be so selfish, wishing for my happiness without consulting me what I want? How can she be so cruel, leaving me behind after inspiring me to live again?'

And I'm not sure if he realize it yet, but eating her with CSM'S power doesn't mean she will just die; her existence will be erased from this world. Someone who shared so many similarities with Denji is going to be erased. As if someone like her—no, him—doesn't deserve to exist. The world— and he too—will forget Asa Mitaka ever exist. I wonder if Denji realize the implication this far.

[Either we live together or we die together—there's no in between.]

I can't wait for the further angst ahead.

*Notes: I have no idea if is it Pochita who move according to Denji's wish or is it Denji who control Pochita's movement, but either way, I can't wait for next week already.

I saw this on twitter and I thought, huh, they're right. What could it mean, indeed.

Then it hits me.

When Asa remembered how her mother died, her hair was short.

Wasn't she in the end year of elementary school/first year of middle school when the typhoon devil incident happened, though? He mother died in that incident, right?

But somehow she said her high school uniform was bought by her mother before she died?

And she dreamt about chasing down her mother in the alleyway, with her high school uniform and her current long hair.

It's odd.

How come the mother know which high school Asa will go to? Is it in her will or something, that Asa will go to the school of her choice? Is it because that HS used to be the HS the mother went to, so she wanted Asa to continue her legacy or smth? But, wasn't their house got completely destroyed by the typhoon? How come she has anything left to live on her own? How did she retrieve her high school uniform, shouldn't it be destroyed already? And what about the money. How did she get enough money to sustain herself. Did she manage to retrieve the mother's atm, bank account, and/or hanko or something? But how?? Also, didn't Asa had to live in an orphanage for awhile? How did she manage to earn an apartment and live alone there, when she didn't do any side hustle with good money (like a private devil hunter or smth)? Is the government's help for the devils' victims really that good? Or am I missing something from the manga.

Something just doesn't add up.

Chances are, there's a gap in Asa's memory, between the time in the orphanage and the time in high school. My theory is, Asa's mother was actually alive at that time. She returned to pick up Asa from the orphanage, and they lived together for awhile. But Asa's mother has completely changed. Maybe she had to earn money by becoming a prostitute; it'd explain why Asa is so disgusted by sex. Maybe her mother has changed and became more toxic, even abusive. But Asa endured it all out of her guilt for not being able to rescue her mother at that time. Plus, she's the only family she had left. Asa endured and endured,until something big happened, Asa was running down the alleyway, trying to catch her mom. Something even more traumatizing happened. After that, her memory got cut off and she returned to her everyday life, this time alone, with the old memory that she killed her mother in a Typhoon Devil incident. Heck, maybe the chickens she stepped in in her dreams are the representation of her mother's clients she has killed/stepped on (not saying her mother fucked with chickens, though. I'm saying like, yknow, since chickens are beloved by humans just like the chicken devil, maybe the depiction is not far off).

Idk. I just know that something doesn't add up. I'm just putting it out there, until the new chapter arrives.

I, at some point, have wondered, why Chainsaw Man's weakened state looks like that. Why Pochita is like a dog we've never seen before (no fur, lumpy like a bean meat). And why his sole dream is to have someone hug him, not world peace or smth. I had moved on from that question tho, bc well, he's a devil, weird ass design don't matter.

But when I think that Pochita might originally be a Birth Devil (bc chainsaw's original use is to assist birth & he has the ability to "unbirth" & "birthing" devils)... what if... Pochita's true form... is actually an embryo?? He looks like a lump of small meat because he's an fetus?? His original dream is to be hugged, just like a baby who longed for his mother's warmth?? "Then why tf is he a dog when he's Chainsaw Man, shouldn't his weakened state be a human fetus," some of you might ask. Well who wants to hug a human fetus, if we're being honest. Probably only their parents. But a DOG. A dog is one of the easiest creature to hug, so maybe Pochita made himself look dog-ish to make himself look more lovable?? Even when he's heavily injured & incredibly wary of people after the huge war, he's still wanting to be loved?? It's probably his dying wish too?? Like he took the chance while he's still weakened??

Wait. omg. What if. In his weakened state, he changed his form into a dog, hoping that someone (a human) will hug him? only to get shot by a random devil hunter. We thought the bullet wound is from the 4 Horsemen or smth. What if it's actually from a random devil hunter, a human?? Wouldn't that be why he's wary of Denji (a human) on their first meeting??

Am I onto something new or am I late to the party.

Remember how Damian sometimes spouts the most whaky-yet-accurate, 4th-wall-shattering comments?

(there's also that scene where he called Anya's mom a gorilla & her dad's a fraud which is hilariously accurate, but I forgot which chapter or arc).

Well, it looks like he did it again in this chapter!

Remember how Anya spelled her name as Ania once, indicating that she might not be from Ostania or Westalis?

Yeah.

Maybe she really doesn't represent Ostania afterall, cus she's not originated from there.

Could my theory that Anya is from Covenia/Romania be true, afterall?? Or maybe she's from an entirely new country (like the equivalent of Russia), perhaps?

Only time will tell.

Moving on.

With the way this is framed,

Is it safe to assume the human experimentation is really happening to this day, afterall? Perhaps that's what Anya felt as something "kind of evil" ? Perhaps the "Go away, don't come any closer" is from the victim??

Is the human experimentation real or not, though??? We can't be sure, yet.

Maybe this holds some truth, giving another hint of what's to come (like Donovan's past or smth). But also, this could be a false alarm as a teasing joke for the theorist readers, lololol.

(I gotta say though; last time, I had wondered if the legend was from Donovan's teenage era. Now that Arnold says the legend comes from the Great War era, I can't help but feel like it's getting warmer, lol.)

Idk why I think the flying person might be Demetrius. Maybe I was under the assumption that he's still experimented on to this day, ASSUMING Demetrius also has brain-related superpower. Or maybe cus he's the only person I could think of, who wears a scholar's cape, lmao. Still risky to believe in an assumption though, I need more data/info. I decided not to think too much about it, for now.

From the comments I've seen, it looks like they're in disbelieve that someone can fly. But. Are we forgetting about Yor, tho?? Lolol. Maybe it really IS a person/student with superhuman athletic ability like Yor who can jump real high effortlessly. What are they doing here though, I have NO idea. Maybe the experimentation is not just about brain-enhancing stuff, but also physical-enhancing stuff? Maybe the "flying person" is actually one of the victim who tried to run away??

Why is Mr. Henderson getting fired tho, that was random, lololol.

At first, I thought maybe someone who holds a grudge against Henderson finally makes his move. People say it's prob Mr. Swann. Maybe this is gonna be the start of a new arc.

But. If it's not, IF it's a continuation of this arc, there are 3 possibilities in my head.

Maybe:

Henderson is getting fired because it's related to the ghost-hunting case these days. Maybe they want to fire him because they thought he's neglecting his students to the point they can ran amok easily;

He's getting fired because the human experimentation or something similarly shady really DO exist in the old schoolhouse. They're getting annoyed at the kids barging in, they're scared they'd get discovered soon. They want to fire Henderson so one of them can replace him to control the students so that they won't dare to enter the old schoolhouse anymore (be it by intimidation, manipulation, and/or heavy supervision);

It's related to the Donovan family dinner earlier. Maybe Donovan finally makes his move to get closer to Anya, so he/they want to replace Henderson with someone from their side to spy/get close to Anya.

As much as I want Henderson to be saved, I can't imagine how, though. I can vaguely imagine the kids are gonna go on a mission to save him or to clear his name, but they're still kids; there's a limit in how much they can do. I don't think Twillight will make a move unless it benefits his mission. Maybe Anya will plead real hard, then he'll go rescue him for "the sake of Anya's wellbeing that will affect Op Strix" or smth. If Endo is gonna go to a more serious route, there's a chance Henderson won't be back for a long while -> a replacement teacher stays for a long while bc they can't br driven out -> the kids want them out -> they (+Loid?) go on a mission -> the replacement teacher gets kicked out -> Henderson is back.

I heard the next chapter is gonna be delivered in a month (next time is just gonna be an illustration), so let's just wait and see.

I just reread ch 113 thanks to Freddy's absence in the latest chapter, and I might've missed this cute detail.

When Damian said "I don't envy anyone," I thought he meant that he's envious of Tetrius and Freddy for being able to ask Anya out so casually. But maybe that's not all.

Maybe he's envious of Freddy's invitation to go bowling in that weekend? As a prideful member of the Desmond family who's highly selective when choosing friends, and as someone who's stuck in a dormitory's rigid life, maybe the sound of [hanging out with friends casually on the weekend without needing to worry about any political pretense or dormitory rules] sounds like a fun idea he'd love to join too?

Third, Anya with the 7 mysteries, about a devil ritual that could possibly be connected with Donovan or Melinda?

What a teamwork.

Endo waste no time exploring each family member's involvement with Operation Strix in 3 consecutive arcs, huh. I really like this pace.

This could very well be another fun, "filler arc," but I still hope this arc will bring a significant development to the operation, too.

I know this chapter is splitted into 2 parts, but is it possible this is gonna be another long arc? I mean,

Seven people. For seven mysteries. Sweet. Is it really gonna be covered in just 1-2 chapters though??

Hnggh wait, lemme remember the 7 mysteries.

Ah yes.

I guess, if Endo wants to speedrun them and only highlight 1-2 important mysteries, that could work, I guess..

Some people say it's a reference to Harry Potter, so I wonder if some of it will turn out to be true. Especially the last two: "the cursed underground maze in section 4" and "the sealed chamber in the tower of wisdom." Sounds like hella suspicious places for a school filled with top political figures in the country. What if those are the places Donovan entered often? Hmmm. *sus glance* Wonder if DamiAnya gang will tackle the 7 mysteries like in Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun and see something they shouldn't see like in Promised Neverland, lol.

What if Donovan was once interested in occultism in hope to find an answer to end the war/to understand each other better? What if Melinda heard his childhood story and deemed it as silly, but once Donovan showed signs of mind-reading ability, she started to believe in occultism too?

(Since when did she believe in occultism again? I mean, how did it start, like, how did she meet the cult for the first time. Is it mentioned already? I might need to reread).

Oh Loid, if only you can read Sigmund's mind. Or, if only Anya didn't sleep early and you brought her with you. You could've hit a jackpot 😂😭

Quick, think about something else. Ummm] would've been caught by Anya dead-on. And I still don't think he's slick enough to avoid Anya's suspicion and prepared—in advance—a 'scripted thought' to think about when he sees Anya. But who knows.

Or at least if there's no 2nd ML, I thought he'll still be around Anya as a part of her 'harem' alongside that crown-head boy (his name is Terius/Tetris smth, I forgot). But he doesn't appear in this chapter. Why...?

I guess: 1) his 'love' for Anya isn't that deep, 2) this is not science class so he doesn't know Anya would go to an exploration, 3) this is science class and he just ditched it (he seems like the 'badboy' type), or 4) he's simply not interested in paranormal activity (maybe he's the no-nonsense type of guy).

Option 3 & 4 seems the most pausible to me. I lean towards #3 more though, because if it's true, it means there's a chance we'll see him in the abandoned schoolhouse. Heck, maybe the scream the shoe are his. The shoe seems small enough to me.

I Love Yoo returns in October this year!!!

Quimchee has confirmed it herself! Though no date is given, we can expect ILY to return next month! That said, I'd like to note that I always keep in mind the possibility of slippage because Quimchee is a human now with a child and many things can derail a schedule, but October is said to be the set month, so we can start looking forward to ILY's return at last!!!!!!!!!!

I hope Sigmund will decide that, if Donovan hasn't reached out to him about Subject 007, then there's no reason to bring it up to him. I hope he only jotted it down as a reminder for himself—not as a letter to be sent to Donovan. There might be funny shenanigans coming from Sigmund to confirm his suspicion about Anya, but it won't reach Desmond's ears for awhile.

(that will mean the plot will progress longer with "fillers/foreshadowing chapters" but idc, I want Loid to step up his game & find out the truth about Anya first, before his enemies "join hands").

Ending aside, I am so irked at Twillight right now. After tons of clues right in front of him, he still hasn't connected it yet??

Donovan has stitches in both of his temples.

Melinda, who shows no sign of mental disorder or abnormal cognition, has a deep suspicion Donovan can read minds.

Prof. Authen, the person Melinda mentioned in her notebook, used to be a neurology professor who had a contact with Donovan.

The fact that Project Apple existed.

Seriously. Just from those 4 clues, Twillight hasn't connect the dots yet?? He still can't connect that Donovan and Sigmund might've been involved in a brain experiment to read minds? He hasn't connected that Operation Strix might've been busted from the start? Even if he hasn't found any clue about Donovan's involvement with Project Apple (or any other project name), aren't those enough blaring signs to dig deeper??

To think those are not informations only readers know, too. Arghh.

Okay. Let's say Twillight has a short-term memory and couldn't remember those clues, for argument sake. He's more focused on what happen right now. Still. Sigmund has spoon-fed him with the informations he need, literally.

Seriously. He clearly admitted he was a physician and a scholar, enlisted by his country to pursue research. ON MILITARY AND GOVERNMENTAL COMMITEES. The siren couldn't blast any louder than that.

Is Twillight such a naive person to think that researchers haven't stooped so low to experiment on humans, so such thought has never crossed his mind?

I'm aghast. Flabbergasted. Confused. Irritated. Wow. Some great spy you are, Twillight. Gotta be honest, if he is Westania's greatest spy, then Westania is doomed.

Seriously? Former director of Twillight's hospital. Glooman Pharmaceuticals. All of the clues has been right under his nose all along and he still hasn't found anything??

I hope Twillight will find something highly interesting in Covenia Facility. If not, then that means: 1) WISE is just that incompetent, 2) WISE has a mole inside who prevent their investigation, or 3) Ostania & Covenia are just damn good at hiding their experiment traces. Or maybe all 2 or 3 are happening at once. Either way, Twillight is doomed. He's doomed to learn those informations too late. I hope I'm wrong, because right now, he's too far behind.

(This reminds me of a theory I just read that Authen might've been involved with Garden who "engineered" its subject to be superhuman soldiers (I'm paraphrasing). If Garden is really involved in all of this, it makes sense that even Twillight can't trace its activity, when he's not even aware of its existence until Franky mentioned it to him.)

This is one of the rare moment where I really appreciate his skepticism. Yes, keep being skeptic. Don't get lulled by false sense of security.

Now, about Sigmund.

He really did look at her with fondness, as if he's reminded of his prized posession, his greatest achievement of Subject 007.

If I'm willing to bet/theorize: on that night after Anya left, that would be the last time Sigmund had the "sinking feeling" Barbara referred to, before he calmed down and relapsed again in this chapter.

Perhaps at that day, after Anya showed numerous instances that she can read minds (she can decipher his mumbles a lot) and she said she wished for world peace, Sigmund had a "sinking feeling" that Anya was Test Subject 007. But after he calmed down, he immediately forgot about it. It wasn't until Anya came visiting again, asked about his involvement with evil organization, and Loid's inquirements about his involvement with Donovan Desmond, that Sigmund's memory was jogged even harder than before. Everything was suddenly connected, enough to make him stand up and write it down before he forgets (again). This is just a theory, though.

And yeah, even if Sigmund is confirmed to be involved with Donovan, I still would like to believe that he's not entirely a bad guy. I want to believe he's the one who helped Anya escape the facility, or at least he abandoned the project early. If that's the case, that could explain why Donovan's relationship with Sigmund was strained, he prevented his wife from greeting him with such intensity. Wait, that event happened when he resigned as the Prime Minister tho. When did that happen again? What year was it? Was it close with Anya's disappereance from the facility? And it could explain why Twillight has a soft spot for the Authens, because he seems to have an intuition to be attracted to good people.

Aight, enough mulling for tonight. Can't wait for next chapter already! 🥳
